Well I am lost.  I have no idea what game I wanna play.  It is not because of the large amount of games out there, but because of the lack of good titles.  Played all the major games, war, wow, aoc, and others, I just don't know every game out there and I really can't see one coming up I am excited about.  I am wanting pvp, rvr, and little questing, god i hate questing after playing wow.  Anyway anyone have any games that are worth playing.  Wouldn't mind an older games if its still fun to play or new to me.

This will piss a few people off but it needs to be suggested. Ever thought about playing Darkfall?

There are 2 kinds of people in the world: those who don't like dragons and those who enjoy living.

Hang out on these forums enough and you will find most of the people here are in that situation.

My blog is a continuing story of what MMO's should be like.

DAOC if you've never tried it.  Heard there's a bit of a rebirth movement atm, so you might want to check it out.  Lots of folks returning and rolling new characters.

Otherwise, EVE.

The only advice I can give you is to try the game for yourself and make your own mind up - Many people complaining about the game on these forums don't actually have an account. The game is nowhere near perfect, but its just about as close to the MMO you're looking for as possible. I personally think the only MMO's currently worth playing are EVE Online and Darkfall Online.

I love the game personally :)

just try not playing anything. be warned. not playing anything for a long period of time will make you realize how dumb the games of today are.

a lot of us have thought about giving it a try, sadly they aren't letting new people in the game.  every day we can't get in game is another day someone else is getting an advantage.

You should never come out on this website and ask peoples' opinion on games, half of them are FTARDS to begin with.

WoW is by far one of the worse mmorpg's on the market regardless of how big their subsriber base is. Yes there are that many stupid people out there and you can't fix stupid. I knew that game blew when it was just in beta testing which I was unfortunate enough to experience.

If you want a good opinion I'll give you mine, whenever I speak people should stop and listen.

1. There are many more game genres than stupid mmorpg's to be played, i.e. singleplayer/co-op rpg's, FPS online/singleplayer, action and so on.....

2. MMORPG's are not the only game genre people need to play, you're not a true gamer if you do anyways.

3. Until companies stop developing cookie cutter mmorpg's copying off of everything else it's always gonna be a stale market. People are burned out on them it's either level/skilled based, kill/quest grind, PvP - script or non-script, (basically cheat or no cheat), idiotic/annoying community base, pets/mounts etc. etc.

4. AoC had great potential but still not only fell to the same ole sh!t but one of the most linear mmorpg's I have ever played.

5. My advice to you is stay away from this genre until a company can actually produce a product that has at least 1 unique attribute that other titles do not have. That or a whole new concept to this genre otherwise no matter what is spewing out of these game companies it's all the same crap wrapped up in a different color.

6. Some titles that you should research up on: Star Wars: The Old Republic, Fallen Earth, Earthrise and Star Trek Online

These titles look promising but how may times have we heard that from the developer's mouth? I would keep a close eye on SW:TOR it looks the most promising and every true gamer knows Bioware's top notch reputation, for those that don't....take a bow you're a true FTARD.

best reply ever. :-)  I agree with you, WoW has ruined the genre.  Everything is a WoW copy, as most people say, but thats like saying a strawberry is an orange copy b/c its sweet.  Been looking at SW:ToR.  Not really a star wars fan but the game seems like it could be solid.  I should look at the others as well

I'm with you, brother! If you haven't tried the following, do so.

Good games you should've played in no particular order:

-Baldur's Gate Trilogy (1, 2, Throne of Bhaal) (can do co-op)

-KotOR 1 and 2

-Neverwinter Nights 2 and Mask of the Betrayer (didn't care too much about NWN 1) (co-op)

-Mass Effect

-ES3: Morrowind

-ES4: Oblivion

-Fallout 1, 2 and 3

-Assassin's Creed

-Haloes 1, 2 and 3 (co-op)

-Dungeon Siege 1 and 2(co-op lan game. don't bother sp is boring)

-Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 1 and 2 (excellent rts lan games both)

-Company of Heroes: (good lan game)

-Kingdom Under Fire

-Half-life 2 all of them

-Rainbow Six Las Vegas 1 & 2 (co-op)

-Gears of War 1 and 2 (co-op)

-Diablo 2 with the expansion.

