Who could give a rats ass about crusty old darkfall after seeing this? Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. ... There's a bad moon on the rise. |

People, Mortal Online is not even in beta. That video is basically alpha footage and animations and polish will come later. This game is still in early production, but they have an agressive release schedule. From what I can tell, their beta process will run similiar to the orginal Everquest. Where they will have three phases of beta (reaching milestones in each phase and announcing how they fared!) then have an larger open beta and drop the NDA.
That was the formula for EQ, DAOC, AC, Ryzom, EQ2 and many other games. I'd expect phase 1.0 of beta to start in May 1st and lasting several months. Phase 2.0 will probably be group interplay and class dynamics as skills scale and the last phase (3.0) will be Finalizing animation, particle effects, world errors, skill balancing, etc. Plus continuation of other tweaks. Open Beta will be to stress and break things..!
My Point is that what you see is the very minumum this game will provide. Star Vault seems to pride them selves on being reserve. Large scale battles are the whoole point to this game. It's about land and conflict. Normal skirmishes are expected and being coded for 15 vs 15. Or small platoons. I've spent the last 3 hours reading about the game and it really no different than Darkfall, other than group tactics are a bigger part of combat and so is the interplay between each member of your group. Knowing when they are about to do something allows you to react, etc.
This game will probably be released when Darkfall is finally getting Aventurine's knife and they are in survivor mode. Cannot see any negatives to Mortal Online except if you just don't like FPS games.

Sadly I wont be buying a computer that can support this game for some time.
Looks amazing though. |

Price of a card really only determines the resolution you want to run. Here: HD4830
You can build a quad-core system with 4GB of RAm for under $500 bucks... stop feeling sorry for yourself! It's march of 2009, it's Holloween was 6 months ago... wake up!

LOL I know how much it costs, my home is saving for a wedding though, which of course comes first. ( Though actually Im sure my fiance would understand and be right beside me as she is a gamer as well ).
Edit: I play on a custom built laptop, job requires me to be in motion too often to bother with a desktop these days so I cant just upgrade the card heh. Also, nice halloween comment, oldy, but a goody. :) |

But people keep saying that MO isn't designed for Large Scale PvP fighting, and is more of a small group fighting like Guild Wars.
Does it have friendly Fire? |

The reason people keep saying that is because that is what SV said when they announced their alpha write up of combat. I don't think this will change becuase the graphics and game play will cause FPS and ping will be a huge hinderence to game play.

Motion sickness inducing first person view. Much more so than Darkfall. Nope, MO is not for me. I hope the next new mmo title doesn't force you into first person view. |

NAME ME ONE FEATURE THAT DARKFALL HAS THAT MORTAL ONLINE DOESNT.
I win.
Mortal Online has everything Darkfall has plus many more.
People need to do their homework before they smash a game that they dont know anything about. Dont do on what you hear in rumors, goto their website and READ IT. You shall be enlightened. |

I love how ALL the darkfall fanboy's still say "the environment isn't immersive like darkfall's" or "the combat looks like crap". Funny, because i recall darkfall looks like a barren wasteland EVEN in the grassy area's, and the combat in darkfall is just click click click sprint click click sprint click and so on. This actually has some directional attacks and such. |

A first person MMO with the mindless hack of Morrowind? Yeah I am sure they are shaking, lol.
