Come on Kiba daddy got a nice juicy steak for you... |
I came across this ARTICLE The writer listed these top FIVE: 1) The Assassination of Lord British - Ultima Online - August 8, 1997
2) LEEEEROY JENKINS! - World of Warcraft. "I don’t know any MMORPG player that hasn’t seen this, hell even my friends that have never played a MMORPG know about this." If anyone has any good SCREEN shots from the ORIGINAL event pls post.
3) The Epic Heist - EVE Online - November 2005″
4) Plague Outbreak - World of Warcraft - September 2005
I thought it was kind of a coincidence that BLIZZ re did this PRIOR to their WotLK release when they had the ZOMBIE Outbreak.
5) Death of the Sleeper - EverQuest - November 15-17, 2003
SOME of these I remember FONDLY......Ahhh Memories.

1. WoW mount for a mount. Woman sells her body for WoW gold to buy a mount. And yes she did get the mount and so did he.
Just doesn't get any better than that. |

My most memoriable event for an MMO was when I was playing a gnome magician named Thedisious Xal'balrogadorn (I had to have a GM give me that last name) and I was at the Estate of Unrest and a bunch of trolls and stuff started pouring out of the manor and started attacking everyone. Man EQ back then, so many special events all the time. And the game felt so real... MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit. |

The zombie event right before WotLK launched.
I played on a RP server and it was absolutely awesome just watching the screams and chaos as the different sects of the army tried to organize their people...to no avail.
The Cathedral was packed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

For myself, 1: SWG Combat upgrade/revamp/balance. Massive secrecy around what was meant to be many fixes to the game. Turned out to be an "Evergalaxies" patch that added levels. I left just before it happened after speaking with Thunderheart on the issue. 2: EVE, CCP nerf war declarations. An alliance I was in called Privateers had war deced every corp and alliance in EVE and was raping empire. CCP went from their old policy of "if you can't stand the heat join an NPC corp" to "Errrm war decs have been bugged for the last few years so we're errm fixing it!". In essence they made it impossible to do what Privateers did again, the way I saw it was that Privateers had won EVE so I canceled my subscription. 3: EVE, T20 gate. A player had discovered a CCP DEV had been assisting an alliance in a very unethical fashion. CCP denied any wrong doing and claimed it was a smear campaign. Once confronted with the evidence (chat logs from the alliances own website with T20 and others) they 'fessed up. They had discoivered this cheating 8 months earlier themselves and swept it under the carpet, failing to do good on their promise to fire any DEV caught engaging in wrong doing. They then banned the whistleblower and left the alliance leaders alone who then proceeded to post the whistleblowers home and work phone number and address on the EVE forums encouraging others to harrass him. He allegedly lost his job and nothing was done about it to this day! 4: SWG, NGE. My GF was still playing her Jedi at the time that it was announced that the Jedi it took her a year to get and level would be made a starter profession in two weeks! Even after someone had blown the whistle on them SOE had denied the existance of the NGE, the CEO had given a promise on the forums never to change SWG again. However the whole game was thrown into pandemonium, this was announced just after the latest expansion which was made 80% null and void for most purchasers. SOE refused refunds but after the threat of court action relented, SWG lost a minnimum of 200k subs within 3 months and was a ghost town within 6 months. They refused to roll back the servers so it went from 350k subs at its peak to an alleged 7k today. 5: AoC. Was meant to be the new messiah but was launched with a horrific memory leak and less than half the features promised. Also it was instanced to the point of lunacy making it little more than Guild Wars 2, nearly everything was broken or just plain sucked. The best part was level 1-20 which is actually a single player experience in the noob area. AoC is a single player pretending to be an MMORPG, I now refer to it as Age of Crapnan!

1. My first Mount in WoW, this is the best feeling in this game -after running through a gigantic world with questgivers and mobs who aren't even in the same country 2. War of Emperium in Ragnarok Online - just the biggest Effect overload ever seen. But THAT cool^^ 3. Playing WAR on release day. It was pretty cool, just waiting for 30 secs to join a bg...but now it's a sinking boat (however, the classes where crappy) 4. WoW - killing Kel Thuzad in the new expansion. I memorize because it was shit. It's too easy. No Challenge at all - I left WoW because of that. 5. Ragnarok Online - all new expansions are good memories... Erm...yes. |

