I guess we just took them too literally. After all, the 26th started at 12:00 AM, so why would we think they really meant 12:00 PM? What's 12 hours amongst friends? |

Plus, not many people I know visit this site regularly, nor would they see the launcher or go to the website of a game they no longer play. Its a good promo, they should have gotten the word out sooner and more consistantly. I've forwarded the link to a couple people now since we all left the game a long time ago there was no one that knew about it. |

Anyone who has an e-mail account knows there are many reasons this could happen. Anyway, as far as things go, they did what anyone would have expected them to do as far as communication.... All avenues were used, its all over the net. What more could you want?
I mean, you guys are saying you haven't heard a word about it, yet your posting in a thread that just happens to be....about it, with a full article on the front page of a site you go to......... The real issue is.... you guys want in...but can't right now...for whatever reason. The announcement went out of the 24th.

Any MMOG that offers special temporary experience bonuses is a failure. When a developer does that, they are admitting their product lacks enjoyable content until higher levels. Playing a MMOG should be fun and interesting from start to finish. |

lol....It's a promotional thing, and I don't consider that a failure. It's just advertising, like having a sale. I think your lack of knowledge in Advertising is a failure. |

Every MMO does this. Honestly I have yet to play a MMOG while this took place. Didn't happen in Realm 98-99, or EQ 99-03, or first year of EVE online, Horizons, WoW, EQ2, etc and even LoTRO. Maybe this is now a trend after a game starts failing but I usually don't stick with games that are failing. I move on. |

Games not failing, in fact, its in a steady growth right now. This type of thing never happens in a first year...its a "Welcome back" not, "Welcome to" promotion.
Besides, this is not a Bonus XP weekend anyway, the XP stuff is a side effect of the redone XP curve. The reason they are offering it, it to let people see the new content, new XP curve, and revamped starter areas. I do not understand how someone could take issue with any of this...

But that goes back to my original point. Why is it considered a desirable feature to advance faster than normal thru content than the game designers originally intended? Isn't the journey supposed to be fun and interesting? The game experience curve was set up at a certain pace when launched. What changed? Is the game no longer fun at lower levels? Why is that? Doesn't that reveal a design flaw? Does it suggest most players have left LoTRO for a better game? |

Not sure if someone mentioned this, but even if you received no email and your account online says inactive, just patch and try to login. At the login screen, my account was active, even though at the same time my account said inactive on their website. |

Originally posted by RedwoodSap What changed is the game became larger, a lot larger (3 new zones last year, Moria, and now two whole zones this year and more to come). The same amount of XP is still required for 60, its the CURVE that has changed.
It was done to remove WALLS that were in leveling.
The journey is fun and interesting, there is also more of it now. As far as lower levels, they just polished the shit out of the dwarf and elf starting areas, this is in no way shape or form a bad thing. Every game has churn, but your really trying for some tinfoil here, the game population is rising. Because of all the factors, polish, content and just incredible amount of value they have added to the game. Why don't you go check it out?
