Games I have played:

Everquest

Everquest 2

SWG

DAOC

WoW

LOTRO

Vanguard

Pirates of Burning Seas

Warhammer

Age of Conan

Games I STILL play:

Eve Online

World War Two Online

So I tried Vanguard again a couple months ago and I had fun but the population was very low. That is one of my main factors is population. I am looking to maybe try something new or go back to AoC or Lord of the Rings. Anyone have any suggestions? I need a fantasy type game that I won't just be soloing to the level cap before I see anyone. I used to be hardcore EQ2 raider and I do not really want to go back to that game.

Do you like solo or grouping? If you like grouping Final Fantasy online is for you. You solo to level 10 then group pretty much to the level cap 75. Then there are so many things to do. There are these things that upgrade your skills and everything called Merits, there are soooo many things to do in endgame. Very group orientated, lots of classes, nice community. You should give it a try. Free trial for North American users I think. Just go to www.playonline.com and check it out.

After reading the OPs list of games played,  FFXI was the first game the popped into my head. I agree with you. and if the OP liked the games he's played already, he should be right at home there

really final fantasy is what you thought of? weird

i have no suggestions, i think everything out there is past its prime, too generic, or just missing that little bit more that would make it great

Your stars mean nothing to me.

Actually, FFXI was my first thought as well, since it's conspicuously absent from your list of games played.

The only reason I hesitate to suggest it is because the 2 games that you still seem to enjoy are more PvP-centric (and I'm going only by what I've heard about WW2 Online, sorry) and FF is all about PvE, with maybe the odd game of Ballista thrown in.

At the absolute least, you'll probably like the ability to change your character's class and try new things, and the options that having a Main Job and Sub Job give you to play with. I'd say check it out.

If a game has a million subscribers but spreads them across 50 servers, it might as well only have 20k subscribers.  So try a game that doesn't do that, such as Guild Wars.

I have thought of FFIX but my main worry was that the graphics are outdated... I upgraded my rig and I don't like playing games that my other comp could do max max lol, makes me feel like I wasted my money.

Also, I am not really a fan of the Asian themed game, the way it looks etc. I like the more western approach to character models and such.

Any other suggestions?

My suggestion is to ditch the RPG scene and get into L4D.

Friends and I did so, and we're quite pleased with it.

A couple of things here, i do agree with this post as i'm doing the same myself.  I can say that I played FFXI back in the day on the ps2 and it was my first mmo actually.  I wish i never would have gotten into WoW and played FFXI more but now i can't see going back to it since i need some eye candy in my games and if it can run on the ps2 then it's a little outdated to me.  i would honestly go back to Vanguard, i believe it is solid and lots of the issues have been fixed.  What i did when i went back to Vanguard is checked the forums for the most populated server and play on that and you shouldn't have a problem.  When i played the free month they gave me a couple months ago there were a ton of players on but I don't recall the server.  A little research will get you on the right server or just ask on the forums yourself.  Good luck to you, i think both games are good but little more biased toward vanguard.  Either way you win imo but completely different games and styles.

I am awaiting MO, Earthrise, and SWTOR...earthrise is scheduled this year and I hope MO is only about a year off.
