Seriously guys...  I hope the negative Nancys will be ready to yet again to prevent the hype trolls from PRing the game - fooling ppl into giving away money for something they might like (not certain), might run on their computer (not certain) and might have features in few months time that were supposed to be in at launch.

Since I'm not a cow or a sheep, pretty grass doesn't interest me much.

DX10 is looking good though, irreleveant of the grass.

Sadly neither 3d grass or my missunderstanding of "sub" will not make AOC any better.  By all means keep an eye on his youtube account tho.  Hopefully it will get ppl to actually base things on FACTS - not PR.

And the fact is still that DX10 was said to be a feature of the game when AOC launched.  It was not.  And neither is it now 8 months later.

Ohh come on....did you quit the game because it didnt have dx10?....no you didnt,you like me and the many others quit because of the preformance and bugs and ofc lack of content.

The preformance is alot better the content is alot better and the bugs are few and far between.

Ofc you still hate AoC/Funcom so what better way to attack them than "boohoo where's the dx10,if dx10 was here I would love the game"..

Bullshit....dx10 is an add it wont improve the game that much,yes certain places you may say"wow that looks great in dx10"but the game itself is the same.

Before i start i have to say i truly am happy yopu enjoy the game honestly it has it good parts but wasnt for me.

If you're running LotRO in maxed settings with DX10 it's every bit as impressive, in my opinion, and doesn't cause lag or bring my machine to it's knees.  Nor do I have to put up with many of the other nuissances of AoC that I've heard about.  Granted, I don't play AoC, and I haven't kept up with all of their improvements, but I'm just saying, it's not the only MMO that has DX10 and looks beautiful.

I do like pretty grass.  I like to sit down in a field of grass and wildflowers sometimes and just "feel" the breeze.  All of those things lend to immersion, so I do get the "point" of the OP's excitement.  Glad you like your game!

This is the million dollar sentence. This is the sentence I could live off of for life for how many times I have seen it written here.  Why discuss the issues of a game that you know nothing about? How do you know how performance of the game is compared to LOTRO when you have not even played, and based it solely on here say..Please try the game before commenting.

I can already tell you why LOTRO runs better in DX10 though at this time. Turbine has already stated it is NOT 100% DX10 compliant, but only uses "pieces". AoC will be 100% compliant. DX10 is not even complete in LOTRO, so yea, if they only use pieces, of course they can cheat and make it run better.

And this I can also agree with. Immersion is key. Even in DX9 I feel more immersed in Hyboria than I ever did in Turbines rendition of Middle Earth. There is so much missing there, that I just felt empty after playing in LOTRO. I feel complete everytime I enter Hyboria...from music to visuals. That is the key.

All of us have our own preference though. But, all I am saying is please try not to pass judgement on a game you have not tried yet based on hater posts. Make up your own mind, and for just 10 bucks now, you sure could not go wrong at least trying the game and becoming more informed...

Fair enough.  Although I didn't "judge" the game.  I was very careful to say that I hadn't played it.  I never stated, "AoC sucks," or any other kind of typical hater fare.  I simply made the statement that LotRO is also a beautiful game, and didn't come with some of the annoyances that I have heard AoC has.  I did not say that I myself hated AoC, or had any personal issues with it.  Yes, it's hearsay.  Hearsay isn't always wrong, however.  It can be.  It can also be accurate.

Also...on a sidenote....I'm a bit loathe to spend money to try every single game.  I do try every game that is of a topic that interests me.  Conan....has never held any fascination for me.   See....I did that with Warhammer Online to the tune of not 10 bucks, but rather 50.  I wanted to "give it a go" before "passing judgment" as you call it.  Sometimes listening to other people that have played games, can save you a lot of money.  Sometimes....their taste is so entirely different from mine, that I can find what becomes a real gem of a game for me, regardless of what someone else thinks of it, and vice versa.  It's really just a "judgment" call on where you want to spend your money.  If we're both happy with the games we are playing...it's all good.

Middle Earth held some fascination for me, being that I read all the books in high school and beyond.  So LotRO gave me personal reason to try it.  I just don't feel any real draw to the Conan story.  And if you say that they game is awesome, amazing, fabulous, has better or more DX10 or w/e....okay, that's fine.  I wasn't arguing that it sucks....LOL.  I was, as I said, just stating that there are other very pretty games out there.

Thats cool. It did look slightly judgemental, as the statement of the nuisances due to "other" players opinions came off as "I would not try it anyways due to other opinion". I did not mean to make it sound like an attack either. But, like I stated...the number of times I hear that from people who WOULD be interested in the game, but let other peoples judgement ruin their opinion, just seems wrong is all.

I am confused over why you would even stop by a forum of a game you are not even remotely interested in, but I know it was due to the DX10 video. 

Like you, I so wanted LOTRO to be my game, as I enjoyed Tolkien more than REH when it came to their fantasy worlds...or so I thought. But, Turbine did kill Middle Earth for me, and I lost interest in that world. Maybe I grew up...who knows.

But, I am glad LOTRO works for you, as it does not for me. As to the DX10, the full compliance of Funcom on the DX10 standards is not helping push it out very fast, but luckily the world looks awesome without it...and once it does arrive, it will be an incredible perk.
