Just look at the join date of all the people raving about this game. I've played it, I would almost expect a gameboy to be capable of a game with similar gameplay (hehe asking a little much, but still being honest). There is no way a free game should be the top rated game on a site like this. Its free for a reason. Good MMOs have depth in all aspects of the game....it's not there in this game. I can see where the combat can become addicting and occupy someone's time, this game is not a top rate MMORPG...sorry. |

Also has a random quest generating system. It's got about 40-50 crafting skills and crafted stuff is useful. The guild system is extremely in depth, the deepest I've seen in a game. Guild crafting, owning and developing towns. End game content could be a little better, but it has 7 individual instances, and what, 7 or 8 guild/nation instances. You've got what, 9 main character classes, plus about 20 mercenary classes with more being added soon. The only place it's really lacking is the visual customization department. But if you judget the game on its gameplay, not its graphics (as you seem to have done with that gameboy comment) you would find it quite deep. (And if you meant in other aspects than graphics, you've apparently never played any older computer games, many of them were more complex than more modern games, since they were aimed at a vastly different audience back then). http://my.lotro.com/character/landroval/galadthryth/ |

This game was raved about in the beginning of being something new, a game you were not expected to get bored of, and if you did happen to get bored the company would buy your character! Well I played the game a while back right before launch and quickly found that it was not the game I had hoped it would be (though I didn't really follow the game prior to it's launch). I quit after roughly a day and a half's worth of playing and almost felt a sort of relief to be rid of it. After playing many MMOs I certainly would not rank this one among the top, and in fact would probably rate it lower on the scale than your usual top 20. It's an asian grindfest with turn-based strategy meshed into it. I don't think the game was meant to make you feel like you were a true part of it and it always gave me the sense that I was playing a game not living within a world. Personally I wish more people would realize there are much better games out there to play and that Atlantica needs to crawl back into the dirty hole it escaped from... For the Templars... |

You can’t ever win if you’re always on the defensive, to win, you have to attack. |

you can play atlantica online even if you did not use their item mall, you can still do the quest and make FL or pvp with other players... how sad... because this game is much better to a p2p mmo ^^ |

I played this game for along time. Since open beta started until about 2 weeks ago. The game itself isnt bad. The quest system is good, the combat is fun the free league system isnt horrible there are alot of nice things about this game. The thing that made me quit was I got tired of the cash shop. Everyone says this game is free to play but honestly if you play end game, ie near max level its impossible to play without cash shop items. Now if you are really smart it is possible to get them without spending the money yourself but someone is going to have to buy the items from the cash then for you. I got to lvl 120, max level when I quit. Basically up until lvl 80-90 or so you can do without the cash shop. After that though mobs becoming much harder to kill. It basically becomes to hard to kill them without either really good weapons or using a blessing potions / license. It becomes even more apparent after 100 when you start moving into america. The mobs have so many hitpoints that even there cash shop scrolls dont kill mobs in 1 hit anymore. Players actually trying to level normally without cash items are going to have a very difficult time. Also items are really rare at the end game. So rare that its not really possible to just get 2 or 3 or whatever like you can at lower levels to enchant items. For higher end items your going to be using Ori (another cash shop item) to level gear. On top of all this comes the mount boxes. They introduce a new mount or wings every month or so in order to get poeple to spend money. The problem is until other games if you want to buy a new mount you cant just buy the mount. You have buy a box which has like 13 items in it and 1 of them is the mount so you have like a 1 in 13 chance of actually getting what you want. Honestly I like the game but the cash shop ruins it for me. As such I stopped playing it and wont play it again. If this game was pay per month I would keep playing it. |

its a good game at first, but you stat to realize that if you want to be competitive you'll have to buy Gcoins for items, and it can become more expensive monthly than pay to play games.
they give you liscenses when your a noob that gets you hooked on them, then they take em away and the most realistic way of you getting em is buy paying real money for the items. I dunno this was the first f2p game i played they may all be like that. |

The game is great. It's like speed chess. You will never feel more great than being a level 30-something and beating a level 50 player. It's wonderful. I disagree you have to buy GCoins to be competitive. I have many friends who are high level and have yet to buy any GCoins. My gripes with the game are few but significant for me... The only PVP is FL until you are a high level. Former xFire user... I only wanted a game tracker and messenger, not a screenshot taker, video recording, broadcasting piece of bloatware. |

extra inventory liscense = $12.00 i dunno how you play the game without it
teleportation liscene = $10.00
just some examples they give you both of these for free when you first start playing, then its pretty much impossible to get without paying real money for em |

While I've starting to feel the need of cash items. I've noticed the only real one I need is the Autobattle. This game can get VERY boring. doing the samething over and over leveling my mercs. $5 a month isn't bad. But it adds up quckly. |

And the answer on why Atlantica is so high rated? Playing computergames for over 30 years now. Even when internet did not excist yet :). Only know 2 other mmo's very well (high lvl). Martial Heroes and Perfect World. Played both for over 3 years. Why now Atlantica? Because MH was just killing mobs and grinding after lvl 50. Really boring at lvl 95, made me "sick". And PW? In my eyes still the greatest F2P mmo ever, and so great, that it got to many players and I couldnt even do my dailies anymore because of lags and DC's. So after trying RoM (Runes of Magic), with a weird lvl-cap of 50-50 (did "that" in about two month), finally found Atlantica, very unique, very chalanging in combat and in crafting. So Atlantica is getting an 8.5 indeed (I'm now lvl 76). And PW? Still at least a 9 :)
Disadvantage Atlantica: The gambling. Not always getting what you want when you wanna buy special items in the item-mal. Oh yes, licenses, scrolls/pots aso are not the problem. But the boxes with about 12-13 items in it. And i dont like that. I'm playing F2P because I wanna decide what i wanna buy. Where/when, for what I spend my money. And not what the GM wanna give me or what the game gives me when I pay each month (Like Eve, WoW). So people of Atlantica, change that as quick as possible please. |

Youve been playing games for 30 years and you rank this game an 8.5 and perfict world a 9? Unless you got some odd tastes....you must have missed the vast majority of well made mmorpgs. Possibly you just refuse to pay to play, which is fine, and then i could mabey understand how you could rate both game so highly. I know some people prefer the asian style mmorpg as well, and even at that there are better asian f2p mmorgs than pwi and atlantica. If you can afford to pay to play i strongly suggest you check some of them out. Hell even a bunch of f2p grinders on this site are better made than pwi. But yeah atlantica is an alright game, you gotta be a huge fan of this style of combat to really love it though.
Also, i dunno how you think crafting in atlantica is very challanging......again you must not get out much in the mmorpg world to think this. Mabey i missed the complicated part about it, perhaps you could go into detail a bit more. |

The high rating here caught my eye and at least for the early levels (1-40) it's 100% deserved. Seems a lot of people are prejudiced against free mmos. They shouldn't be, times are changing it seems. Anyways back to the game. I'm on Delphi server. If anyone here tries the game out refer Kukih if you like. :) |

I just started playing Atlantica and one thing I noticed is the challenge. Being a turn-based MMO, it's really a whole new experience for me. And with more than 1 character to control it becomes more challenging. It's really a game of strategies and tactics. |
