Ok, let me clear some things up. Yes, you have DX10, however, DX doesn't just go DX 8, DX 9, DX 10, there are updates in between. To run AoC you need the latest of each. If you go to the site it gave you www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/resultsForCategory.aspx and click the Direct X March 2009 update you will get the file you need.

What's lamesauce about the game telling you that you don't have up to date files to run the game?

it's lamesauce cause I spent all that time downloading it...was just excited to play and by the time it was finished I was very limited on time and had to leave..but now im almost done patching so it's okay

(or if you would follow patcher instructions, upgrading DX takes less than a min)

what a joke, i mean i couldnt care less about aoc, but the fact that you come here and call epic fail when the game is right. You need the newest version of DX9 to play as well as DX10 as someone else said...  /clap

It's fail because the trial client is freaking huge. Need internet 2 for this download. They should make trial client smaller or get better bandwidth. i looked at the size and said Fak This!

DX 10 looks like crap for me, in Windows 7 and a 4850. There are just weird shadows everywhere and the frame rates suck. But under water looks cool.

Some people miss the HUGE words on a trial notice and then blame the game, not their lack of brainpower.

MULTIPLE GAMES require you use dx9 files for dx10 games, and these games also require you UPDATE them fully, usually by clicking the supplied DX version that comes with the game disc or download.

Vista has been launched 2 years ago and Microsoft released a big DirectX runtime update in November last year and again in March this year!

You can choose to dowload the smaller version that only have first 20 levels in it.... read on the dowloadsite and you will find...

And that would be why they have the smaller version with Tortage only so people can test it out without having to download the entire game ;)
