That part with the Enterprise vs a Star Destroyer was absolutely classic! Those 2 MMOs will be the ones to watch as far as I'm concerned as I've had it up to my eye balls with Elves and Pixies and such. I've already done the Superhero thing in CoX as well. Right now I'm putting a little more faith in Star Trek Online only because their story driven (or "Episodic" as they call it) content just seems to be set up a little better than SW:TOR. I will definitely try both games but out of the two I think STO will win out for me as I've always been a huge Trek nerd.
Great show though, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on your website for future webcasts including part 2 to this epic win of a MMO showdown. Keep up the good work!

I voted for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Due to the fact, When it comes out it will be the one to beat. Seems like the only well rounded upcoming MMORPG in the next couple of years. When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there! |

Well to start with 3 of those won't be this year and a good chance not next year either. Those are DC Universe, Star Trek Online and Star Wars of the New Republic(not Star Wars Online) Star Wars of the New Republic is a 2012 release. As to Stargate Worlds, if this game makes it to release it will shock many of us. It is in it's death throes at the moment. So that leaves you two games to choose from Aion or Champions Online. Both should be out this year, Aion is Fantasy and Champions of course of the Hero genre. Depends on what you like. Personally I would pick one of the existing games out there. Lord of the Rings online is good, so is Eve. World of Warcraft is not bad either. I did not like any of the new games released last year, they all seemed quite lacking. If you need free, I suggest looking at either Runes of Magic or Perfect World, both decent games that cost nothing if that is your desire. |

I would think that which-ever can utiliize a system such as this would be most successful: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=228442601&blogId=479864964. Granted they geared it more for an MMO. http://www.myspace.com/jhypsyshah |

" The MMO industry is in all time low right now. The games published are either scams , unfinished plagiates of WOW or unfinished plagiates of WOW that are also scams."
Lobotomist is telling the truth. Everybody know the next games will be horrible bad, and will tank. We are not that naive. But we still waste some of our money. I probably will buy the star wars one, because I like kotor. but I doubt I would play one more than 4 months...
Also... great videos, great productions values!.. Mr. Angry Joe. |

Sure, that all looks fine and good but we all know that elf is played by some fat 40 year old virgin sitting in his mom's basement eating Cheesy poofs and wiping his greasy cheese stained fingers on his dirty white t-shirt. I'm not falling for that one!

I don't see any of those games releasing with the ammount of polish, content and quality Aion will have once it reaches our market. The choice for me was easy, as it's the only game on that list that cannot be overhyped (people already know how it plays), overhyped like the turds we've been getting lately and we'll keep getting on the future. |

Hehe, loved the second part, nice movie. Btw, i know Aion is polished since i tried the chinese OB, but if i had to choose a P2P mmorpg, it wouldn't ever be Aion since it's just a pretty generic mmorpg, and to be released by the end of this year i have to say that it sucks, since there are plenty of mmorpgs comming out with great looking features and gameplay...instead Aion simply feels boring as hell. In fact, if i had to choose to keep playing a current P2P or start all over in Aion...i would choose keep playing an older P2P until something better comes out. Maginobi Heroes, C9, Blade & Soul, Tera online, Mortal Online (apart from the ones in the poll) to name a few, seems way more promissing to me, or at least more innovative. |

Whatever you think about Trek VS Wars as movies, the STO MMO is SO going to sink! I am sure SWTOR will beat STO hands down. And come on, whats cooler, Pajama wearing Federation guys or badass Sith? Yeah, those ships were only said to have lasers, but it was made in 1977. Vader would SO wipe the floor with those Federation types in any close combat. And the Death Star would vaporize entire Borg fleets! Ok, I got carried away, lol. Btw, this guy needs a hairdresser for this brows!
EDIT: Ok, the second part was quite entertaining. I had some good laughs. This Joe guy is a bit odd (and he has no clue about MMos), but it was fun enough. ^^

As for Darth Vader... Hokey religions and ancient superstitions are no replacement for a good Phaser by your side kid!
Nah, just kidding... Star Wars rocked... but then again so does Star Trek!

Edit: Also you have to admit that seeing an assimilated Death Star would just be too cool! while(horse==dead) |

Now since all Sci-Fi tech is just made up, any halfay "serious" comparision would take guesswork. But lets take some numbers. The Enterprise E is 686 meters long, and its the Fed flagship. Even a simple Star Destroyer, is 1600 meters long. The Executor Class ship of Vader is 19 KILOMETERS long. You could guess it's firepower would vaporize the entire Federation fleet. Keep in mind, in the KOTOR titles it is hinted what damage great starships in the SW universe can do, they can destroy entire planets. The Death Star II has a diameter of 900 km. DS9 with it's 1500 m is tiny compared to that. Also take into consideration, the Republic or Empire contain ten thousands of systems, the Federation barely over hundred, so they could create many times as much spaceships. Finally, a ST ship would take over a hundred years to cross the galaxy and hundreds of crewmen for the warp drive, while Han Solo and Chewie are enough crew to cross the galaxy in a matter of days. I love Trek too, but SW would beat ST any day.

2) He would try the above, but it would fail and the Enterprise would be in dire distress, but out of nowhere, Q would appear and simply vaporize the entire Empire because he doesn't want to lose his favorite human (Picard).
See. That's what would happen. And SW has -NOTHING- to counter Q XD |

I voted for Star Trek Online. While I am interested in all of them. STO stands out for me, because I like the idea of being able to explore dynamic worlds even if it is just as a ship avatar. I also like the idea of being able to beam down to these planets and explore, do diplomatic missions, and gather resources. Have PVP on worlds and in space. The game I am least interested in is Star Wars The Old Republic. I just think it is too story driven. I beleive it will have cut scenes often to keep the story going, and that is something I just don't like in an mmorpg.

Hmm... flawed your logic is, I do think. ;) Nah, its a matter of tastes. Still, nothing I read from STO really kicks me out of my shoes. Sounds like a lot pf pew-pew in empty space. *yawn* Why play STO when there is already EVE? Sorry, I feel this game is so going to fail, while SWTOR looks like something really new and exciting. Isnt every 2nd thread about how boring the usual MMO grind is? And so I see story as the one big new thing to get us rid of boring grind a la WOW. The other MMos are just "more of the same" to me.

You don't seem very angry. I'm disappointed. Your name was a trick!
Anyway, not to totally derail - I would choose Star Wars Old Republic from that list, although I'm curious about Aion and Champions Online, too. |

In terms of Quality, AION takes the lead. The game has been considered gold for a very long time now, however NCsoft decided to give it a good multi layer polish. Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate will have their niche thanks to fans. Champions online doesn't sound to be heading anywhere. The hype is extremely low.
