Is there no escape?

There are only two races in Aion and they are not Elves or Dwarves. Or so I thought, with the character generator there seems to be preset templates to make you look like an Dwarf or Elf. That’s the way it looks in the new video anyway. So we can’t actually be a Dwarf for roleplaying, but we would make Thorin proud! You can even come in at a suitably Dwarven size.

Is there no escape, when will MMO’s leave the dirt and leaf eaters behind? Maybe I got it wrong, if it was just that the character creation was so good you could make a Dwarf if you want to that would just show how good the CC was. But she seemed to click on a ‘Dwarf option’, I don’t want to see Dwaves in Aion! Will there be a Smurf option too? :D

There are no dwarfs or elfs.

There is no dwarf nor elf lore.

You can however make a dwarflike or elflike character should you wish. You could make an ugly troll too, a loli, the hulk, or any celebrity you wish as well. It illustrates the char creators many possibilities. They will probably have some sort of dwarflike/elflike preset to use as a basemodel, I assume because dwarfs and elfs are popular. Like they said they have around 20 basic models you can use as presets to shape your character from.

Be prepared to see a lot of weird-looking immersion-disrupting freaks running around in starter areas. People playing Korean retail report more than half the population playing insanely small characters. Probably because they think it benefits them in PvP. The amount of freaky chars will probably be lower in high level areas.

Roleplayers will probably just have to ignore them I guess.

THERE IS NO ESCAPE. For some reason midgets in mmos are here to stay :/

EDIT: If you make a tiny, blue, chubby asmodian with a big head and dye your hat and trousers white you got yourself a smurf. I bet it's possible.

"Dwarf" button?

They took about 15 seconds to convert a character from the default to something that looked dwarf like, clicking multiple slide bars and drop down menus...

Did you watch the video or just listen to her talk?

I mean I know shes kinda cute...

Point being, they wanted to make a game where you could be whatever you wanted graphically, so your character was really yours, and they did that.

And that video didn't show the current status of the character creator. Now you can change the size of the legs, arms, eye color, and about everything, dwarves are more perfect after the latest huge patch in Korea.

If there are people out there with a sence of humor then yea there is no escaping it.  Then again I really don't like to see nothing but beautiful char's running around that all look the same also.

I would rather have the weird char's in the game instead of the Dev's giving us limits on what we can or cannot do.

I don't understand this post, is there a cry for devs to limit character creation so that people wouldn't be able to use their imagination? That's something already annoying in most games it would be a shame if Aion west went that way.

You can make your character dwarf-like by making them small and I believe you can adjust ear size to make them look elf-like but there are no dwarves or elves. I still need a good reason to get excited about Aion but that last video they showed was pretty cool.

Why this fuzz

Even in real life there are people that look like dwarves or elves, even like ogres weather by choice or forced by mother nature...

Well I am relieved, it seems there is not a single press pick a dwarf or elf feature, though some think there may be most think that you have to customise to create the look. That’s fine, I just see Aion as a game that will take us away from a lot of the over used concepts of old MMO’s. So far that has proved the case, this seemed to be a throwback to me.

P.S there is no one in the world who looks like a real Dwarf or Elf, unless they have been made up for a film. A beaded dwarf man does not a Tolkien Dwarf make. :)

There is no *dwarf button*. The fact that they made a character that resembled a dwarf is just testament to how easy to use and detailed the character creator is.

Exactly... sounds like someone just likes to complain. Just because someone is short with a beard, doesn't mean anything as far as the game itself. It has an indepth character creation screen... sounds a little ridiculous to make a thread ranting about that.

To me this is how character creation should be. I don't like it when it goes overboard like CoH. To me this is just right. But also when you don't have a lot of races a more indepth character creation is very important.

No problem here.

I had a chance to make a character at PAX last year, and I have to agree that the customization is great without being over the top. I made a character so short that she came to the knees of one of the other guys I was playing with. I honestly think that the choices are going to be such that you can make your character pretty unique.

just curious lol ah god im so glad i never kept an eye on this game waiting would have drove me insane

and now i notice it and its not far away mwahahahhaaaaa, now i hope it doesnt suck but i liked l2

and this seems like a less grindy version.

no, arms legs etc are locked.  One thing I found funny though is that you cant change eye color

In the korean client you can, and the chinese client will when they add it.
