They are the complete opposite of wow, they are older waaaaaaaay more conservative and generally untolerant of ppl they think will ruin thier game or attempt to challenge any view they have of thier "perfect" world. That said I played wow for a period of 4 months about 2 years ago so I am not a wow fanboy before you flame me. I used that just as an example of a generally accept "bad" community. In reality I believe eq 2's community is equally as bad in a different way. |

I guess there are those types in all games. My personal experince has been a more mature community with EQ2. |

I reactivated EQ2 and have been playing for about 2 weeks now, and I have to say I found the community to be suprisingly horrible. I'm currently playing on nagafen, so I doubt the community on my server is typical of the PvE servers, but still I was suprised by the level of immaturity, anger and hostility. It's dissapointing, because the game looks great visually (thanks to the advice from the sticky on these forums), has great races and classes, and lots of content... but I like to have the option for at least a little PvP occasionally, and EQ2 is very all-or-nothing in that aspect. |

Did you guys even read my post?! Do you realize you are sounding like you are talking in wow general chat? or even the eq 2 1-9 chat? In my opinion they are very similiar. I am basing my opinion of the community from a number of guilds and groups I came into contact with. They lack a modern sense of the world, a humor that can be described a social norm for for a 20 something year old, and even a respect for those that just like to have fun in a game rather than make it thier job to level thier measly 15 person guild. this post is intented as a warning for those that are considering eq 2 as a game to play and have fun in. My favorite game is Asherons call and old swg both of which ive played for years and had great communities in my opinion. Respectful, tolerant, humorous, and most of all play to have the most fun possible. eq 2 is in a world of thier own... literally and not in a good sense of the word. |

yes I did, but I didn't have the same experiences you did, possibly due to my server choice or the fact that I'm a low level player without a guild. If I was going to compare my experience with the community to that of WoW, yes I do agree the community in EQ2 is worse, just for different reasons. |

In my dealings with the community I see the same chat and maturity I see dealing with my peers in real life. I find most people have a great sense of humor and actually enjoy helping new players out. There are some jerks of course, but I would say that the majority are very nice . Now I know it is just your opinion on how you see the community in EQ2, but over all, even on this site Most people will say that EQ2 is one of the best. |

the Op doesnt give any examples
on the Blackburrow server, where I play, the 1-9 chat channel is friendly and supportive |

Very different on Antonia Bayle. You get all manner of pondlife coming to the server just because it's the highest population, and as we all know, the MMO community has a large amount of undesirables and this is where you find them. They're the ones that choose a server because it's the busiest, and nothing else. They're often weeded out by the time people hit 20-29 though. On a slightly different note, there was someone (on AB) in 70-79 chat last night looking for an avatar raiding guild. They said they'd done their homework and rerolled on AB for just this reason (from The Bazaar). Sadly, because of the insane lag you get on AB at times, a successful avatar raid only occurs roughly every other month, and not during 'peak' hours. I felt sorry for that person and explained that Guk and Mistmoore are generally considered to be the top raiding servers. Well, aside from the Russian servers of course - those guys are raiding machines! |

I started playing on Crushbone and the community was notably poor. Talking with some people that seemed nice on that server revealed to me that the server was even notorious (at least to the people on the server) for having a fairly bad community. I decided to switch to Everfrost and it's pretty darn great there. I think it just depends on the server. Everfrost seems quality. |

I wonder if it would help to have some sort of screening process for posters on here - maybe require them to submit a few posts first that could be reviewed by someone to ensure that the person wanting to post is at least capable of something other than trolling. A generalization like this is just stupid. Not only are there no facts, but the truth of the matter is that you just had a bad experience. To extrapolate from that to say that an entire community should be "watched out for" seems spiteful and immature. To post it as a fact without being able to provide any details, despite repeated requests, seems more than a little disingenuous. |

Large groups of people tend to be a little more rowdy, because it is easy to blend into the crowd and there are to many people to keep track of reputations. Smaller groups of people tend to be hive minded and cliquish.
There are an equal number of good aspect that come from large groups and small groups.
People are the same no matter what game you play. It is just a matter of proportions. You can find awesomeness and jackassery no matter where you go. |

You didn't say which server, that's part of the problem. You also didn't elaborate; humour is a personal thing, what you find funny I may not. If by community you mean level 1-9 chat, then yes AB is rather nasty. If by community you mean decent people to group and guild with, then EQ2 is one of the better games out there. There are more mature people in EQ2 then in any other MMO out there with the exception of LOTRO and some of the older games, maybe maturity isn't what you're looking for? |

Exactly, they are one of the best community's out there. My website is closed temporarily. Hopefully it will only be a short delay. |

I agree, although I didn't love the game that much, the community was definately mature and helpful. |

Lol, so its bad to stick up for something you enjoy? MMkay. Newsflash, most people are 'untolerant' of things/people that adversely affect them, as well they should be. Realizing we're speaking in generalities since you gave no detail in your post, why should a community that's playing a relatively healthy game be receptive to whatever boat-rocking you brought to the table? If you don't like the game/community, the wonderful thing about free will is that you're not forced to be there, and you can go find something you like better instead of looking to change something other people already like. I never had a problem with the channel on EQ2 or the community, mostly everyone is respectful and I have been know too kick people out of groups for not being respectful as for the who cat. The audence is a bit for mature just because of the fact that wow is a fav too the younger audionce chat 1-9 is more of a ooc chit chat channel with people just goofing off and helping others out mind you I am on a RP server so :D |
