1. I can't find a class that I can connect with.

  1. I am loyal to Order. Order just suits my personality and choice of scenery.
  2. I will only play the human or elven race. Dwarves don't appeal visually to me.
  3. I prefer a class that has survivability and dps. WH's don't have any survivability, but they have dps. WP's are expected to be healbots, plus their dps sucks. KoTBS requires you to "twist" auras to be viable (blah). BW's blow themselves up, and have no survivability. SM's wear a dress. SW"s are gimp, have no bowstrings, no quiver, and their knees don't bend. AM's are expected to heal, but I like their dps. WL's use halberds, and I'm a sword type of guy.

2. Their forums are wacked. I'm registered and everything, and when I try to access the forum, it directs me to sign in. So I sign in, which can be seen by it showing I'm signed in. It even has my portrait and everything. Then I go to the forums, and it doesn't show me as being signed in. It's a viciuos cycle and I'm tired of dealing with it. I know my forum account works, because I've created a thread before.

  1. Without access to the forums, I can't ask the community for help with my class problem.

I know it seems like I'm being picky, but I like what I like and other gaves have pleased me in the past. I loved the majority DAoC's classes, but the Thane in particular stood out to me. I love being able to cast DD spells while also being able to dish out melee dps, and take a beating. I liked the DK and Pally in WoW. I loved being able to dish out melee and spell dps, take a beating, and heal myself. War doesn't have any hybrid classes like that.

Really? Would you like fries with that too?

Seriously, for the sake of balance, the tradeoff for one is always the diminishment of the other. High dps + high survivability = tank mage.

This is what Mythic is now.  Either put up with it or move on.  I personally could no longer tolerate the half-ass work that Mythic produces but I think every subscriber needs to decide what they want and the quality of what they want on their own.

You can play a healer class that is dps specced if you like.  Don't let people force you to play by their expectations.

I found my warrior priest to be fun both healing and dps specced.

Think of balancing this by using sliders. When you move the slider up for dps, the slider for survivability and utility goes down. I don't want the best DPS or the best survivability. I just want to be able to take some hits while I dish it out. Yes, I'd love a tank mage actually. WoW, DAOC, and practically all games have a tank mage. Mythic created DAoC and the Thane, which is my favorite class, was a tank mage, yet it was balanced. Nothing a Thane did was as good as a pure class, but you could cast direct damage spells at a distance until the enemy closes in, and then you could pull out your 2 hander or s/s and finish them off.

I liked the WP, sort of. I didn't like that they used a hammer, because I'm a sword type of guy, but I did like how Paladinish he was. His damage was piss poor though. The first melee ability I got did 15 dmg? and the first spell I got was 10 dmg. Whereas other classes get abilities and spells that do upwards to 100 dmg their first one? What about WP is good dps? Can you rank their dps against other classes and tell me which skill or spell you're referring to. Because if you're right, I'll shut up now and reroll another WP and stick with it, but when I played one, their dps sucked.

Personally i would suggest you quit the game for now, and wait till/ if they implement the class that you like. Playing is for fun, and if you dont find it fun, stop.

They may or may not come up with it though,a nd in the meantime play other games that offer what you want.

War still needs at least 1 more year for them to fill up the content, imo, that they should stop adding new classes but add more beef to the current ones, especially from level 1 to 40....

If you dont fix the core of the game, than even hundreds of new classes will not help...

I really enjoy the game. I love PvPing and being able to do it right after character creation. I just don't like the classes or one aspect of the classes. I'm going to have to analyze each one on different gameplay levels to see which would most suit me I guess. I'm think I'll make the following categories:

Looks

DPS

Survivability

Mechanic

If I just go by looks, I would play either the Witch Hunter, KoTBS, BW, WP, or SW.

By DPS, i'd go with the WH, BW, or SW.

By survivability, I'd go with KoTBS, WP, or SM.

As for the class mechanic, I liked the WH, WP, SW, and could put up with the BW.

When I've found "my" class in each game I've ever played, the class I chose fit all of those criteria. None of the classes in WAR fit all of those criteria, so everytime I create one, I dislike something major about it and get wanderlust. I actually liked the classes and stuff in WoW and DAoC, but I've done everything I want to do in WOW already and DAoC's game mechanics are too old. Maybe I am done with MMORPG's for now, but it's a shame, because I actually liked WAR's gameplay and enjoyed the PvP.

I like the core of the game. All I do upon logging in is RvR in the open RvR lakes. I don't PvE, except for the occasional PQ and I don't care for questing in MMO's, because quests in MMO's are always lame. So I love being able to log in and PvP straight away. So it's not the core of the game, it's not being able to find a class I can connect with. I'd probably actually love the Slayer, but I cannot connect with being short and fat, because short and fat isn't desirable traits to have. I also hate mohawks, lol. So yeah, looking good is half of the class for me. The other half is the mechanics of the class.

You definitely are picky. But I enjoy this game but haven't been able to find that class for me either (although I admit part of that reason is because I'm an alt-o-holic). I wasn't able to hit 60 for a year on WoW - never came close to maxing out in EQ and never did in DAoC till after they made it freakin' easy as heck - so a lot of it is just me not being able to stick to a character.

