Some pages later but... Eye color customization was added to the Korean game in Patch 1.1, which is (supposedly) going to be part of the translated NA/EU release client along with the recently released 1.2 and any other patches to help keep us up to date. Clan Lord | Symphony of Storms |

Originally posted by Sixpax For me, enjoying Aion has nothing to do with anything new being brought to the genre. As some have already said, Aion is not out to reinvent the wheel. Nothing groundbreaking has been added, NCsoft has done what WoW did before and that is use the same formula and polished it. If you need a game that has all the new innovations then Aion is definitely not for you.

I agree, no new wheel here. Just one that has spinners and a great pain job and a diamond studded air preassure value cap. One heck of a wheel. Thinking of trying TERA? Check out my guild on Basilisk Crag! We're actively recruiting! www.proxytera.enjin.com/ |

I think that this claim that AION offers nothing that can't already be found in the genre is a bit skewed. Its true that the game isn't revolutionary and doesn't offer anything substantially unique or inventive, however it does offer a new setting with a pvp-centric endgame on top of a graphically stunning and incredibly polished and complete (very important elements when contending in today's market) infrastructure. For all that the game is similar to other class and level based MMOs, consider its differences:
-It is the first MMO to feature stunning Eastern artwork (though this is of course a matter of personal taste) combined with the strong foundation of Western gameplay. -It offers a dynamically changing keep-oriented PvP environment on top of a strong PvE game. I would venture to say that the other games which offer this style of control (WAR, DAoC, Lineage 2, Darkfall) are either dated, lacking the PvE strength, unpolished, or some combination of those. -Character creation within the given races is beyond anything previously offered in the genre, and with all the diverse appearances the game still runs incredibly smoothly. -The game attempts to improve upon existing "standard" MMO combat with stigma and a combo system that applies to all classes.
While these might be features that can be found in one game or another, it is AION that brings them together so artfully. While it may not have the benefit of an established franchise or the same market conditions as World of Warcraft did when it launched in the midst of EQ's decline, it very much offers that same amazing blend of existing features with a new flavor that helped promote WoW's early success, at least amongst MMO veterans who had become tired of the status quo. AION may not be revolutionary, and it might not be improving in the specific areas that you as a player prefer, but to say that it doesn't stand out against the current offerings of the genre is misguided. Ive seen the points where you dislike it and I think you should give it another chance, if you're really into crafting and exploration you should enjoy the endgame. |

People keep saying over and over they are waiting for the next game that will be totally different then what we have seen but honestly I'm not sure that would be called an MMO. Everything has already been done in one way or another. Also I think we're underestimating the silent majority that just want to play a fun polished game and no matter what we say here, the vocal minority, it's those guys who'll make the difference. Amazon.com has Aion release date of Sept 1st 2009. That fits with the fall 2009 NCSoft has stated. Fan sites: Official sites: |

Originally posted by Sixpax Well since NCSOFT stated that they WERE NOT trying to bring anything new to the genre really just improve on whats there and make a damn good game. Since i've already played it i can tell you that it is just that a damn good game. |

Well ncsoft is doing a great work with aion and the fact that they wont be bringing anything new to the game i think is great cuz the way i see it recent mmo's are just plain boring and aion just feels like a entire diferent game even with all those formulas we've seen from other games. Can't pay for membership? Have to play free stupid grind games? |

I think some of the people here at mmorpg.com are at the end of the road for the mmo playing days. As far as (Upcoming releases go at least) Some people on this site would probably be disapointed and call it un-revolutionary to have a fully 3d, smell, hear, touch, interactive MMO that actually makes you feel like you are inside the world. I have honestly NEVER seen the wheel be revolutionized, And I don't think we ever will. The only thing that will beat a wheel is an alternative object or invention which is in fact "Not a wheel"... The best we will see with the wheel is modification, improvement, polish, and those things that make it work and look better for it's primary purpose.. This is the exact same deal with MMORPGS.. The fantasy genre follows what it can from lore and those books that entale great adventures, and it will continue to "improve" But it will never do a complete 180 spin in another direction because that would be defeating itself as a mmo. Just the same the reason "Making a glass wheel with spikes" Maaay in fact be possible, but it's no revolution nor is it more efficient at it's intended function. I find it sad when the only way to explain to some people is by referencing a god damn wheel. I hope everyone understands because if they let this little lesson pass them up, then they are truly hopeless. =/

Originally posted by yoscsskills Do a search for Aion Chinese accounts and time cards....they will set up an account for you for about $10, and add any amount of game play time you want from their site. egpal.com, cn-usa.com are good places to look =P They will also include a link for the English patch so the game is just about all in English....the important stuff is anyway....everything but the Chinese text other players are typing to talk to each other. |
