I pay to play Age Of Conan.. I think its really good fun and diffrent. I pay to play Warhammer, it's diffrent again and I do enjoy it... but bit bland after doing RvR for the 50th time.
This is not a post to slate games, just a post to ask.. What are we doing?? I tried Runescape other day for a laugh... I read about it and thought I;d try it adn laugh at its lego like graphics and how silly it is! Even now when I play I sometimes feel I'm the oldest player in it (25yrs old) as I constantly see conversation along the lines of.... "What year are you in?" "I'm year 8 at schoo," Etc maybe it's my mentalaltie.. Let me share a bit of background about me, I'm 25 Years old within the UK. I'm getting married in May and I work within the engineering industry as a Manager for a big department. I enjoy all sort of games, but a must have on the go is a MMO... I must always be playing at least one! I love Boxing and Basketball. I got my wife to be into MMO's and she plays Warhammer and AoC, though she prefers War! Now... What I don't understand is.. why do I spend and find it more fun and addictive to play a Free to play games that looks like dog shit with cat shit thrown at it with very basic mechanics? When I pay to play multi-million developed games...... I suppose it's beacuse RS reminds me of my first MMO, UO! Skill based leveling and so much to do! I find it so addictive in RS to go Rune Crafting, Chopping trees and getting my levels up! I can't find anything like it in any MMO of recent?!?!? It feels like a real sand box MMO! My question is.. Are there any Pay to play games out there with as much freedom and game mechanics out there? I know there is UO... But it's ruined...... Must be something with the Runescape style of play with more quality! I think most MMO these days are a big let down to the industry....
Or maybe I'm having a mid life MMO crisis! ;)
You thoughts! Anyone here play RS? Enjoy it more than big dollar games? ARe you voer 18? |

Glance towards WurmOnline. While combat is pretty lacking you do have an insane amount of crafting options starting at building towns/houses anywhere(yes even on top of that mountain) with no sort of claim limit or similar(there are deeds which offer guards, but they're technically optional), then there's terraforming(raise/lower the land, mines that you actually tunnel people on occasion make roads through mountains ect, and a very dynamic tree simulation).
Basically most games are strictly combat with sidelined crafting. _______ There are plenty of flaws with the game, starting with it originally being made by two people(Micro-Indy). It won't offer you everything under the sun but it has plenty of grab and is one of the insanely few games like it. Basically EvE players will brag about all the control they have over the world, and this little game gives every single player that control instead of just corp leaders and their soldiers. Hey it has an unlimited free trial on the starter server and the download is very very small. There's nothing to really lose except time if you don't look at the wiki for a little while and not be obsessive about graphics(they're amazing just not in the same way as other games). |
