is this really where we want this genre to head? the easy, mind numbing wack a mole games with no community no goals giant a giant circle jerk frag fest?

could solo quests get anymore dumbed down ... and then on top of that theres no social mobs, so "hey i need that dwarf commander inside the building full of other dwards ... here let me attack him while all other watch. Grouping? do people even group up for anything in this game? heck i found it more of a deterent if i tried to group with someone. And of course Death, because we wouldn't want to bruise someones ego ... death will be a free trip back to your bind point nothing more.

you like WoW or WARs style, great good for you im glad you enjoy your game. but can someone create a game for those of us that want corpse runs, don't want our hands held with quests, want to have epic mob encounters and fight alongside other likeminded people while exploring dungeons. I want fear as i enter a new zone and i want to feel that accomplishment as i get to max level.

oh and before someone says it ... Darkfall sucks too.

Even i a casual gamer who enjoyed wow found warhammer to be a watered down version of wow coated in shite.

There are many other games to play, just shut it down and continue your search : )

Everyone knows WAR was trying to be wow, and everyone knows that you can't out-wow WoW (yet, people said the same about eq until wow out-eq'd it)

Funny you claim to be a hardcore MMO fan yet you played WAR in the 1st place. whatever, if you were like me, you'd play EVE, DF,or old school UO shard. you wouldn't make this thread if you were one of us

And btw, WAR's death penalty was clearly outlined in their FAQ. It's not like they ripped you off or something. You either didnt read the FAQ or wanted a watered down MMO yourself. That's all there is to it

Theres a lot of hardcore MMO out there. If you cant play them, then you most likely just dont belong

Now all of you know this but I'll say it anyway.The Warhammer universe existed long before the Warcraft universe did. And yes WoW was fun while there were smart people playing it, but look where it's going now- down the drain. They've made the game so retard-proof that they are losing their more experienced players. Plus now that I've played both games, I realize that WAR isn't a WoW imitator, its the other way around. So much of the content of WoW  is parallel to WAR that it is hard to distinguish.

Try and find an intelligent group of people to share your experience with, because there is never going to be an intelligent MMO. The sad truth is that simple-minded, easy, one-button games make the money.

Not this again. Warhammer was not the 1st frakkng MMO to come out. Really, EQ1 established the carebear PVE genre. After that, along came WoW. Sure, they may have stolen some basic IP concepts like elves, dwarf, and all that. But none of that crap is original anyway.

When WAR comes out it ripped off the 'dumb down' approach from WoW. Publishers still dont get WoW didnt pave a golden brick road for all to follow. They simply established a gold mine for themselves

WAR does rip the crap out of WoW. Like WoW, its an uninspired EQ clone

However I still disagree with the OP. There is Shadowbane, UO, AC1, EVE, Linkrealms, and list goes on and on. Hardcore MMO gamers do not lack games to play. May hands are FULL these days

I love how this scrub mentions DF after he specifically stated that Darkfall sucks too (and trust me, it's as close to suck as you will get for something you actually have to spend money on). Not to mention EVE is like 6 or 7 years old and UO...please. We want a new game that isn't some garbage like WAR. I didn't even have to play more than 5 minutes of that game to make my decision (luckily I did the open beta and didn't actually buy it). Exclamation marks over quest holders heads and map markers everywhere? check. Lame WoW combat? check. No death penalty? check. What a piece of sh!t.

The problem lies with the games being put out lately (and by lately I mean for the past four or five years). As soon as every company tried to ride the WoW train this genre has been one stagnant, watered down, n00bfest.

EQ was pretty hardcore like that/. And you are in luck, you can even play your own race in it: troll.

To the OP:

I feel your pain.

As a longtime Warhammer (TT and FB) player, I was hoping for a dark, gritty, in-depth world. Instead I got 'Capture-the-Flag-for-a-Monthly-Fee'. WAR was so bad I cancelled my sub to it and WoW. That's how tired I was of this crap.

There are other MMO's out there to try, tho. I still like COH/COH for fast action, and EVE for in-depth gaming. If you look around  I'm sure you'll find something you'll like. Just don't follow the "OMG This New Game Will Be the Best!!" train. Ask about some older games that still have a strong player base. That's the real sign of success.

Oh, yeah. Darkfall still looks to be teh suck. I'm waiting to see if they can pull the 'rabbit that lays golden pwnage eggs' out of their hat, tho.

So Warhammer Online is a watered down WoW clone because the OP was stupid enough to play a PvP-based game thinking it's a PvE game? Crying about boring quests in WAR makes about as much sense as crying about there not being any Elves in Eve Online.

I feel your pain on this one to.  The FAQ's didn't fill me with hope but being a hardcore table top gamer years ago, which does require full tactics and the pain of defeat was far too real, I decided to try it.  You hit the nail on the head regarding WAR, I found it amusing for about 1 week then it started to really bug me how there was very little meaning in PvP and it really didnt matter if you won or lost.  As you say the death penalty was just a respawn and you just rinse and repeat.  I know the game wasn't advertising hardcore play but it was far ligher than I expected and it is hard to imagine how the designers didn't see how winning meant nothing.  Maybe they wanted to entertain people who wanted PvP but not actually feel any pain.. dunno but its my biggest dissapointment in an MMO

Lol, I'd love to know where they've gone to, because there isn't a game going at the moment that isn't a cookie-cutter "kill 15 of this, bring me 20 of that" grind-fest.  Please God, will some company with lots of money, a creative team and some innovation bring something NEW out!

Please use your brain. My point is, you aren't going to be in PvE heaven in a PvP game. Even Eve Online has some of the most boring PvE content, but nobody with a IQ over 50 cries about it because the content of the game revolves around the PvP. The same applies to Warhammer Online. PvE is pretty much just filler. Only a stupid person would think the developers of  a PvP game would not put most of their effort in the PvP aspect of the game. Anyone thinking WAR is a watered down WoW has clearly never played WAR or WoW for more than 2 seconds and/or just just trying to look dense.