But I thought DAoC had the best classes in any mmorpg ever. I like EQs classes as well as the uniqueness of CoH/CoV too. There were so many classes to choose from in DAoC and while the classes were similar in each realm - they weren't exactly mirrors so you could roll an a different realm and have a whole new experience. Thane and skald were amazing though - also valkyrie were nice as well as reavers for some of the melee hybrids. Loved theurgists/SM/BD/zerker as well (and even the bow classes - but only in early BGs). DAoC has more class balance issue than any other mmorpg I've played though - and that's what happens with so many. WAR does have issues with class balance - but not near as severely.

:p -  I still remember killing guys on Modred 20 levels above me solo with my pet classes like theurgist/cabalist/enchanter. Vamps were also retarded and dumb to add into the game.

I figured WAR would have some great classes as well (which there are some very cool ones) - but didn't quite meet the expectations I had from DAoC's classes. I'm also not too fond of the special mechanic that every class in WAR seems to have - some work well, but others just ruin the class for me. I can appreciate the WP/DoK, SM/BO, and few others with their special mechanic - but I do not like the Mara/SW/WL ones too much - the BW/sorc one could also use some tweaks.

It has been a while, so things might have changed a lot or a little.  I play on the destruction side now with friends who moved there.

Warrior Priest is more about survivability than dps, but it can do good dps if specced, geared and with the right tactics.  Many of the melee-heals are not "healer" gear stat dependent and do not suffer from many "minus healing" debuffs.  So tactics like divine fury are built for dps warrior priests as well as stacking melee oriented stats from gear (which also increases the melee based healing).

Also cycling between attacks that require action points and attacks the require fury keeps you attacking non stop and healing yourself (or someone else) at the same time.  The dps isn't going to be comparable to pure dps classes, but you can really mess up some classes and very difficult to kill.  The only class that gave me any trouble was witch elves.

I would read up on the warrior priest forums to see how the wrath spec players are doing currently.

You know, if you did a bit of research into Sumerian, Babylonian (edit: AND Egyptian) clothing you might rethink that.

It's like the guy on the LOTRO forums who was complaining because the higher end armor bottoms looked like a skirt. Except when people started posting actual armor that had the same type of skirt like protection on either side of the legs so they could have free movement. Then he was nowhere to be seen.

Do your research. Then go play a swordmaster.

Allowing for a style of clothing that is completely functional (necessarily so!) in nature to define your manhood is beneath all of us, don't you think? ;)

Maybe it's not the game for you? The problem (or strength for me) of WAR is that it's a team game. You're never going to feel complete unless you're teamed up with others who have what your character is weak or missing. There isn't a truly 'complete' solo character in the game as there isn't supposed to be.

I had a tough time choosing a class too. They are not as good as daoc is. I am currently playing a choppa and really like it. Great dps, pretty good survivability. You would probably fine the same with slayer in order, but you don't like dwarves, hehe.

My chosen is actually fun too. I can stay alive a long time and dish out some pretty decent damage, especially since I stay alive so long.  kotbs might be a good choice for you with a 2h. Better dmg than sword/shield but less survivability. You should play it close to 20 to see some returns on it.

The one thing I dislike most about warhammer are the casters. I can't stand them! I love casters almost always, especially in daoc, but here, just bleh.  I've been playing for a month now, and probably stick with it for a couple more at least, but after that, who knows. It doesn't seem it will have the long lasting presence other games have held for me, but a few months+ of fun is well worth it.

^ ^ ^

I have the same problem.  All of my slots are full of alts that I find interesting to play.  Needless to say, none of them are very high level, with the exception of my main, who is lvl 33 SW.

My second highest level character is a WP and I find that he puts out nice dps when he needs to, but with all of the heals available to him, can stay alive for a long time.

If you prefer a sword as a weapon, then SM or KotBS are your classes.  Too bad you don't like dwarves as the IB with a shield is the very essence of survivability.

As someone above has said, maybe WAR isn't for you.  Every game can't please everybody.  In WAR, just as in R/L, there are choices to be made and sometimes those choices involve compromises.

I find dwarves, such as the Slayer, very visually pleasing. Maybe you should try out a dwarf class, or check out some of the chaos side classes. A chosen sounds good for you. Yes you have to twist auras but with today's add-ons that is a press of 1 button. You can heal yourself using your defensive auras or throw out a town of damage and take hits with others. I think this game has looked into balance of classes a lot more than DAOC. That is why you don't have some of the bullshit "random" super powerful classes that DAOC had.

When nate1980 is getting extremely frustrated with WAR, that's not a good sign for sure. I see that Warhammer is now advertising heavily on Wowhead.com and Wowwiki and other WoW related sites.

It seems they want more Wow folks to come and try it. The ad was the same one you see here on the homepage, but said something like "Ready for a real PvP experience?" or something.

This is potentially good news that there may be an influx of WoW players soon if this targeting marketing for who they would like to join works out.

WHen I played a WP i had no trouble going damage and healing, as a matter of fact I did more healing than the other healers, and still was tope 5 most damage on my team.  The trick to playing a WP is to follow at least 2 tank class when you wanna zerg, just make sure you dont die in less than 5 seconds and you'll be on the top.
