LOL I was looking foward to darkfall, But aparently their new name is FailFall Online. As for today I Am currently waiting to try Aion, or Crimecraft, or Global Agenda whichever comes first ^^. But seriously im not paying any money for a mmorpg that has had its members lie to the public a lot , allows cheaters in it, and ect. if the owers of darkfall want me, and myself to inform my real life friends darkfall is avalable to play they better give us a good explaination of why they developed such a cheap website, then why their system was delayed, and real explaination. I do not want to hear, WE Did not have the founds to buy a server, we are sorry, as that is the worst BS I have ever heard. |

I never really followed Darkfall and I'll spare you as to why. Yet being currently bored out of my skull I had thought about trying it. As many here have the said the issue is you cannot buy it. By the time people can buy it in volume games they were actually waiting for will be on the market. You might "try" something and like it.. even stick around. But in this situation they are going to have missed the boat. That of course is ignoring any arguements about the state of the game etc... The biggest "fail" any game can have.. is not being able to be purchased by potential customers. Especially in the MMO market where so many games are competing for the same market. |

5,000-10,000 compared to hundreds of thousands... soooooo, the assumption was that 1%-2% of forum goers/beta testers (if that much) would want to at least buy a copy and try it out?
that is what you're defending? the rest of your post is just random (bad) trolling. could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

You forgot to ask where it has been said they're ever going to add more servers, when this is supposed to be a one server game? |

Yes interesting point that always seems to get passed over. They can't open a US server due to copyright matters so it should be interesting to see how this plays out. Just simple math says they can't stay afloat with only one server with 10K or so players....will be interestintg to watch. |

I'm not trying to be a fanboi but I dont see how he was trolling in his reply. He's referrng to the multitude of posts we get on DFO foums to open the store. Demand is extremely high still. I see DFO accounts for sale for half 1k already. Due to the restricted access AV unintentionally inflated the value of DFO accounts. I guess its to be expected when demand far outstrips supply |

Heh...speaking of cuts
If the going rate on Ebay is 500ish per account, and someone had say I dont know...like 5k accounts to sell, it stands to reason they would make a killing, and never have to report it. Conspiracy Theory: Tasos inflated the market on purpose. He is currently dumping accounts on Ebay, knowing full well that he doesnt intend to keep the game going as it has garnered him too much debt. This way he can still pocket a few million after they close, while showing on his taxes he lost everything with game. Things that make ya go hmmmmm
Oh OK...it was a lame attempt to explain what is going on. Heck considering some of the posts on the DF forums, does it really matter :P I dont know the real reason for why AV has acted this way, during the launch phase of DF, but I doubt anything good is going to come of it. I saw the thread on the DF site about changing the front page the other day. Pretty sad when they still wont do anything about it. Even when their customers are begging them. I am in the boat of "just watching" the forums recently. I have no intentions to razz the game, and its players but I tell ya: AV is doing everything possible to insure that not only them and their game...but their customers as well have a great big "KICK ME" sign painted on them. Witness the first part of my post. There is no way they can be this ignorant as to the damage their image is taking. Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget. |

You would be surprised. There is no successful business plan that involves such a bad launch of a product. My theory is that AV was running extremely low on funds (which I don't see possible considering they got that 20 million dollar loan like last year). So, in order to make some money to continue the business, they had no choice but to release the game. There were a couple problems that occured here. One, before AV released Darkfall, they wanted to make sure the servers would be able to handle the advertised load. This is called a stress test. The thing is, AV doesn't know how to use this properly. In order to test a server that can hold 10k, you'll need at least 6k for a general load stress test, then maybe 500 players in one area to test the single server running that serverzone. To my knowledge, AV didn't do either of those things, and replaced the main portion of the activity that was supposed to be players, with NPCs. Two, this lead to AV not being able to know whether or not they can handle the amount of players that want in. So when launch came, and people wanted to give AV their money, which AV wanted badly, they were not able to because AV had nothing in return (sold out of server space). And there you have it, a company with a game everyone wants(ed), 200k people interested in buying, and only 10k to go around. I don't know how AV expects to pay for the servers they desperately need to release, because a lot of bad things are happening, like people leaving, cheating, exploiting, macroeing, and forumfalling. I hope for the best regarding Aventurine and the game, but I don't see myself buying the game I was looking foward to for years now. It is a damn shame that this company is lost. Current: DDO |

Well.... That's the tricky part and this is the dagger AV has dealt to their fans.... By denying access to the game to the masses at large, you avoid Metacritic giving you a bad overall score. Metascores really hurt games like Ryzom, Age of Conan, etc. Many folks, like myself, just look at a metascore for a title However, potentially people may be screwed by coming in so late into the game. Some DF players report they have reached max skill already. It might be situation similar to EVE Online whereas new guilds find it tough to establish a foothold in the game But since terriority appears to lack Soveriegnty rules perhaps it may not be so bad. Ryzom suffers this issue. A lot of new players feel that the vets can do anything they can do but 10x better and have 100x more skills
This is sort of a flaw I see sandbox games keep having. Their skill caps are so high, newbies find it tough to get caught up Also, if reports of hackers being rampant is to be believed then another backfire is that vets will be super maxxed. But before going live, if AV fixes the hack issues ironically this will mess with new players. Cause the vets used unfair advantages to reach max
I'm in my 'newly wed' stage right now. most of us are. Most issues wont become apparent til months down the road and major changes will be hugely unwelcome at that point.
What would be fair to new players when they go 'live sales' is to reset the server. But this will ofc majorly piss off the rest of the populace. It depends on how they continue to deal with macro'ing and hacks |

They needed money. Which is kinda Ironic, cause it looks like they're going to lose a lot of it if nothing happens soon. |

It's illegal to trade characters on ebay. I suggest you look around more I see pvp chars going for $450 at least. $100 minimum. I'm not gonna post links I dont condone that sort of activity. I bought my account the hard way. I went through the broken billing system and all next time you call someone a 'liar' I suggest research 1st |

Hey.. I did research.. before you start spouting off BS about your golden child, I suggest YOU do a little research and provide evidence for your fictious claims. The fact remains.. Yes, people are reselling accounts.. But not for 500 bucks.. Sorry dude.. creating artificial demand for a game (as done by AV) doesn't warrent 500 bucks.. at least not for Darkfall... From the looks and what I've heard from guildies, this game is in worse shape then most games that run 30 bucks new. Oh.. and another thing.. It's not "illegal" to sell an account on eBay.. Each game company can dictate what is sold on Ebay according to their ToS. Ignorance is still an obvious characteristic in Darkfall Fanboys.. Currently playing Real Life.. http://i36.tinypic.com/2uyod3k.gif For all your stalking needs.. |

What 'guildies'? Dude you play frakking Tabula Rasa. Remember how you used to swear it was the best thing ever? How their lack of PVP was a great thing? Also its against forum rules to post links and I wouldn't do that anyway Not a big deal if you don't believe me. You are just making yourself look bad. Just a quick google verifies my claim. welcome to /ignore Tabula Rasa fanboi |
