Yeah, sounds like typical FC. Put up a buggy test ver of DX10, just for the hype, act like they've actually done something a paying customer should expect. A couple of things to note here. DX10 is optional. No one is affected if they do not want to be affected. Second, you guys realize just like we do that scrips are not high enough to run a true Test server, thus putting out DX10 for those wanting to try it on live without loading another 25+ gigs is a smart move. The results will improve for Funcom, and they will get better data from doing this. I understand you guys have been hurt by Funcom in a truly serious manner, but this changes nothing. The game still goes on, DX10 is still coming, and Funcom is making the effort to get a good game going that a lot of us enjoy. I hope you will eventually find a game you can enjoy just as much. |

They really need to stop talking about Dx10 completely. The game is fun, but they are making themselves look like idiots every time they bring it up. So let's have a recap of this latest news " They almost partially implemented some parts of their test version of dx10 on a live server for debugging, but couldn't manage to do it.. this is a feature that was supposed to launch almost a year ago". Seriously, they should never mention dx10 again. |

While I do agree with you that Dx10 is nothing but some fancy graphic update, it is still very much important for them to make it work. Keep in mind during launch Dx10 was one of the things the former GD did speak highly about, how awesome it would be and all that kind of crap. Funcom could have scrapped Dx10, but dx10 is actually one of the reasons people left the game. Dx10 has become since launch somewhat of a prestige issue for FC. In one way they have to do it even tho it would be better to scrap it and focus on Dx10 for the upcoming game TSW instead. |

Doesn't TSW use the same engine as AOC? Then it does make sense that they are testing it on AOC and would want all the AOC players giving feedback. My computer is on the low side, I probably won't be using it at all. |

It does yes, so testing dx10 on AoC is a good thing for FC for TSW. |

The TEST version of an UNOPTIMIZED DX 10 client did not hit the live servers the day it was promised, just 10 months after it was stated that on the box that the OPTIMIZED version would be in AoC? I'm shocked and amazed, there was no way anyone could have seen this one coming, could they? Funcom even got the server mergers right on the second deadline. EDIT: wonder why they locked the other post about this failure, when this post is no longer current.

Again, as someone else stated, Funcom is getting their act together thanks to Craig and not releasing code that could cause further problems. I do not care if it takes 10 months or 10 years, So, today even though the DX10 client was NOT released, it still is a triumph that they did not release buggy code. I will take that anyday. Cheers |

It seems the patch will hit the live servers tomorrow (25th)
The EU servers will come down for an Update (1.04.5) on Wednesday, 25th March at 06:00 GMT. The downtime is scheduled to last around 6 hours. Funcom Oliver 'Tarib' Kunz

Openedge, it is a countdown, the implementation will happen for a fact, whether a staggered effect to get the best iteration fast or otherwise.

Sent in my bug report after crashing to desk top. It looked blurry to me , like in VG. THe god rays where streaming through wall faces as well as my perfomance was cut in half. It should be put back on test for the most part and Testers really need to get there head out of there ass and start providing Funcom with some real feed back. Dx 9 on my machine looks better for this gme then dx10. :| |

Now, it is on live, and we can see the real forums are already alive (I also turned in several bug reports), thus an "optional" feature is available and getting heavily tested. In the end DX10 will be rocking thanks to the commitment of the real players. Fun times ahead Cheer |
