This seems to be a pretty heated topic on these forums, so I thought I'd see where the majority stands. And to certain fanbois out there who shall remain nameless, try to remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so let's try to keep it civil.

The announcement that there wouldn't be interiors was one of the big things that cemented my interest in STO. It showed me that the developers had their thinking caps on, and the game was well on it's way to being a success. It ndicated that the game would be more populated with people that wanted to actually play instead of walking around inside their ships being useless.
It showed they knew what they really needed to concentrate on as opposed to wasting their time including something that only a few would appriciate, and even at that, most of those would only appreciate them for maybe the first month, then completely ignore them.
Note how fishy it is that suddenly and mysteriously there's all this activity to vote in this poll soon after it goes up. |

What do you mean with no interiors??? Isnt this suppose to be a sci-fi space MMO same as SWG, and you cant be inside the ships?? How will they pull that of? Sounds weird to me. |

When i wrote my post, i did the mistake and assume that we talked about Star Treck. I know EVE. But in Star Treck much of the story take place inside ships. And that they want to remove. If that does not sound weird, i dont know what does. |

Exactly, but Cryptic doesn't get that. They're making Star "EvE" Trek. Just substitute gate camps with new types of Trek fleet furballs. |

Yes, I definately will not play it. Its 2009........... If you make a STAR TREK game............. MAKE IT WITH SHIP INTERIORS....... To me, all signs point that they are cutting corners and rushing the game by not adding ship interiors. SWG had nice ship interiors that you could decorate. How old is that game??????? 5 years?????

No interiors? Sounds like they are missing the point of a lot of what made Star Trek so appealing, that of the "in-ship" action/politics/plots. Maybe it was simply too large to be able to get that kind of scope & potential into a "mere game". |

I would like to see ship interiors in both games... At least STO will give you an avatar that can walk around at all. There WILL be parts of the game that take place in ship interios.... You just don't get to stroll around inside your own ship. Admittedly lame, but not something that would keep me from trying the game out. I think it speaks volumes about the type of game they are making. It's going to be an action MMO, and probably won't have the kind of depth it would take to keep me interested for too long. Unfortunately, I think the same thing will be true for the Star Wars MMO. Who knows, maybe Eve will have ambulation and ship interiors before either of those games patch in enough content to be worthwhile. The the only things Eve will have going against it are the lack of compelling PvP and the stupid 30 minute alt-tab warp travel system. |

No, because I could care less about visiting a place if there's no reason to. Since many of the missions in game will take place on ships and starbases, I could care less about visiting them AGAIN.And for the trolls out there who shall remain nameless, remember that "everyone has a right to their opinion" goes both ways. MMOs played:SWG,NGE,Warhammer, World of Warcraft, Star Trek Online,Eve, Star Wars the Old Republic. |

I agree, if it were as simple as not having ship interiors it wouldn't have bothered me but theres lots of gameplay options that cannot be realized if you cannot even walk inside your ship and as you said it says alot of the type of game they are making. As for the new Star Wars MMO I didn't expect anything from that but I thought star trek may indeed offer some more depth. It just seems like it'll be dumbed down eve with some quest on planets. |

Except players will be walking around ships in episodes where doing so is relevant to the story being told. Please go and learn something about the game. Thanks. |

And if your prediction turns out to be mostly accurate it will be a very big opportunity that has been missed. |

Well thats of no relevance. The point is the gameplay options that cannot be realized, I actually said "if it were as simple as not having ship interiors it wouldn't have bothered me". I don't see how being able to walk around your ship in what sounds like a completely linear quest aspect changes anything. |

I agree that it's one of the possibilities... But I can image Eve with avatars and ground missions, and it sounds pretty good to me. Ship interiors or not. Even a dumbed down PvE heavy version of Eve would be a pretty decent game with those additions. We'll just have to wait and see. I'll approach it with cautious optimism until then. Every Star Trek game I ever bought was terrible. But thousands of hours watching the show sine I was kid keep me coming back for more. Hopefully this will finally be a GOOD Star Trek game. |

Yes, it's truly sad that Cryptic can't measure up the greatness that is SWG. /sarcasm off MMOs played:SWG,NGE,Warhammer, World of Warcraft, Star Trek Online,Eve, Star Wars the Old Republic. |

how long did it take for ship interiors to come out in SWG? i think it would be only fair to give these guys the same amount of time to implement that system if they even plan to. i will play this game regardless. being able to walk around your ship is cool and all. I very rarely did it in swg and found it a pain in the ass sometimes and quite boring. |
