Well, this game is deffinitely not for everyone, but I am interested and will try to join the crowd there if I can catch the online store open back again. I simply cannot find a skill based game elsewhere with darkfall much of content in it! And I am sure tasos will try to enchance and fix it quite aggressively while I'll enjoy the starter. I got bored of warhammer to death, don't talk about Wow to me, just not my type. |

The fact that you don't agree with them and can't refute them doesn't make them inane. Judging by the general consensus on this and other forums, his responses are in line with the sentiment of many others. Either grow up and play the game and ignore "inane responses" or refute them with some brain cells turned on...assuming they can be refuted in the first place. |

Not the game, it's the company. The way they treated the community during development, the way they're handling things now. It's not an example that should be duplicated by other developers. And you can't separate the game from the company. Running a MMORPG is a continual service. The professionalism (or lack thereof) of the company will continue to affect the game. |

We got you, robertb: you pull those numbers out of your... err, how to say it politely... out of your imagination in which Darkfall is the perfect game with no flaws that everybody wants to play, and you try to present them as facts. A little reality check: http://www.xfire.com/games/darkfall/Darkfall/ Hours played from that subset of users drop every day... Monday is the first billing deadline for the game, the curve is gonna be interesting to watch then. If you wonder why I don't answer your posts, it's most likely because you are on my ignore/block list. I recommend its use to everyone here - it helps you stay sane, avoid trolls, and by not answering to the troll's bait posts, avoid problems. |

XFire is a player community that has always revealed to be significantly representative of the tendency of a MMO... it worked for Conan, for Warhammer, etc... It doesn't reflect the actual number of players or hours played, of course, but the tendency of the game to grow or shrink. And it has yet to be proved wrong on that point. The curve is going down, meaning the overall population of Darkfall is... decreasing. If you wonder why I don't answer your posts, it's most likely because you are on my ignore/block list. I recommend its use to everyone here - it helps you stay sane, avoid trolls, and by not answering to the troll's bait posts, avoid problems. |

How does this site account for such players that may no longer have the need to constantly macro, or that, due to in-game actions of game masters to quickly boot players engaged in sych activities, reduce the actual number of online hours of such players to more realistic levels? Can you explain how this site does this? If it can't, can you explain how a situation such as I detailed in my example would effect the overall trend, especially if the relative sample size could possibly have skewed towards these types of players, initially? Or, does this site discriminate and make allowances for such individuals?
Thank you.

I was sure you would ignore the obvious and try to nitpick, as those numbers can of course not please someone like you. As I told you, the XFire tendency ALWAYS worked in past games to reflect the overall tendency of a game to grow or shrink. And what the numbers are is clearly written on the site, there's no trick, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand them, so I will let you re-read the label of that curve and of the other numbers. Try to unwear those rose glasses for a second, they use to impair the vision and understanding sometimes. I've no idea if a poll has been carried out to see who has XFire installed, would be a cool feature if this website could detect if you have it installed so when ppl throw around Xfire numbers when can see if they really are such a true representation of MMO players who come to these boards. Btw I have never installed Xfire in all my years of playing MMO's and nor do my kids.

Originally posted by qbangy32 Whether or not you and your friends have it installed is irrelevant. It's a bit like saying "Obama shouldn't be president because me, my cat and my two friends didn't vote for him". The tendency of the curve always reflected what happened in game for past MMORPGs. That's the point. The population of XFire users is significant enough to reflect the overall tendancy of the population of a game to grow or shrink. It has ALWAYS been true for all past MMOs. But no worries, in all past games the fans have also tried to ignore those numbers or pretend they were wrong, some even when, like in Conan, their server was dead and you almost never met another player on it anymore...
