Well, it is all a matter of opinions of course. Atlantica and sword of the new world are the ones that really didn't work for me. But other loves them of course, so I wont say that they are bad games or anything but not in my taste. |

And so was Elvis, the Beatles, U2 and the Rolling Stones and not too many people who understand music blast them. Ussually those that would consider any of those amazingly popular artists boring or crappy are laughed out of serious discussion. I'll let YOU draw your own conclusions. Just because something is popular and YOU don't like it, doesn't mean you compare it to the lowest form of something else thats popular. You compare it against something thats actually similar. Not many consider New kids on the Block amazing artists. They had a couple of catchy songs. They were mostly marketed performers, short lived and not quite as good as other more succesful and MORE popular and influential boy bands. WOW will be anything but short lived and its as influential as any MMO ever designed. Any new MMO after 2004 hasn't exactly copied EQ or UO or DAOC. They're all been unfluenced by WOW. MMOs that came out BEFORE WOW have actually changed to compete with it. Of course a person can find anything boring, but lets get real here. One game is known for bring interesting and unique, yet boring. WOW and boring just don't go hand in hand. It was designed as the anti-boring MMO;) But hey, its all personal perference. I didn't call Eve boring just because I think so. Its pretty common knowledge that its boring for most people. |

Though I'll admit that my NKOTB and WoW comparison was a little cheeky - so touche on that one. That being said: I never once stated I didn't like WoW. In fact, I played WoW for 5 years and enjoyed it quite a bit. However, as my tastes matured I found that it became extremely boring and moved on to EvE. Also, New Kids on The Block (80 Mil + in 12+ years) is the second most succesfull "pop boy band" ever, only beaten by Backstreet Boys (100 Mil + in 16+ years) (I didn't include Boyz II Men or Jackson 5 as they're different genres, but even if I did KNOTB is still in the top 4). Further, 12 years is hardly short lived - so I don't think that I'm comparing it to the lowest form of something popular. That leads to the fact that you kind of contradict yourself in your assertions. You are defending an objective view-point of video game "fun factor" by refering to "professional paid critics" yet your analogy is dripping with your own personal bias towards New Kids on The Block. If we go with "professional" stats, I'd say my comparison is pretty fair. But, all of that aside - the topic of this thread is subjective: What has been the most boring MMO you have ever played / tried to play? Not the wors(t), just the most boring to actually PLAY! Which has been the most fun to PLAY? You tried to blast someone's personal opinion (which is what this thread is about) by dragging your "paid critics" into it. I was simply pointing that out. It's irrelevant what most people think. This isn't a thread about what most people think, it's about personal taste - so I stand by my argument that your previous statement about what critics think of EvE or WoW has no bearing here. |

What game have I had my most boring moment while playing: EVE What game has been the most fun to play: EVE Now if you are talking long term boredom I would have to say WoW. The last week before I quite was pure boredom hell. A close second in this would be City of Heroes which hit a bad bore stretch and got me to leave. EVE in fairness has had the single most boring instances but they are usually not more than one day and then I get excited about something new.

Most boring: EVE and MXO (not into sci-fi I guess) Although I am looking to play Fallen Earth when it comes out. Most fun: EQ just becuase it was my first I think. I really like Vanguard it just does not have the support to keep my interest. |

Most fun: Every MMO I've ever played for more than 3 days... They all have something that grabs your attention for at least a little while and they are fun.
Most Boring: Every MMO I've ever played for more than 3 days... They all eventually get boring as you get to the point where you've done everything multiple times before. You will eventually quit every MMO you'll ever play because it will eventually bore you to tears... it may take 4 days, 4 months or 4 years but every MMO gets boring eventually and you move on.

Most boring = any one of you average asian grinders. And also Wow. Its just as bad cause its a quest grinder...run here...run there....most of my time playing it was spent running... Most enjoyable = Warhammer online. i Dont care what anyone sais i feel more human interaction with constant open rvr fields, public quests and scenarios.. Its true you have to find a good server and know when the peak hours are, and once you do and find non-stop pvp action its a blast. |

my bost boring experience (not counting games i played less than a week) would have to be FFXI. Forced grouping and subclassless discrimination just arent my cup of tea. I loved the world and a few people I met in it, but the gameplay was just... BoRiNg.
the most fun I've had would have to be either Guild Wars or Diablo II: LoD. (yeah I know they both aren't "mmorpg" but they were multiplayer online and had stories :) ) They both allowed me to pick it up for an hour and accomplish something! |

Most boring; imPerfect World International, leave brain at login grindfest. Second most boring; Sword of the boring grind while afk New World. SotNW only made second place as you can do other things while playing, such a sleep, go to work etc. Least Boring by about 6000 hours, but maybe not considered an MMO; GuildWars

Most Boring-World of Warcraft...It was such a grindfest and lacked any real depth/storyline. How people practically pray to this thing I will never know. Most Enjoyable- Guild Wars and SWG (pre-CU/NGE)....I know some will say GW is not an MMO and i wont restart that argument there but having played through all three chapters and the expansion, I can say I have really enjoyed the storylines. While I still feel Factions wasnt fully integrated into the continual storyline the way it should have, Nightfall's storyline more than made up for it and Eye of the North was the perfect conclusion to Propheses. As for SWG, It was a great game till some moron decided that the CU and NGE were good ideas, essentially killing a promising and fun game. While it still exsists and I give the current devs a few props for trying to fix the mess, I fear it will never recover and will fully die when SWtOR comes out..even if its bad, it will still be the final nail in SWG's coffin..

Most Boring: Eve by far.. there has been no other game that I have tried where I don't have to play it to get ahead. Add into the insane travel times and this tops the list. Honorable Boring Mention: WoW, played it for a couple weeks and found nothing really redeeming. The toons move so sloooow that it bored me to tears. Most Fun: City of Heroes. You have to love the pace of the game as well the sheer volume of character options. |