1 mabey a crappy one but one of my most memorizable. When EQOA just launched i sat on top of a hill and watched the sun go down. wich was so beautifull. 2 some betetr ones now. WoW in the early days pre expansion. Server Bladefist, We got a report of a massive Horde raid traveling trough the arathi highlands and went towards the wetlands. an obvious attack on IronForge. We the alliance gathererd on the top of the hill in front of the gate where we lined up preparing to stand our ground. (300+ allaince orso and i think that number goes for horde asswell) when the horde arived evryone dismounted and then the server went. gggghh ghhheer ghrrrehh and it died :P 3 WoW again :P Arathi basin battleground premade vs premade me a tank in half AQ half Dreadnaught tanking gear got swarmed by about 5 horde and that number increased rapidly on the blacksmith flag. my premade teamw as capping the goldmine and told me to sit tight and hope they would still be in time. and they where. when all the horde showed up most where trying to cap the flag wich i disrupted. and more of em started coming capign and attacking me. The whole episode lasted 2 minutes with about 10 horde rampaging on the flag and me. i in the end died. when the team arived (healer was jsut a second too late) but we kept the flag and won that shit :) 4 EQOA as str sta based paladin pulling a entire mine of minotaurs (some 40+ creatures) and keeping them on me. crazy battles those where:P 5th i gues i can think of another WoW but this one is better i gues. EQOA without expansion. level 50 max no CM's. Our server decided to attack the avatar of fear. This guy oneshots whatever it hits basicly :P but so we went with about 200 people to his chamber, we couldnt even see half the players because of the visibility limit. WE pet pulled him and pets where dieing one after another. then ofc tanks agroed him, and he basicly went as a raging ball of fury trough all the people there. until he got to me.. he somehow glitched and was hitting me for only 1000 damage. (i had about 6k hp roughly). we did not down him. healers wernt expecting anyone to active outlive his fury so they forgot to heal. perfect chanse to kill him wasted. but. it was fun to do anyway.
i have to put in a 6th :P Zombie outbreak pre wotlk launch . The chaos the death zombies evrywhere. ahha i had fun XD |

Chronological order but no other: The first "nomicide", Bobs versus Freds, in UO. The first kill of Lady Vox I was in. For some reason it was so much more epic than Nagafen. (server first) The first time I swam to the bottom of Kedge keep and nearly lost my corpse in the abyss at phynigass or whatever his name was. The first killing of Onyxia I was in.(server first), Killing of Cthun I was in. (server first). Strike that, getting raped over and over by Cthun before he was "tuned".

We were all gathered outside of bestine and a wave of mobs came and attacked the toons there. Was the best end of beta i ever saw. First time using speeder bike in swg falling in love with riding speeder bike. Finishing up sezie craft quest in lotr took multi tries in dd to get those series of quests done |

I don't have any events that I remember but I will list mmorpg events that are important to me. 1. Planetside Launch. 2. Star Wars Galaxies City patch. 3. EVE Online The Great Northern War. I don't really like EVE but there are some things I love about it and ones the market and the other is the ability to shape the world around you and create your own history with such things like this war. It's special to me because this is the only 0.0 PVP I was involved in with Rona and I just remember it being an epic time because it was the first major war in the game for Venal. 4. Everquest 2 beta. I remember having alot of fun in the beta because I thought they would change the character models and add in lots of features like PVP before launch but instead they rushed it to ge ahead of WoW and that was a mistake. However I loved how much grouping was needed and I loved how busy it was on the test server where I was constantly getting groups and I remember sitting out in the middle of CL with my group on cool down times just doing quests. Such fun and just a shame they made more than one server because thats why you never find groups anymore and EQ2 is designed so it can clone zones if it gets full. 5. World of Warcraft launch. |

1. Not really a mmo, but i remember playing Elite on my old Commodore 64 and realising i was free to do what i wanted in a universe with billions of starsystems... a full universe to explore, trade in, fight in, evolve in, etc. I played it for so many years and never got bored of it. 2. Since then i have been looking for a similar game and only found one. EVE Online. So i played that for many years as well until only capital ships was viable in end-game fleet warfare alliance vs alliance. When everyone was flying the same thing and using it the same way with the same fits... it got boring. You were not really free in EVE because there were no place to go to be left alone doing your own thing with a small group of friends anymore. "The Blob" ruled it all. So i quit. 3. Played Lotro and realised that the spider grind to get to the next lever was only to be able to grind spider in the next region so i could level and go to the next, etc... And the "end-game" stuff was grinding for better gear... lol... quit that after a few months and two chars at lvl 60. Completely pointless grind just to become exatly like everyone else. If only stupidity could hurt... 4. Realising that there are no more games like Elite and early EVE. No freedom. No IQ required. No thrills. No risks. No "real" rewards. Nothing. And if a dev tried it just turned out to be a massive gankfest for mouthbreathers with immensly low IQ levels. (Darkfall aka Griefall) 5. Realising that years are passing and i could have made a few million bucks if i was a game dev and instead working with VIP security...
Please... give us Elite Online. Freedom. Exploration. Something to build with friends. Something that lets us use our brains again. Enough of the grinding, griefing and themeparks already! |

The first few weeks of WoW at launch ... in darksore the chat was alive with sightings of horde.. then getting into ashenvale and randomly joining a 40man raid fighting hord between barrens and ashenvale for hours. Was simply fantastic. |
