After reading through these forums for a bit, I noticed that a majority of the threads and posts are negative. I think right now would be the best time to start playing Vanguard, honestly. The population is rising quite quickly. You could get in on the ground floor, and be one of the top tier players before many others start playing. SOE doesn't have a re-release planned any time soon, and for those of you who are currently playing Vanguard, it is up to the players and fansites to get the word out there. Yes, SOE is quite terrible, but this game is not. If the game was released in the current condition it is in now, it would have been as big as everyone thought it was going to be.
Go download the Isle of Dawn trial http://vanguard.station.sony.com/isleofdawn/ and try it out if you haven't. I don't want to see anyone post here saying the game is terrible if you haven't tried it within the last month or so. Bandwagon flames will just be outright ignored (those of you who have never played it and think you're pretty cool posting trash about it. And for those of you who ARE playing, I'm just wondering what you have done to help promote the game? Its too bad it got such a bad rap, because people are missing out on a lot of fun. -Computer specs no one cares about: check. -MMOs played no one cares about: check. -Xfire stats no one cares about: check. -Signature no one cares about: check. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

I completely agree with the op, this game is on the up and up, and of all times now. I recently downloaded the trial and this game is everything i expected it to be when it first launched. There are plenty of new people in game, and it is such a blast. I think anyone looking for a new mmorpg should definetely give this a try. The only problem I have with this game atm is a slight framerate issue, which only happens every few minutes, and my system should be completely fine running this on high settings, probably just the client. But the game is great, crafting is fun, diplomacy is a blast, and the population is on the rise. Check out any of the servers but so far the server Xeth (I believe) has a good population. My problem isn't with the game. It's with the lack of funding and interest from SOE. I think Vanguard is a fantastic game, and has probably the most potential out of any game released so far. Unfortunately, SOE sees otherwise and would rather make games for children (Freeworlds). Would you jump on a slowly sinking ship? |

Play with what is offered to you and not with what could be offered.
Just play the game with what it offers, dont wish it had this or that. That is one of the problems now, we want to play with what the game doesnt have. |

I'm actually enjoying the Chinese version of Aion more, but I have been playing the trial for Vanguard: SoH and the game is truly excellent. Have a few mid-teen characters, and the world is excellent, my 2 year old machine runs the game fine with good graphics, combat is more interesting than most games, the class/race/gear selection rocks, diplomacy is unique, crafting is decent... IMO, if this game was released today with all the hype and hoopla from it's original release, it'd be pretty big. Shows what happens when you release a game wayy too early. |

Its like beating a dead horse. SOE won't be tossing any more funding to VG. Why? Because all of its money is going to maintaining the EQ2 development team, The Agency, Free Realms, DC Universe, and its unannounced new flagship MMO. SOE is all about business. They purchased VG for numerous reasons, one of the ones that they didn't brag about is the fact that it is leveling the competition for PVE based mmos. They know for a fact that if VG were to be bought by another company and got full dedicated resources, it would've shut SOE up so hard it would not have been funny. But what they did is purchased it, milked the dev team down to 4 developers, and let it drag along. You should read up on how PotA is coming along. It is not looking good for the high end community by any stretch. |

What the point? Didn't SOE said something about inplimenting a cash shop for vanguard? |

[Mod Edit] I swear every 3-6 months some Vanguard Dev or Shill comes here spouting the same rubbish. "Join Now!" "The games on a rebound!" "Numbers are up and the games now stable and bug free" etc etc etc. only probelm is it doesn't take long to see people still reporting the game as buggy, unstable, and that the pop continues to drop. Add to that the game has no future, ie no planned expansions a bare bone skeleton team to meet the minimal needs of keeping the game running, and yes its easy to see VG = a game on life support |

Well, I don't know how fast you plan on blasting through content. But even if there's never anything added, (Which there is) , it's not like you only have 10 days worth of content. You have a ton fo content already in the game. If you look at playing the game as a long term investment, I don't even know how to deal with that ideologically. To me, it's a game, if I have fun for a whilel, it's served it's purpose. I don't plan the remaining block of the decade around me playing something. /shrug |

And two, the biggest reason I made this thread was because people are missing out on a fantastic game. I would like to get the word out not only to increase the population, but so people can experience it for themselves and see how the game is. A majority of people just go from what others say, and are mindless drones. I don't know if you have played it, but if you haven't then you're a perfect example. -Computer specs no one cares about: check. -MMOs played no one cares about: check. -Xfire stats no one cares about: check. -Signature no one cares about: check. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

If they give me back the money I spent on it when it was released and a free month as an apology, then I'd try it during that free month. |

Can't blame the players who wish to advertise for this game anyway they can. We all know SOE wont spend a dime on advertising this game. Which is a shame. Seems like these days every producer of a product should know that advertisment is key to selling any product. This game could be the best out atm (fantasy PVE) but because of low revenue, aka low subs, they have a skeleton dev crew and can only trickle out new content very slowly. The reasons for this are many. I played when first released back in feb 07, came back a few times with the last time back in Nov of 08. It's come a relatively long way. Silius as the head dev is a turn off for me though as well as SOE decisions in reguards to the games funding/handling.

Many are missing out on the game, and who cares about SOE when we can try and promote the game ourselves.
