Now we've got speculation coming from EVERYWHERE, and not a single word from CME. I really hope this game comes out in a playable condition, but come on. If something were really going on at CME at this point, they would HAVE to have said something by now. To me, it's pretty clear their offices are empty for the moment. People pulled from the community and given fancy labels on the forums just doesn't cut it. We've got Frankie Munez saying he's the "Brand Ambassador" for CME and SGW, and that it's coming out this summer. RIIIIIGHT. You would think that pulling a well known person in like this would have been plastered all over the official site and newsworthy. There is no way this game comes out this summer. It is APRIL, and we haven't even started 2nd phase of closed beta. Just more of a sign to me that no one is at CME, the fact that we heard about this from Frankie first. Has anyone noticed that he's also the logo for MMOGULs?
www.mmoguls.com/ <------ go to the bottom of the page, on the right, that is DEFINITELY him in the logo.
Then there's this one. www.gateworld.net/news/2009/04/wright-talks-stargate-worlds-delay/
When Brad Wright, co-creator of the the SG television franchise, starts adding to the dark cloud of doubt, it definitely might be time to pack it in!
I'm not here to crap all over this thing, if you look among the other posts, I'm looking forward to this game a LOT. It's just not looking too good to me, and the whole blind faith in hope thing just doesn't do it for me. I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath. |

Sigh. I was so excited when I first heard about this game. Followed the game progress on their forums and dev interaction steadily decreased until finally it stopped completely. Now all of these controversies, the MMOGULS scam, the lawsuits. I feel bad for the dev team that got caught up in all of this. Honestly I wish that they would just have the license taken away from them. Give it to Cryptic Studios or some other game studio that will do the Stargate universe justice without all the bs and scamming customers going on. |

I agree with everything you just said. Even IF this game releases, under the current circumstances it looks like we'd be dealing with MMOGUL-based pyramid guilds/clans. Not to mention GMs who's employers have vested interests in the pyramid schemes, which would mean that the effort to squash out the MMOGUL/pyramid scheme in-game spam would be non-existent, or close enough to it. It's sad, but not every game succeeds. I still hope that this one beats the odds, but it looks beaten to me at this point. I don't blame the folks on the main forums for being the way they are, they are just guarding their community from this rot. But refusing to acknowledging these things as potential problems is what lets them go on being issues. I feel REALLY bad for the developers who poured their blood, soul, sweat and tears into this, only to have the rug pulled out from under them by this crap. I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath. |

Originally posted by nolf SOEs' reputation nonwithtanding, I think they have too much on their plate now to even think about devoting to another mmo fulltime ( not that tey devote fulltime to any of their games lol ). I wouldn't mind if MGM just found a talented indy dev team at this point. Couldn't be worse than these guys. |

Perhaps it's time for Frankie to start getting some "fan" mail advising him of what he's potentially involved with. |

And yet stargate Worlds has been the centerpiece used to get people involved with mmoguls. Wonder if people investing in the crap have looked at that disclaimer and wondered "what the fuck did i just do?"? |

It drove me nuts for a while.....until the racing sponsorship happened and the light bulb went *CLICK*
Which is exactly what they SHOULD have been asking themselves when they were deciding to invest. No pity for those folk =P lol Pyramid schemes ftL. Haha, wow they're actually using Frankie Muniz as the logo for MMOGULS?! I hadn't seen that before. I definitely agree that someone needs to help Frankie realize whats actually going on with this whole pyramid scheme and how Gary Whiting is basically stealing money from investors, for a product that may never get released.
For all of the investors in this little pyramid scam, I agree, no pity. They should have done some research first. I mean seriously, did people actually pay for this crap? Like I said originally, I feel sorry for the devs that put all that effort into the game just to have this happen, but now MGM needs to step in and take back the license before it is tarnished anymore.
Last but not least, for the peope that keep claiming, oh give them time they're still working on it! Well news flash, the first round of beta was over almost 5 months ago and they weren't anywhere near a finished product at that time. |

I think there is a lot of "plausible deniability" being built up. If you haven't seen my large post in the rumor room forum, it somewhat pulls together what is being said "officially" and what I see the MMOGULS affiliates posting, which has SGW plastered all over it. (It's also good for a laugh if you haven't seen the numbers they are throwing around.) Oh, in that other post there is a link to an agreement that seems to be what you need to sign in order to become a affliate. In it, there is a statement: Trademarks/Service Marks. IMAs shall not advertise MMOGULS™’, or business, or any business affiliated in any way with MMOGULS™ (i.e., MGM, Stargate, Stargate Worlds, Cheyenne Mountain Games, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, and FireSky),... Kinda contradicts the website disclaimer... |

So wait, is MGM actually affiliated with mmoguls, or is that Whiting just blowing more smoke? If MGM is actually affiliated ( and I mean directly, not as a byproduct of Cheyenne Mountain ), then I would really worry. Because that would mean nothing can stand in the way of this, outside of the courts. |

Because that would mean nothing can stand in the way of this, outside of the courts. I have no idea. But I would take that "affiliated" being "loose". For one, it says "affiliated in any way"--I would take that as meaning that since MMOGULS is planning on using SGW for its memberships, MGM is therefore affiliated.

They are shit broke and the CEO has resorted to setting up a pyramid scheme to pay off his debts to workers, investors, other companies and the tax man. Now Brad Wright has said that SGW has hit skid row and in all probability won't be released, by CME atleast. But forget that all it boils down to is this, do I take the word of, A: Brad Wright, executive producer and co-writer for all things Stargate and consultant on all things Stargate to CME. A respected individual by many. or, B: Gary Whiting, known scammer, liar and con artist who has helped run ponzi schemes in the past and is now involved in a pyramid/ponzi scheme based around SGW. Unless you're aFanOri it's really a no brainer!

Wish I could disagree with you, but I can't. They can release all the statements they want, but until this game shows substantial progress, I will believe it is dead. While I don't think the game was originally vaporware to draw people into the MMOGULs, I wouldn't doubt that they would be delaying the annoucement of the cancellation for it. Until I'm shown otherwise, that's how I see this thing. I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release.
