The short answer is YES. Remember the experience bonus in paludal caverns? They've expanded that idea through the levels with "hot zones" that change periodically. I am not sure about doing 51 in a few hours, but I am not an intense player. I have, however, done 1-40 or so in a couple of days, casually. And mostly solo-- I did get a group in a hot zone for about an hour. |

I could easily do 1 through 50 in a few hours with buffs and potions.
I have friends who can do even better than me.
I still cannot believe the "new" server is a 51/50 server. |

With potions and buffs, the sky's the limit. (Even I, queen of the periodic afk, soloed a cleric to level 43 in one day with Not-Even-Real-Temperance (pally buffs) and DS potions... OMG, I am such a DS potion addict.) Without buffs and potions... well, it's still not very hard. People who haven't played EQ in a long time are probably looking at the words "soloed" and "cleric" and wondering how they got into the same sentence. (LOL) |

LDoN, IMO, was the best expansion in EQ........I made more friends in LDoN than all other expansions combined......It brought players together and gave them reasons to group.......I liked having a goal and a time limit to achieve that goal........The point system gave players something to work for and alot of incentive.......As for 51/50, I wouldnt be interested either.....Most of my favorite zones were also the early ones like Crushbone, Unrest, Paludal, and Blackburrow. |

I have not played EQ for many years. I would have gave it a try again if they did a classic server with expansions up to but not including Planes of Power. |

There are 3 kinds of people - those who can count, and those who can''t. |

51/50 server now shows up on the server selection screen, named Mayong. It was actually unlocked accidently this morning when they patched servers, and some people were able to logon and create their lvl 51 characters with 50 AA's. So for those waiting for the new server, the good news is it's ready to go, they just gotta open it. EQ1-AC1-DAOC-FFXI-L2-EQ2-WoW-DDO-GW-LoTR-VG-WAR |

I could probably get into my 40's in a full day, and that would be with limitless potions, buffs and uber gear. In other words, only by 2-boxing my higher level characters. I've often said that they should start new characters at 50. That's honestly where classes start to really come into their own. It would be different if the population existed to support the 1-50 levels, but it doesn't. The early level just seem like a formality these days, especially considering the fact that such a huge majority of the player base is 60+. |

it's still locked. I'm thinking this is the only way I will have of enjoying EQ; playing on a new server so I'm waiting for this. People have said it should be opening next weekend..hopefully. Although a server with a reduced number of zones would be far more appealling imo. |

seen at this blog They took a good bit of heat for deciding on a 51/50 server vs. a progression server. They said they might actually release two new servers - one with each rule set in the coming months so stay tuned. |
