The jedi in the universe of star wars is the most feard, most respected and still the most missunderstood. They are mystical anomolys of life that have some kind of bind with the universe in which they can effect the surroundings they inhabit or even the minds of others they meet. They are well disciplined and selfless and doing things without concern for themselfs and only to help others. They protect what is right and their services are to those that are in need. To me the jedi are more than just someone with a laser bat swinging it wildly and chopping things down. When i play a jedi character i am always light side and good natured. Its almost like im role playing. Protecting and helping those that need it and giving my services to whom requires them. To become a Jedi takes the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. Adventure, excitement. A jedi craves not these things. Ten people who speak make more noise than ten thousand who are silent. |

I heard that to become a Jedi, you must give Yoda a peach scented sponge bath? |

sith killed the younglings not a jedi. He gave into the darkside then went on a massacre. also he was brought up as a jedi at an older age unable to properly control his emotions and acess situations properly. Ten people who speak make more noise than ten thousand who are silent. |

Pretty much why I am looking forward to NOT playing a jedi, hehe. I hope to collect quite some bounties on them, though. And mock their self righteousness and spiritual ways in the process. Ruthless opportunism ftw! |

“Tell me what you regard as your greatest strength, so I will know how best to undermine you; tell me of your greatest fear, so I will know which I must force you to face; tell me what you cherish most, so I will know what to take from you; and tell me what you crave, so that I might deny you…” The sith will always prevail over the pety Jedi, compassion will always fade compared to greed, control will always end in chaos it is but a matter of time. Jedi are weak, sith is stronger. Tainted and wicked the Sith rules the weak unlike Jedi who rules with them.. or below them.
agreed. But then again, it will all depend on what the game really looks like and who will really play it, I will but.. not as a Jedi character. Jedi are like the hippies of the sci fi community. They want peace and prosperity when most gamers want the exact opposit, destrucion and mayhem.. A player such as I

Actually you gota look at the time line, the ideals of the jedi order as most of us know them are fairly new in the grand scheme of things at this point. The age restriction thing really hasn't been in affect to long, and with all new rules it is a bet bendy in places. As for the rest jedi are not that feared at this time in the universe as you would think, the mandalorians have killed thousands of them just a few centuries before. The sith troopers who are just men have killed them wholesale as well. So feared not so much, respected yes, but also like any order who has seen most of their numbers decline, the jedi of this era have just finished rebuilding a nearly exstinct order. Much like when luke reforms the jedi and accepts any with the gift and drive this is a time of rebuilding. With a war on, and the last sith war nearly haveing destroyes the order they are not going to be following the old rules when it comes to making people jedi. This is also the time of many different force using schools that are offshoots of jedi and sith, the force is a prevalant thing in the universe and many are sensative to it if not actually trained sith or jedi. Among the things of this time you have Jedi enclaves, academies, and covenants scattered and decentralized while the temple on coruscant was the head until they left to return to their homeworld from there. This kinda recentralizes the jedi. You have the Jal Shey which is mostly gone, the Keetael, the Krath, Luka Sene, and Order of Shasa. Most of these are probably on the decline or lost by the time ToR is starting but the point is valid. The jedi are not what they were or will yet be again, they are between ways, as is the sith. To say only a man of the highest morals and calling become jedi at this time period might not entirly be true, it may simply be a man or woman that feels the force and seeks to understand it that comes to the order. Thrown unwillingly into the roles they find themselves in, time is always an important factor for how things are in any universe. |

Personally I'm guessing most of the noobs will be playing either Jedi and even Sith, Jedi more since noobs tend to be scared of bad and scary looking ppl. (funny enough the same reason why a lot of noobs decided originally back in vanilla WoW days to play alliance instead of horde in WoW, they thought horde was ugly and scary looking...rofl...0o). And most of the good players will choose to play every other class, well that is unless Bioware f**ks up and makes Jedi/Sith insanely OP, kinda like what SOE did with SWG....XP

This is no SWG 2.0 let alone any predecessor to SWG. ToR will either give something fresh and new or it will just be another generic knock off. Religion is kinda the basis to Star Wars itself but look at it in this light. Look at how the old movies are compared to the new ones. It was about an entire universe. From the lowly soldier, to the sneaking smuggler, up to the powerful force user. Everyone had there part. Captivating some of the older vets. into doing such things in SWG even. But the problem is, what happens when you take out the bottom supports and your left with nothing but hero's. What will you be a hero of. A million Jedi, Bounty Hunters, and Sith a universe does not make. It's like sticking Christians, Muslims, and Jewish people all in just the world alone and no one else. Wheres the color and shades. Sure old republic has more Force Users. Doesn't mean theres any less of the other regular people so to speak or even people who start with nothing and achieve so much more. Just have to wait and see if it turns into a generic garbage or something that will trully stand above the crowd.

I don't know, I personally believe the best thing you can do when choosing an MMO is decide based on the companies track record. You want a prime example look at Blizzard, WoW wasn't their 1st major success was it now? Blizzard knows how to make good games, hell I bet if anyone can really pull off a smash hit sandbox MMO it can be them too. They're just as good as making games for casual (dumb) players as they are for hardcore players (cough starcraft cough cough)...0o Now let's look at some failures, AoC, if anyone remembered Anarchy Online they would know AoC had a good chance of become a difficult incomplete game. WAR comes to mind too, now even though Mythic isn't really a bad company known for making bad games. EA is! And well that's all I can say about that. Now let's look at Bioware, these guys know how to make good games, and I can honestly say that if there is any company with a good track record that has a good chance of making a good MMO either than Blizzard right now it's these guys. This is a fact that even Blizzard has openly acknowledged...=) But then again...nothing is absolute...=( |

Records? Play the original fallouts or even the original elders scrolls games or even baldur's gates/icewind dale series. Still own Planescape torment. Bioware did neither Fallout series or Elders Scrolls series any justice. New generation of gamers always cycle in, and we all have are preference. Games such as WoW are ok, gave it a shot nothing to super. Playing LoTR Online atm and no complaints here. Why I choose it over WoW just cause I enjoy it more. I generally test games out and see if there even worth it before actually forking over any cash and putting time and effort in. I enjoyed WoW though more so back when it was still without expansions. L2 wasn't to bad. WAR was just a headach with just even getting a trial setup. FoM wasn't to bad but honestly games just turned into wannabe /b/ tards. There old forums were a class A example of that and now there back to brown nosing the original creator. RO was ok but nothing to great. Guild Wars was ok to kill time but can't say it was anything to bring home to mother. Think you see where I'm going. Some want what older games gave. Content, lots of hours of main and side questins, greatly implemented story line and so forth. But mmos are the twist. How do you implement such things into a genre with more then one person. You can't be the center of attention in an mmo honestly. Exampe, if someone persay was selling you a computer didn't matter which brand or whatever. Said had so and so parts in it and you just bought it. Bring it home and find the tower has nothing in it what so ever. Wouldn't you feel a little hurr durr durr for it? But hey whatever works for people.
