companies are already doing it
all of SOEs future mmos will be cross platform w. PC and console, starting this year Ncsoft is planning on at least 3 console mmos Turbine has a console mmo in the works kotaku.com/5015103/interview-turbine-confirms-console-project-talks-future-plans Funcom, havent accomplished it yet, but are working towards that goal for Secret World and maybe AOC
all of this happening while Blizzard has *not* announced any mmo titles for console yet if anything, Blizzard is behind on console intentions |

I read the direct source for link www.incgamers.com/News/15691/BlizzardInTalksWithMicrosoftAboutNextXbox to be specific, Blizzard is in talk w. MS for the console after XBOX360
there are still no plans from Blizzard for the Xbox360 itself
my point still stands most these companies were already planning console mmos before Blizzard even announced their nextgen mmo |

Im a noob concerning pc things. But why is the console can't be compare to a pc since console is design purely for games? Whereas pc have to do so many other things? Example, ps3 seems like a very powerful machine given the cell chip thing, which till now still have not fully tap upon its potential. And if FF can be donw interfacing, whats so hard for other companies?

personally, I think it's better to wait for more mmos to launch on the console before debating that |

I think people are missing something here, they haven't announced their next MMO, just like BioWare hadn't announce SWTOR until that press release saying its SWTOR. Saying we're working on a new MMO and announcing what the new MMO is are two different things. Anyways, speculation is always pointless with Blizzard, the company doesn't leak information and they have a indefinitely long development cycle. I'm more concerned with games coming out in the next five years than whatever may or may not arrive from Blizzard after that. |

Ahhh yes, now that makes sense..... I took it as their 5th game is in development, not them having 5 games that are currently in the development stage. Thanks for clearing that up |

Actually if you go the main Blizzard jobs posting page: www.blizzard.com/us/jobopp/, look on the bottom right for the other job called www.blizzard.com/us/jobopp/programmer-software-engineer-gameplay.html and you will notice the first line states: Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an experienced gameplay engineer to focus on game rules systems for an unannounced title. Why would Blizzard hire one person whose sole job is create a new games rules system, unless it was for a completely new game? I think it will be a new IP and something leftfield and will surprise everybody. If it is Diablo, Starcraft or WoW 2 they just cannibalise the existing player-base. It will be totally unexpected. |

This could simply be one of the games they will be designing for the Wii. |

I have been following blizzard for awhile and I have not heard ONCE them state when the development of starcraft 2 and diablo 3 started. While Blizzard was completely suprised by WoW's success and forced to come up with many resources to support their growing giant that they didn't have, im still surprised where you get the idea about their schedule of developing their IPs.

though if they went with the starcraft route i don't think it would work very well with the standerd WoW (aka general RPG) combat system. an FPS or something simeler to V.A.T.S. from Fallout 3 would probably work out alot better (atleast in my opinion anyways) regardless, will be very interesting to see what it turns out to be :)
who knows. maybe there makeing a lost vikings MMO. |

More fuel to the fire "....Spector then turned to Pardo and joked, “I’d love to see what you guys do with the Wii,” to which the Blizzard exec smiled and raised his eyebrows, but stayed silent." http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=22914

This has got to be a joke right? So its Blizzard's fault that millions of people choose to pay to play their current MMO? Not sure what your smoking but I would like some of that too! As far as Blizz making crappy games SC, Diablo, and the WC IP's are top notch games. No, I don;t sub to WOW anymore because its nothing but a grind fest even with the new expansion at end game, however; I did enjoy the game at one point in the history I played it. If you should be boycotting any big zerg takeover force it should very well be EA! It's a simple world for complicated people- Sonicbrew |

I remember reading somewhere that Blizzard recently renewed their copyright (or something like that) on the "Blackthorne" title (an old platform shooter/beat em up, on SNES & other platforms), so there's room for that making a reappearance in one form or another alongside a multitude of other ideas. WoW on console, iphone. I'm still hoping for some actual new ideas/IP from Blizzard rather than a "new and improved" copy of someone else's ideas. |