-Bioshock

-Splinter Cell Double Agent (co-op)

-Condemned: Criminal Origins

-Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit

There should be enough before anything worthwhile comes up. You should atleast try the KotORs while waiting for SW:ToR.

I was in the same boat as you for awhile jumping from MMO to MMO. I finally just gave up on P2P mmos and decided to try and find a decent F2P mmo to just casually play. I went through so many damn f2p mmos with no avail. But i finally found one that seems to be worth a damn.

Regnum online.

Its kind of like a DOAC type game where theres three faction fighting over an area and such. Its pretty neat. It has an item mall but none of the items actually give an advantage in gameplay. It just sells things like mounts and what not.

Give it a try if your intereseted. Its 100% free.

Blah, blah, blah...  WoW did not ruin anything.  It's people who hate WoW so much that they will jump on the bandwagon of any game that is not WoW that are ruining the genre.

See I have quit and played WoW a number of times.  Honestly it is a very refined game and is great for many people.  The problem that I have with it is the effect it has on people.  Let me give an example.  I was around 13ish when Everquest and Asheron's Call came out.  Played both but liked AC better so played that.  All I would hear from people is how good EQ was and would compare every game to it.  Granted most were mmo's so I guess that is a comparison but many were of different genres.  The same thing is happening to WoW.  Many people are comparing games of extremely different genres to it simply because its an mmo.  Daoc vs Wow is like apples and oranges.  When your first mmo is huge like Wow people think that if it doesn't reach that lvl then its not as good.  EQ had less than 500,000 in its prime, AC less than 300,000 and many others probably less but most people who have played some of the older mmo's still regard them as the best.

I'm going to give Alganon a try; if it doesn't work out for me I might give up on the genre for a while.  I've grown so tired of mmo end games, scheduling what is supposed to be relaxing game play like it's a f'n job utterly stupid.  Tired of quest, of classes, of the complete and utter lack of variety.

I've given thought to going back to UO.

my 2 pennies here. to this list I might add the following(some of these might need some questing to locate the games themselves!)

Revenant, Nox, Universe at War.

As for MMO, Im currently playing Anarchy Online and RF Online, both are F2P with micropayments and subscription options

Seriously, WoW did not ruin anything, but bring up the standard so high that games releasing now that try to be a WoW wanabe have fail.

Its not WoW fault, its the current Dves and players fault that it happen. YES YOU!!!

Devs? : because they try to release another WoW clone, and the publisher for rushing the game out...

Players?: For they give stupid reason reason that " WoW is also unstable when release!" , " This game have potential!", " This game only release 1 week!!!" etc... etc...

But they forget that games that release now is going to complete with genes that is NOW!!! And not 4 or 5 years ago!!!

Might as well compare AoC to UO???!!!

Its the unreleastic players that hype that games with false hope that ultimately cause the game to fall when players buy and log in and found that its just another POS...

So whos' fault??? All its seems to me...... The Publisher, The Devs, and The players.....

Till that day we wake up and stop Dev from releasing un-finish games, and we players stop giving stupid excuses for a stupid games publish... we will continue to face the same problem year after year till this gene dies...

Exactly. The way I see it is that most Wow players are Wow players and not mmo players.  This is great for blizzard but not for the general mmo population.  I would be happy if a game only had 50 to 100,000 people.  Games are unstable when they first come out, but when people start playing a game that has been out for a while people expect new games to be perfect.  I took all the bad when War came out since I knew there were going to be problems. I quit because a powerhouse like EA should have ironed them out by now but haven't.  I don't care if I can't see my guild symbol on my cape; I do care that my Marauder can't hit worth crap and that the game is so unbalanced.   To me WoW can be compaired to Halo in the sense that there are many games better but almost none as popular.  If there isn't millions of people playing then the devs think its a failure.  Honestly how much does it cost to upkeep a game? 15 * 20,000 people is 300,000 a month.  Now I know for a fact they don't spend that but I am not in the business.
