Hard to say when exactly, but iirc the grand plans calls for it this year. Don't expect anything overly fancy though. CCP wants to add only basic functionality and expand on that with time. ------------------------------------------------------ Designers need to move away from the old D&D level-based model which was never designed for player vs player combat in the first place. |

Supposed to come out for this winters expansion. Now of course this is subject to change depending on how CCP feels about what they have done. Check youtube for videos. There's evena thread around here somewhere with links to the newer videos. |

Source? I got one. wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/Ambulation "First announced in 2006, this expansion is expected some time in the 2009 time frame" ------------------------------------------------------ Designers need to move away from the old D&D level-based model which was never designed for player vs player combat in the first place. |

if they have explicitly made that statement -- link it.
edit - cuz i can't spell 'statement' it seems. could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

this part bothers me:
"Macarena-dancing aliens have nothing to do with science fiction in my book. I recommend watching Aliens, Blade Runner and The Empire Strikes Back. This is what true science fiction is about and the reason we made EVE."
not because i like the dancing in wow; but because i like the ambience in the cantinas and such IN star wars. there was no dancing in star wars? double U tee eff??? guess there weren't any bands/musicians either eh? or, are we limiting it to ONLY the empire strikes back, in the hopes that there were no cantinas in that one?
cuz um, gambling halls and bars, sure do sound like cantinas to me.
i am still hoping for pre-cu skills, to include dancer/entertainer. didn't star wars integrate a cloning device for when your body was destroyed? i don't see why the pod-pilot-clone thingie can't be extended to ambulation...

I think you're taking that statement the wrong way. They're not saying that sort of thing doesn't exist. It's just not the focus of their game. IE - Pod pilots are revered as immortals to normal people. Pod pilots are supposed to be a 'big deal' to the rest of the universe in EVE. They're essentially immortal, because when they die they just get implanted into another clone. These people are very powerful compared to the rest of the people in the universe. Now, imagine if you're walking through a station and you see a well known and feared pirate dancing in front of a group of people. Kinda kills the immersion, doesn't it? That's what they mean by that, and I've read interviews where they've explained it before. |

how are they not saying that dancing doesn't exist (i'm assuming your "that sort of thing" is dancing?). how does that affect them removing dancing completely, thereby negating its existence in cantinas, strip joints, and whatever else goes with it?
would a well known and feared pirate be dancing in front of a group of people? how EXACTLY would it kill the immersion? i go to clubs/bars and see all sorts of people dancing... not just the pretty girls, but big ugly bikers too. did dancing make the big ugly bikers any smaller or prettier? nope. not one bit.
guess, i'm just not seeing it. but, whatever. if you think that will stop people from /em dancing...

you are incorrect. even though anyone can contribute to the wiki all entries are verified by a ccp employee before they are accepted. |

There has been no official time when they would release "Walking in Stations" ,they have said they are trying for winter of 2009 depending if things run smooth enough. Otherwise look for it next year or the next. |

CCP is like iD. They don't give dates unless they KNOW they can meet them. Ambulation was supposed to have been out with last winters expansion. It will be done when it's done and the goal right now is this winters expansion but if it doesn't make it don't be shocked, surprised or upset. |

Agree with most others, you're not likely to get a firm date on this until about 3 months before the expansion that they've decided on.

btw, in one of the blogs regarding the "Kali" Expansion in 2006 they have also talked about atmospheric flight, and that they are working on it. But as with ambulation, they havent specified out any particular release date. And atmospheric flight is still not in. So unless they explicitely name a fixed release date for ambulation theres no reason to believe that ambulation will be the upcoming winter expansion. Dont hope for it or youll only get disappointed. |
