I totally agree about customization being a very important aspect of any MMO. Not to beat a dead horse, but that is one reason why I loved SWG (Star Wars Galaxies). You could change every aspect of your character and you could be as fat or skinny. In fact one of the actual professions in the game was I.D. which is now put in with the entertainer character in the game. So even after you created your character you could recreate anytime you wanted within your species that is. I still have yet to find an MMO out there with that level of choices. I don't like the greek god look of most games, or the cartoon look either. I want something that looks real but with many options. Same for the clothing. I want to wear armor when necessary and have normal clothing when I'm in town etc. I guess that's why I never stuck with WOW everyone wore the same thing and looked the same, how uneventful.

That's what I like about Aion. I like to see diversity and the ability to make your character unique in mmos. I hope Square Enix looks at Aion as example for character customization for "Rapture". |

I am just going to have to jump on this bandwagon. I hardly ever really notice the color of someone else's character's eyes (a common, but mostly useless customization) , but if they were 4 feet tall and 300 pounds, I'd recognize that character from a distance.
I am always in favor of more options. |

CoH had a lot of big round tankers running around. Midgets were really popular too. "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." |

In Project Vex, your physical appearance is linked to your Physical Attributes. To create a fat character, select a low Agility score and fairly low Vitality score. You then have the option of making your character appear fat, among other variations of phenotype. Note: You may be both fat and strong at the same time. Basically, each attribute has thresholds of variation for affecting the overall look of your character. The other two Attribute groups (Mind and Spirit) also can create opportunities for unique character appearances. H A D O K E N !

I remember playing Vanguard in beta and they ahd a pretty good character creator at that time....i made a half giant shaman that was butt ugly and had a huge gut........It was quite humorous because alot of players had very unique looking characters but apparently it ofended some and they took away the excessive variation in character creation. |

The truth is the more complex the graphics get, the harder it is to offer customization. To do something like body mass in a modern mmo, it requires making every character model atleast twice including every piece of clothing. With less complex games like Mabinogi or Anarchy Online, its far easier. |

That's not true at all. It's called morphing. SWG did it great, and had far more customization than any newer MMO with similar graphics. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

Yeah that would be funny and commical. However that stuff belongs in games like WOW. I don't mind if it's there in serious hardcore mmo scene, as long as its there every once and awhile like in EQ. |

Thats what I am talking about. To make a morphable model you need to make a morph target, thats a remodel. The other method is simpler but the results are uglier and thats scaling fat bones. Star Wars Galaxies also had a much larger budget then those other mmos. With enough manpower its doable, but when you are working with an 8th the budget, customization should be the first thing axed. |

I disagree... Customization should be Number one on any game claming ro be a RPG. If it wants to be a darkfall or war with massive Pvp then yeah you ax it down to the bone. A Rpg where 90% of the people look the same isent a RPG. its just a game. If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. |

(I can't believe he got that far without getting killed, but Imps got him) |
