You have me at a disadvantage sir, please let me know what you play if you dare!
You are obiviously aprehensive about what you play, otherwise you would have said "i dont play WoW, i play ......" Could it be that what you play is far worse than AoC? It is easy to come on a public forums and make comments like you have, and run away when challenged like a coward!

I believe Forumfall was/is a Darkfall advocate. AoC is leaps and bounds ahead of the cesspool that is Darkfail. |

So far so good for me. I've been playing a bit over a month now and I'm really enjoying it as a Ranger. Something about the combo system just sits right with me. Like someone else said, it rocks to some, doesn't to others. LOVING the city building so far. My guilds city is under fairly constant attack and its keeping us happily busy. Fortunately the guild Im in rocks and the social aspect of RPing is flipping amazing. LOl go figure RP would be so good on AoC of all games. |

Could someone please refer to my post on page 4 and answer my questions, as nobody else did?
Also I have an additional questions, have any new servers been created? Or are any new servers being planned? If I do return I would like to start on a fresh server. |

Funcom is a company that turns games around into diamonds case in point anarchy online. Were mistakes made, sure. Im trying to decide whether to activate my box now or wait for 1.05. I personally believe there was a need for a trial. people were practically screaming for it, to have a go at funcom for offering that is rediculous. |

New servers created? Hell, people in the official forums are still asking for more character transfers to be made available so they can get off their dead servers. They're even so desperate, they're okay with paying for transfers. |

Originally posted by Drachasor Plays as advertised? I'm just an average consumer and didn't heavily check out AoC admittedly, but I from what I got it was supposed to be a Conan-esque game. Why then when I read this thread are people talking about itemization again and again and again? Gear not looking cool SHOULD be an non-issue, but talking about getting cool gear should also be a non-issue, by and large. Conan was not about get epix, and in fact the central characters don't have much gear at all. To turn that base into a heavy gear-based game seems very foolish to me. They should have gone another route and found a more appropriate way to reward players. Its a slippery slope. People complained because gear did not mean anything. Now that Funcom wants to make it mean something people are saying it will be too much like WoW. The new director assured us that the change will not be drastic so that skill still means more than gear, yet gear upgrades are worth it. The new patch that addresses these issues isnt even out yet. Arent we jumping to conclusions? |

And the comment about WOW was not true at launch, and it certainly is not true almost a year after launch. Whenever someone compares AOC to WOW, they don't include all the 5 man dungeons in WOW, but they split up the AOC content to make the number as high as possible. Back in the day, you could do WoW's endgame in about the same time. People called it content because they would run the same raid over and over and over and over again for gear. Gear gave WoW the appearance of having a deeper end game. Then you throw in the fact that there is no progression in AOC.. gear is totally borked and the dungeons don't progress. I never said those things. Who are you quoting now???????????????? You can throw out meaningless numbers all you want about the number of dungeons and twist them any way you want... but the fact remains that the majority of AOC players at endgame don't do anything but run around doing meaningless pvp. In WOW, at the one year point, there was clear guild progression through endgame raids that had loot and difficulty progression. Again, you are saying WoW had more of an endgame because of loot variety. In patch 1.05 AoC is addressing loot. Therefore people may end up running raids and dungeons in AoC day after day after day just like they did in WoW. WOW also had about 6-8 different zones that had quests for lvl 60 characters. AOC has 1. WOW had repeatable quests and reputations.. AOC doesn't have anything but meaningless pvp dueling. Please tell me the 8 zones in WoW that have had level 60 quests. Were their dailies back then? I dont think so. Are you counting areas like Winterspring (lvl 55+), because if you are, I should be able to include AoC level 70 areas as an 80 area. Repeatable quests and rep grinding are overrated and boring, unless you like grinding Furblogs in Felwood for hours.. Also, please tell me how AoC pvp is meaningless after the new patch? It's funny you said ' wow at launch'... this is one of my biggest problems with AOC... they are just so slow at adding anything. The game is now almost a year past launch, and people still think of it as a newly launched game. I never said "WoW at launch", I said "WoW at this point of its life" |

Different people, I assume. Further, you have a crafting system, gear with stats, and other things screaming out that gear is supposed to mean something. Naturally some people are going to look at that and wonder what is up if gear does almost nothing. The confusion could have been avoided entirely if the gear didn't have stats, however. |

Well ... O.K. I started this thread to inform people of my new experiances with the current game in hopes that they would "try it again" ... Hmm ... Oh yeah ... Funcom is offering a Free Trial and working hard to 'fix" the game in hopes of getting people to "Try" the game sooo ... yeah ... we are trying to patch that for you. However any constructive criticisum or ideas you have to help "patch that" would also be greatly appreciated. I for one hope you get what you want. :) |

The art direction in this game is just so weird, they have the graphics and the skill to make things cool and then they dont USE it?!? Its just weird. And in trying to get people to come back they are making the game more and more like WoW, and we all know how that will end up.
afoaa good stuff thanks for your input, however, based on the combat system alone this game will never be anything like WoW. Not to mention the breasts, decapitations, blood and gore, and yes the graphics. I'm guessing your talking about the itemization and gear stats when you make comparison to WoW. Also I see that you later describe what you mean by making the art less bland and your describtions of how it should look sound awesome, I for one would love to have half naked slave girls at my feet as I nuke some clown into oblivion, hopefully they change to and/or implement that art style. |

As a former end game vet, former AoC guild leader of a disbanded 200 man guild power house , nothing short of complete redesign and company change will bring us back. The fact is that the game is still instanced, and Funcom just isnt reliable. AoC is not worth coming back to and the vets are quite scarred from their previous foray into AoC.
Sorry your not able to forgive, I'll bet your a former SWG pre-CU player as well. You word your reply as if you speak for all vets. I am a veteran of the game and I am not so scarred that I can't give the game another try, so please don't presume to speak for all of us. As far as Funcom being reliable I would say they proved their reliability with a lil game called AO, an eight year old game which people are still playing to date.

AoC is not back, you're back in AoC. Which is not completely irrelevant, but damn close. |
