I am waiting for a PVP MMO that is not full of idiots who want to win at all costs and will see how far they can push rules and exploits. A couple of example are zone point camping, attacking from inside of terrain and the all to common run into your attack so you get flagged when you don't intend to. It is not so much the pvp game but the small group of immature idiots who don't see the pleasure in winning a fair fight rather than a gank. |

PvE with plentiful non-combat PvP. |

None of the above: I prefer a game where several playstyles converge on each other and intimently support each other. |

why do we have to settle for one or the other? a good mmo will have both. When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you. |

As the "moron" in question, I said no such thing. I said that if I (me, this person here typing this damned sentence, not you, not your dog, not some unnamed kid playing under his bed in Indonesia), if I wanted to play against other people, I (once again me, no suggestion that you ought to do it) launched a half-life mod and got my player-killing ya-yas out. I personally find zero satisfaction over the long-term killing or being killed in a level-based, item-dependant persistant world environment. I did not say other people shouldn't enjoy the whole world of unbalanced killing, just that I don't. You'll notice that the original post is whether one prefers PVP or PVE-centric games... not whether I think everyone should. Hey, look at that... I got through this whole explanation without once calling you an idiot, moron, ignoramus, doofus, douchebag, or anything other uncalled for insult. Amazing, eh? |

I am a hardcore PvPer but I enjoy games that have both. Oldschool UO was fantastic, DAoC was fantatstic, even WoW in its early stages was a lot of fun with the world PvP on PvP servers. PvE is more fun when theres a threat that some one might jump on you at any time. I simply cannot play a game that has no PvP. Looking for a new game to play |

I have to laugh at the PvP crowd that thinks there is some kind of skill in killing other players in lvl based MMO's. Lets face it, its no different than killing mobs in PvE. Once you learn the strategy of the guy who killed you, you will simply turn around and use the same strategy to kill others. Or camp the same site. Or find out what "Blessed Sword of Ganking" he used to kill you so that you can get your own and prey on those lowly noobs who only have the "Sacred Sword of Griefing". I think that is why some of the people here say they choose to do FPS for real PvP. At least then you know you will get a fair fight in one of those. JMO. |

Well, my vote for something called an MMORPG is PvE. I see the arguments that PvPers should play an FPS if they just want to crush the skulls of other live players, and that PvEers should go offline and play a solo rpg for deep immersion, and I agree on both counts because that is exactly what I do. I still get my ass handed to me in FPS but I expect it and don't complain. I prefer solo rpg for content and exploration where I don't have do wait for slackers or listen to whiney babies. However, If I want fps OFFline it is readily available (that little thing called story mode), but when I want rpg ONline I don't want my game tailored to hack and slash. I want a cooperative ROLE playing game where my friends and I are heroes on an epic quest, not footsoldiers in an endless territorial battle. I can enjoy both styles of play but it seems too many games try to mesh them together and a benefit of one style becomes a hinderence to the other. PvP is fun and has it's place, but sometimes I want a PvE game that specifically says on the label "NO PvP, Don't even ask! Put the box back on the store shelf and buy the next game over!" That's my vote. Monkey!!! |

In my MMO's I want PvE. I could really care less about PvP, I have yet to see any MMO acheive true balance with PvP. Unbalanced PvP is not fun. Theres very little skill involved in MMO pvp. Bigger gank squad wins thats not a determining factor that I like. I laugh at people calling MMO pvp skill. With that said I love PvP but in FPS. There is a new game called MAG (massive Action Game). It says there will be 256 player servers. 2 teams with 128 people on a teams, now that sounds like an battle of epic proportions. I just hope that they can deal with lag, I am kind of skeptic but if its pulled off ill be dissapeared from the MMO scene for awhile. Funny guy huh? MAG is a FPS modern warefare game. Its not trying to be an MMORPG. Its trying to be an MMOFPS. Wheather or not it will be a lag-fest or not only time will tell. But again I am kind of skeptic, but most definatly keeping an eye on it. Elder scrolls online: Voice your concerns here :http://www.zenimax.com/contact.php |

Not really trying to be funny. Could you perhaps explain what makes MAG different from this: http://planetside.station.sony.com/ It sure looks like what you describe as MAG, to me anyway. What am I missing?. Thnx |

I'm a PvE guy, I don't enjoy PvP in the least, although I've got no problem if people want it to be available consentually. I have to agree with some of the others who have said that level-based MMOs really make PvP rather silly, especially when you've got people twinking so they can go around and feel good about picking on others. That may not be how everyone plays PvP, but it's certainly been my experience watching it. That's just not fun to me, sorry. Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, lots more |

I like fighting vs living, breathing people, not vs the same monster repeatedly, the same boss repeatedly and I especially do not want to do either those things with a bunch of nubs on vent. |
