What is wrong with me...
I've known about Runescape for years, I even tried it years ago and laughed at it.. though I only gave it about 10 mins worth.
Ive played nealrly every MMo since UO excluding EVE, I currently signed up to AoC and War..... yet I tried Runescape last week for a joke and now I find my self addictved! I'm having more fun in this free game than multi-million developed games! I find it really fun and more to do than any MMo ive played since UO!
Its brilliant, not sure what it is about it but IM loving it... may even cancel AoC and War and pay £3.50 a month to play a better game.
I admit it looks like dog poo with cat poo thrown at it, but graphics beyond are nothing.. beyond the graphics is awesome content adn gameplay.
LOL
I laugh that i actually play this game. Awesomes tuff if u ask me! |

For example if you want to be a bear you put on a bear costume. Your appearance has nothing to do with your abilities, which also gives it a level of unpredictability that the otther games do not offer. Second, the game has many other things to do that other games are currently lacking, it has many different activities that do not require you to do everything else on the game to be able to do those actvities. It isn;t really linear you choose what you want to do when you want to do it, giving you more freedom that you do not find in most games. Though with these positives, The "fun gameplay" is short lived, because they do not reward you for your efforts, honestly after owning everything in the game and doing everything the game has to offer, I can tell you it leaves you disappointed when you get there. The best part of the game is at the lower levels, before it takes millions of xp to get to the next level, and you wind up grinding on the same low level items because the higher level items are too slow, yes there actually comes a point that it can take like 10 min to get a log from a tree. Also, they have had some serious customer service issues over the years, treating their players poorly. They have removed alot of content from the game that make it enjoyable. For example , you used to be able to trade freely with friends. So that you could help your friends in game , give them presents, and give charity to new players to help them get started. They put a cap on trade removing this ability, and actually went as far to ban players for giving gifts. This has left a sour taste in much of the gaming community. Focusing on a self centeredness in the game has resulted in a poor in game community. It used to be a different environment, where people actually helped each other, and it has gone from that to a bunch of kids running around arguing about who is the bigger noob. The strict rules on this game are also a big downer on the fun gameplay, you can get banned for saying " google" for saying any website in public chat, for giving the game constructive criticism, for using a glitch not knowing it was a glitch, and numerous other things that really don;t make a lot of sense. Be sure to read the rules on this game because they are strictly enforced. Wait till you have 20 friends, then you'll see why playing a game with trade limit is NULL and VOID. Or if you have common sense I'm sure you get that by now. Cheers. |

Since the guy has been playing for just a week, let him enjoy discovering rs. It's was always an exciting event back then, but now, I advice you to turn off your ALL your channels when passing through lumby. That place is hell. Of course including the area around it. Full of scum and corrupt moderators like Quartic hanging around abusing folks. When you complain to Jagex for a solution, they abuse you likewise. |

I still can't believe people scoff at rs though. I mean it was listed in PC Magazine's top 10 of the top 100 things out in '06 or '07? ![]() Noble and true, you are the hero other heroes aspire to be. Very funny....2006-2007 were one of the best years in runescape history .Let me say " IT WAS THE PRIME OF RUNESCAPE". It was in 2006-2007 that runescape almost had a constant 250,000 players on all servers. Also, the most of the world wars happend in 2005-2007...it was exciting. Runescape now is worst compared to 2001-2007. With the decrease in color-coded autoers came the increase in kids. Actually the environment of rs now fosters alot more autoers than ever before, except...except they are not color coded and they are constantly evolving and getting better. It's good to respect the blackmarket because they respect you back. |

I just won another argument with a Runescape fanboy both on youtube and the codex. I agree with all you said Bonemane. Jagex just doesn't understand that they are building the game on QUICK SAND. Things will look better things will be more enhanced, but without the free factor, it won't last. There maybe alot of contreversy sorrounding this idea, but I just speak from my experience. If there is one company that needs to learn a "looping" kind of strategy, that's Jagex. |

If I was Jagex I would try to re-create a simulation of the tension that existed in oct-dec 2007, and I would re-examine and make comparisons in preperation of a bot-free trade env. Trade limit is not the way to success. It's the way to slow and devastating destruction via domino effect. |

Its like they’re trying to cut out a cancer from the game only to see it grow larger every time they cut a piece out, resorting to anything to kill it, only to see it grow faster every time they try something. I think the people at jagex know that they lost, but Gowers ego wont let jagex stop trying to cut that cancer out. A doctor killing a patient to cure a cold.

Runescape is on rapid depression too. Check out the big drop just before 2008. http://google.us/trends?q=runescape&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0

As far as I've seen, the bots and autoers of RuneScape have been all but killed. I rarely see any.
But they did really mess it up. I really hate the Grand Exchange. I miss the good ol' days when everyone crowded into a small area and tried to type as fast as they could to get their overpriced goods noticed ^_^ Merchanting was the best, buying up coal and taking it to Varrock to be sold for mass profit... Good times. The death of the wildy didn't bother me much.
Now, they are trying to fix it in other ways. They removed a lot from the chat filter. Seriously though, I've gotten used to the chat filter and even enjoy it. Now, you can't walk from one place to another without seeing someone yelling disturbing things at someone else. I think this might be the nail in the coffin for me ((>_<)) ~Aesoa |

Oh, trust me, there are probably x5 more autoers out there than before 2007. The fact is, they are not color-coded anymore. |
