wow, thats a pretty wide question. Would be great if you specified your concerns a bit more. I made a review some time back that probably should be of interest to you. www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/227890/A-detailed-AoC-review-Raid-and-Siegeing-a-must-for-true-reviews.html To sum it up, performance issues are all gone. Bugs are pretty much under control. Content has also been pumped up pretty nicely. Also multiple gameplay altering changes have been made, such as faster combos and new PvP systems. Other stuff still pending is Dx10 and the itemization revamp. |

Age of Conan is doing good. I resubbed about a month ago and I play on and off. I made some new alts and play when I feel like it. I actually found a new class I like to play besides Barbarian which is the Guardian. Bashing people with my shield is hella fun :D The only annoyance I have experienced now is that some of my new alts have had problems with their Night quests and can't finish them. If you run into this situation, just /petition a GM and they will fix it. So far, they are pretty quick to respond and fixed my quests.

The game has pros and cons. It's stable and now with mergers has a few servers to choose from with solid populations. To a new player there is a lot of content. The graphics are still great and the music is great too. The bad? As an MMO experience, it is very average. If you are interested in crafting or guild building look elsewhere. The PvP system has very mixed reviews (you might hate it or love it). Itemization has still not been fixed so if you are looking to advance your character with cool loot this is probably the worst choice for an MMO. So ya, worth a shot if you haven't played it. At a minimum you'll enjoy it for a month...most people do.

Then of coarse there is guild raid progression and once you have a T3 guild city keep you can claim or siege a battlekeep. You need special pvp resources from Cimmerians End in order to build/repair your battlekeep which is also a guild effort in all aspects (claiming/defending or attacking/gathering resources/etc). Crafting has seen some love with boe recipe drops, cutlure armor recipes and much more. They are also releasing more for crafting in the next update, especially the gem revamp.
Itemization will be coming in the very large 1.5 update. |

If you didn't play at launch, no need to discuss what the game's status was then. I played at launch, quit and just recently returned. Huge improvements have been implemented and when DX10 arrives ( test videos available ) it will blow 99% of MMO's away in the immersive category. Pros: Cons: |

Age of Conan lost most of the critiques during the 10 month population decline and now only the loyalist remain, some stuff changed (bugs, tech issues) but overall this title is still a third-rate bargain bin game, the diffrence between other bargain bin games and AoC is that AoC charges you full price for a subscription. If anything wait until free trails which are due soon, though my recomendation would be to wait until the expansion as that is where Funcom has been investing their time and the expansion may give AoC some identity. Right now AoC's only identity is the great graphics MMO that lost 800,000 players for being bad, set in the Conan world. Funcom has reviewed all of its assets relevant for |

I have heard testimonies and the statements that people have been coming back in masses for 5 months now but since Funcom hasn't said there was growth yet, I'm sure they are losing more people than they bring in. Also it is pretty funny how little Funcom changed the game and now they all of the sudden have a 100% vague positive reaction from lowbies. The OP asked how AoC is doing, and by any standard definition the only response is "Not well at all." EDIT: Age of Conan is still the beta test for the 360 version that will probably never come out.

Age of Conan is still failing day after day. Nothing you can do about this fact. |

Did you even open this thread www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/191/view/ratings. Ohh gee, seems like those guys not only are resubbers (as oppose to Noob), but one of them is also a 17 years MMO veteran. I am sure he also must be completely wrong, boss? Those damn FCers, nothing but a bunch of crooks and thiefs... lol Edit (cut paste from the trhread): Gravarg writes: As the game is right now, it's the best MMO I've ever played! That's coming from over 17 years playing MMOs! Here comes the hillarious part, our very own WARboi in the AoC forum also decided to add some comments on AoC: finaticd writes: This game was released and resembled a money scam rather than an MMO, after re-subbing 9 months latterI didn't see much improvement. Don't believe the hype, it's close yet so far away. lolol, did you really write that just now? So you did open the thread, but you just chose to not read the part where a 17 years MMO vet just flat out says that AoC is the best he have had in all those years. My god I am laughing so hard right now. You truly are special and I think you need another star as well as the mmorpg comedian award for that. |

Is it maybe a ton of negative reviews after people returned to the game? No. Is it reports from Funcom that they are losing scrips? No. Have you played recently? I doubt it. And that is what counts. Make a real decision. Play for 30 days, and tell us how the game is failing. For now I will put your post in the same place your avatar belongs. Thanks. |

I don't believe testimonials as they are easily tampered with by shrills and viral marketers. I was working for a small company where people wrote negative information on various review sites so I created some positive testimonials, the first week I worked there. No shame in that. EDIT: I Was just a medical office manager at the time so I could only imagine what a company with a professional marketing team would be capable of. I left AOC a few months after launch angry at how many bugs, and how poor the game ran. I returned last month greatly impressed with how many bugs have been fixed and how smooth the game runs now. AOC has greatly improved preformance wise. The combat is better then any other avatar mmo. I have become so sick of the wow style combat like lotro, war, requiem, all these just feel the same with different skins. AOC combat feels more real, it's much more physical, and the graphics are very realistic. I am also sick of the cartoony anime style mmo. AOC is tops for the combat and graphics, now streamlined smooth running. AOC is not my "be all end all" mmo. There are elements I will always miss from good ole SWG, but AOC is a blast to play and stunning graphically. The new devs also are taking it in a good direction with the rpg and item changes. O....and if you think I'm one of those "marketers" feel free to troll my history back when AOC had released. I was very negative about the game state. My main mmo has been EVE for 3 years now. AOC is my bloody violent fun second mmo. |
