I've always thought that this would be the most amazing game if it were an MMO. I've never experienced a world as vast and realistic as the morrowind and oblivion games. Of course there would have to be some changes made, but I still think it would be awesome. PVP could take place in the Arena like you can do in the real game. And there would need to be ALOT more mobs in both dungeons and world. To make it a MMO it would change many fundamentals of the game, i understand that, but i still think it could work and would be epic if it did. What do you guys think?

Yeah I agree. Then later I thought Mount and Blade Online would be cool.

I agree, too bad it won't be made anytime soon.  Especially now since Bethesda went with a crappy MMO Company to make Fallout MMO and that venture is working out swell =P

However, if the Fallout MMO falls through, then maybe, just maybe they will think about making an Oblivion MMO.

Oblivion did indeed lack that multiplayer aspect, but as an MMO no.

If Oblivion had a multiplayer 'instance', a dungeon where people could meet in a lobby before setting out, ala PSO it would have rocked.

Oblivion was shit to be frank. It took the playerbase to fix their game with user created mods.

Any MMO that introduces level scaling can count me out as a customer. Dumbest design in gaming history

*Phew*, Daggerfall would make a far better MMO with some polished graphics and new AI, Oblivion is far to small.

Anyways, isn't it Elder scolls V now? Daggerfall was 2, Morrowind 3 qand Oblivion 5.

If Bethesda are making Fallout or Elder scrolls is still secret unless I missed a press release about it. Last thing I heard was that Black isle still owned the right and even anounced that they worked on Fallout online, even though it is far from certain that theyy can complete it in time until they lose the license.

Interplay is far from a crappy company. The made one of the greatest rpgs of all time, Baldurs gate.

They wern't really speaking about bugs... so much as content

I agree it was very very buggy.

Bethesda has stated before in an interview that they want to focus on making really good single player games and not do MMO's not sure what your talking about with the Fallout thing...

Interplay was the creator and owned the IP until they sold it recently to Bethesda with the stipulation that they would have the ability to make an MMO based off of it, provided that they did it in a timely manner.

Which this is currently getting quite a lot of attention seeing as one of the pre set time benchmarks has passed and Interplay might have failed to meet the requirements.

Mortal Online looks pretty close to it...

Honestly after looking at a few MMO's coming out of korea I wonder how far away we are from seeing a game like oblivion in MMO form...   Some of them have breath taking in game graphics.

Wow, your the first person i've ever heard that  called Oblivion shit. The game was extremly polished and complete. There were two money glitches at release and they fixed that with a patch shortly after. 99% of the player created mods i've seen are just add ons for new places and equipment, i can't say i've ever seen a mod that tried to "fix" something that bethesda did wrong or bad. I think it's awesome that they have such a sweet tool set that allows people to make such awesome mods, which is another plus to the game, once you beat it, just download a few player made mods and you can play for many hours more with new things to explore.

There has been one or two Oblivion Online mods.  One is still out there I think.  It did work, I don't know how well though.

This mod is a joint effort to fix the vast amount of bugs currently existing in Oblivion v1.2.0.416, fixing over 1,800 bugs so far! If you're experiencing a bug with Oblivion and it's not fixed by our mod please by all means report the bug to us in as much detail as possible so we can try to fix it! Also if you find any: levitating trees or rocks, see-through or fall-through walls/objects or other stuff out of place, please let either of us know. To get the exact location, use the console commands sdt 0 and then tdt, click the item, note the Cell (not PC Cell) and form ID value (the eight hexadecimal digits at the top, ie 00123ABC) and indicate what's out of place. You can use tdt again to toggle the debug display off. Thank you and we hope you have a better Oblivion experience!

Hmm, isn't there number 4 between 3 and 5?

Still for some reasons I don't like Bethesads games too much, they are bit too much about running dungeons just different ones time after time. Also Oblivions desing is not fit as scaling wouldn't work as MMO.  They do have large worlds, which in way fit for mmo.  Their skill system would need bit more work, but atleast their spell system would be intresting with certain balancing, so you could make custom-made spells which would be personal. Also with added player based real crafting and enchanching items there could be pretty nice stuff. Ofc, I might mess up Morrowind and Oblivion with these two.

I hope Fallout MMO is more in line with Fallout 2, liked it most of the games. Generaly not too big fan of 3.

Ah, ok ok, I see where I went wrong.  I thought Fallout was an original of Bethesda, I didn't know that part of the history where Interplay sold the rights to Bethesda.

I liked Oblivion when I played it.

The skills leveling was a major grind fest.  This put me off playing the last expansion.

Pointing out the Obvious to the Oblivious since 2006

Oblivion was 4. It went Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind and then Oblivion. I know I played them all. They are currently working on TES 5, whether or not it will be a MMO or at least have some sort of multiplayer remains to be seen. Oh and to the poster a couple of slots above this one... Oblivion was just fine out of the box... The player community just improved on an already great game.

Bren

Edit: As for that mod that fixed 1800 "Bugs"... All it did was fix cosmetic things mostly. Stuff like misaligned or overlaping textures, lights that didn't give of actual light and stuff like that. Not really what I would call "bugs" at all. The only really annoying bug that plagues Oblivion is the crash to desktop bug.

Its actually quite understandable, I myself had to do some research to figure out what is going on.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_series  <-- I found this wiki to be informative!

Hope it helps ^.^

Then you obviously weren't there from day 1 at release. The main forum was littered up with rage fom the community. let me adress a few things. but first let me say this. I have the outmost respect for modders and the modding community. My issues are solely with Oblivion and Beth.

I followed oblivion during development and there was this huge rave of a new "radiant A.I." A groundbreaking AI system that would give Oblivion's characters full 24/7 schedules and the ability to make their own choices based on the world around them. Non-player characters eat, sleep, and complete goals all on their own. Sure npc's walk around and enter and leave shops, but they don't really do anything and nothing like what was presented and promised. This was completely removed from the finished game. I remember a demonstration trailer with this woman in her room throwing spells at her cat or something and doing chores?. They also promised unscripted conversations between you and the random townsfolk..another thing that was left out..the conversations was very much scripted.

I bought the game and after a short while of exploring i realized something. The game has an awful level scaling system. all the dungeons and its mobs and loot were all geared towards your level, no matter if you visited them at level 5 or level 30. This effectively killed off the feeling of becoming more powerful and also the feeling of "oh shit there is some high level mobs in there..i can't wait to level up so i can go explore it...they must guard some awesome treasure". even if you managed to open up some of the hardest locked boxes the loot would be equivalent of your level instead of the difficulty of the box. This became even more ridiculous when you became 30 plus and all towns people/town guard started wearing daedric armor instead of regular clothes as soon as you hit that magic level where it became available.

I understand there are/was mods that could fix my issues with the game but i'm one of those gamers that prefer the fixes coming from the game company themselves rather than the community. I'm not a big fan of user created content to enhance my games. I would download a mod or two but i shouldn't have to download mods to fix core gameplay mechanics for it to be playable. Imagine a MMO based on vanilla Oblivion. No thanks

This is not even to mention the amount of bugs the playerbase had to fix. I have spoken and written with enough people to know i wasn't alone in thinking Oblivion sucked. But if you only venture in fanboy communities you would have completely missed the other half.
