well main reason i never play many healer types is most PUGs get me to the point of where i won't heal them.
NEVER make your healer angry, bad things happen!

They have too, because most MMO's are becoming giant solo games with the chance to speak to other people as you play. no one barely groups in games anymore just to grind or do quests unless your friends. So in a way, they are helping healers out with the chance of actually leveling and what not, but aye, EQ1 clerics = no fight, no damage just heal . XD PS - All mammals have nipples. The healer classes in Vanguard are simply brilliant. If you ever played one of the healbottles on 2 legs with a dps challenging a wet towel and then you played a VG healer, you start weeping about the time you wasted in the other games. |

The healing classes in DAoC ( any Realm ) would be my top picks. The healing classes in WoW would be my second choice. I still pop into WoW every now and then and play some of my different healers when I get too frustrated with DF crashing. The pure Cleric class in early EQ was an intense class to play, the responsibility for keeping the group alive was stressful to the max.
Most of the other games have not made a healing class worthwhile to play, at least for me. |

My Favorites would be: 1. EQ1 Cleric...it was my 1st MMO and I have fond memories of the "old days" 2. WAR Shaman... Something about it I just liked...The game wasn't for me in the long run but I liked the Shaman. 3. WoW Shaman.. Just like the versitility of the class. |

Bloodmage from Vanguard is a very interesting and challenging healing class. One of my all-time favorite classes in any game.
Warrior Priests, from WAR, are also quite fun. A melee healing class.
Other than that, I'm getting into TCOS, and the Spellcaster classes have some great heals, which are very unique and enjoyable. And the gameplay in TCOS makes healing a very nice experience.
Also, Summoner from FFXI was also interesting. You are primarily a healer, with some really cool avatars to summon and cast buffs, finish skillchains, and so on. |

problem with healers in almost all mmo's is TOTAL dependency on them. that gets on my tits. I hate that for obvious reasons. so I'm going to have to say medic in TF2 because they are a optional support class not a must-have-class-or-you-fail like monks in GW, don't get me started. in honestly TF2 is the only game I wish healers weren't removed from completely. but then its one of few non mmo's I've played to have healers. |

You need to be dependent on them otherwise the game would be pointless. Think of it .. You and 4 other rogues run up to a giant monster, start attacking, its way past your level, it starts smacking the crap out of you guys, what do you do? .. you most likely die. Now, with a healer, you wouldnt die. its just the way it goes, you have someone take the damage, and you have a healer to heal if something goes wrong. Its like food, you are dependent on it or sooner or later youll just perish.

Sure people had aggro'd when I didn't want them to but I dealt with it 99% of the time thanx to helpful druids who cast that 400% mana regen on me or mana potions. When I havn't dealt with it we just run back and try again. I don't mind dying and I don't mind people making mistakes cause shit happens, it's when people get angry and start blaming eachother and arguing, thats when it pisses me off. It's only a game and if you couldn't or didn't die then there would be no challenge and it wouldn't be fun. I play EU servers though and I find them to be more grown up than the US ones. |

Even Shadow Priests can heal and Shamans can do abit of healing too. I just hate the games where you need a healer and noone wants to play them because all they can really do is heal and thats boring. I like WoW's talent tree system cause you can play 3 different roles and it just makes the classes alot more fun and more diverse so you can really mix things up. |

Cant stand sitting there throwing out damage, when its really not needed?, not that its not needed, cause without damage there would be no deaths of mobs, but more of, it gets boring not truly being needed and important in my eyes. Usually I hate playing healer. Standing behind and watching other folks health bar isnt my type of fun. The exception is the Disciple in Vanguard. It was a very active and enjoyable class... one I really miss.

You took one word from what I said and it's out of context. I enjoy healing too but WoW makes it's healers play other rolls and really mixes things up where as most mmorpgs I played a healer just heals and it's just so generic. The Talent tree system has done wonders for class based mmorpgs because fianlly you can customize to what you want to be. |

This answer is easy for me, SWG: Doc, mixed with Pike or TKM in both the CU and Pre-CU. Pre-CU had the added bonus of crafting stims, buffs, and heals. It was a great time.... Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom. Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR. |

Pre-CU SWG is the game which got me into healing believe it or not. I originally went Doctor because I was sicking of paying to get buffed and figured I could become a Doctor and make some cash buffing people! I was always into PvP so I PvP'd as a Doctor... my fighting profession changed a bit but Swordsman was a good one. Other than Jedi, Combat Medics were one of the biggest concerns in PvP. They were incredibly powerful. However, as a Doctor I could always cure any of their poisons or diseases they chucked on my team. Very few people dedicated themselves to this job, so I became fairly popular as an anti-combat medic. So I would have to say SWG for the sake of getting me into healing in the first place. Before that, I would always play the high damage "glory" classes. Other than SWG, I really used to enjoy playing a Monk in Guild Wars. You get to play support AND you get the glory because good healers are revered in that game :-P Nice combo! MMOs played (In order of how much I've liked them): Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, City of Villains / Heroes, Guild Wars, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online, Ryzom, Final Fantasy XI, Matrix Online, RF Online, Rappelz, Hero Online, Roma Victor |

It seems that ever MMO I play, I am playing a different archetype than the one before it. I seem to rotate from DD -> Tank -> Heal everytime I switch MMOs. With that said, I haven't played a healer in all the MMOs I've played, but by far my favorite would have to be the Rune Priest in WAR, followed by the White Mage in FFXI. The Rune Priest in WAR is a very powerful healer, and I loved being the "tank" of PvP. I could keep myself and my teammates alive, even when the odds were stacked against us. If WAR did one thing right, it was their healers. Being able to have a Tank shield you, PLUS being able to detaunt an attacker 100% of the time, healers were a huge threat. It was a ton of fun. The runner up is the WHM from FFXI. Oddly enough, it's a pretty straightforward healer, but the subclass allowed you to branch out and do some other things. I'm not sure that the WHM class is very unique from other healers from other games, but the fact that FFXI is such a group-oriented game made it much more fun for me. |

DAOC hands down. In most games you have DPS classes, and healers are there as a stop gap. They dont counter DPS they just slow it down. In DAOC, you were an anti dps machine. Clerics, Druids, and Healers rocked as healers. Someone getting trained, NP, single target heals keep them up. Group taking damage, toss out a spread heal, things are fine. Loved DAOC healing. |

Well my favorite MMO to play a healer is guild wars. there are soo manny skills to use and no healer is quite the same. You can set up for pure heals,heals/smite,tank,or even a runner its just a blast tp play a healer in guild wars |
