I could only stomache about 5 days of this game and I thought I would share my experiences with those of you who are considering buying this game. Every day I would suffer through the queue for a few hours (1-5 hours on average including 12+ hrs of server downtime at times). The world is huge and empty. There are small clusters of goblins you have to kill for your first quest to collect 4 axes. There are 4 goblins that spawn in the quest area and there are between 1-10 other people trying to kill them. It took me a couple of days to collect the four axes because I would get no more than 3 before being ganked or killed because you can't really wear armor or else you will be insta ganked. The best is when people in full armor and mounts run behind you hitting you from a mount. Also, there are times when it isn't even possible to kill goblins because they are bugged out. If you are sucessful in killing said goblins, get used to them because in my week in DF, which including running across the world for several hours, I saw 3 types of mobs. Goblins, spiders and humanoids in a cave. AV must have run out of money before they could properly populate the world with mobs although even if there were mobs they are nearly impossible to solo and would likely result in you getting ganked before you could loot while at low health. Crafting is terrible. I cannot repeat that enough. It costs 500gp to train it which took me about a week to save up. The only way to make money because of the ganking and buggy goblins was to actually sell crafting mats that I could have used. It is a huge pain to actually make something and people will only buy it at about 10% markup above cost and it the time it takes to run to sell and collect matts takes several hours. In the last patch crafting was made even more difficult requiring you to travel further from town to get mats which were made more rare. It would take a new crafter months to get to where many crafters are now after 2 weeks because of these changes. Same with money and skills from exploits. This game will not appeal to people that like to accomplish things in a game. I was in a random hardcore guild and everyone talked about macroing 24/7 which I don't have a problem with. I even did it a little bit. Other than macroing to improve skills slightly people that started early and have money from all the glaring exploits that used to exist chase eachother down and murder eachother. They would talk on vent for hours about sieging a castle or something, screaming in rage about people speed hacking and wall hacking. Neither side would really lose or gain anything and most people fought naked. Much of the gameplay mechanics are reflected in the player bases' attitude. Chat is filled with vitriol and hate and after being ganked you will often recieve messages like "F you bitch," etc. I was looking for a friendly environment so that I could learn the game when I joined my guild and when I got in vent I realized it wasa bunch of rotten teenage guys. Chat was filled with racist jokes and mom jokes. There were a few nice people but the hostile environment of the game is reflected in peoples attitudes. One of the reasons I hung it up was because I was falling into this dog eat dog predatorial mentality and it really isn't what I want from a game. I will wrap this up because I need to find something else to play until a decent company releases a new MMORPG. This game appeals to a VERY small niche market much like the failed game Fury did. This game will not be sucessful and I give it slight less time than AoC took to fail. If you want to play a good FPS game play COD4 or TF2. If you want to play a good MMORPG play WAR or WoW. If you want a mixture of the two don't play this because it is terrible and you will just quit out of frustration after a few days. Ways to salvage DF: -Add a more restrictive PvP server -Add more servers including a NA one -Make crafting more profitable and interesting -More than 1 or 2 mobs every 5 sq. miles -Make a way to travel quickly -Overhaul UI and game control mechanics -Better gfx and gameplay in general -I could go on and on Before playing this game I thought that it could have potential because of all the people saying how it is the best ever and the greatest. I should have learned my lesson from all of the other games like AoC that had people up in arm about how great it was.. for the first 2 weeks... until they disappeared. This game IS NOT the best ever and I think many of them are thrilled for now because they got an early start and are now orgasming in their super man undies every time they gank a naked noob and tell call him a "noob bitch." Calling this game is like calling McDonalds the best ever. Although you may have a psychological atachment to it, making it better for you, it still doesn't comapre with a fancy restuarant, like WoW or EQ. This game is for sadist and masochists and allowing people to kill each other without reward belongs in a skill based FPS. I am not trolling this game. I could care less if it succeeds or not, I am merely giving my opinion. If my best friend walked up to me and asked me what I thought of this game because he was thinking about buying it, this is what I would tell him. So that you can gauge my tastes in games, I lasted 4 years in EQ1, 3 months in WoW, 2 months in Vanguard, LoTRO, AoC, WAR and many others that range between 1 day and 1 month. I guess I could be called picky but I can normally stomache more than 5 days of a game.
And yes, you can have my stuff.. I am in Heimdal although I don't have much because of the griefers/gankers. Contact me for info on my account although I was banned without explaination from the official forums.

Pretty much. It's just not worth the time as it is. I can't even login because of queues, timeouts and server crashes. I'm in a great clan and enjoying myself while I can actually play, but the cons currently still outweigh the pros for me. The launch has just been pos tbh. |

My experience in this department has been quite the contrary. I reccommend everyone who is considering Darkfall to research clans thoroughly before making any commitments. Because of the absolute dependancy on others in the game, the choice of clan could make or break it for some. I was lucky to land myself in mature, friendly group (TBC). |

The ubergankage is what is going to destroy the game, and fast. There's no control on PKing so it's rampant, and having the whims of a few players override the enjoyment of LOTS of others means you will lose players often.
I am so glad Mortal Online is implementing statloss for PKers. |

I suppose MMORPGs are like anything and the new generations should take the failures of the old generation to make a better product. Howpefully they look at the absurd effects of unrestricted PvP and cast it out of future games. This game had about a 3 day window to join and be competitive, and I missed it. There is no catching up now. |

I just checked it out and see that it is Swedish. After the abject failures of DF and AoC, I think I will wait for an American MMORPG. |

I'm not betting on that, but time will tell. Less than 24 hours to find out :) |

I don't know if I should be offended by that as I'm from Sweden myself. :) You think americans are better at making MMO's? Are you really going to judge a game by what nationality the developers have? |

I agree the alignment system is pretty pitiful in that the penalty for killing your own race is almost irrelevant if you build up a few points.
This makes things a gank fest within your own race which is just plain annoying when there are several other entire races that you are meant to kill and basically ruins that games for noobies.
I agree with OP crafting is basically pointless since you can't really make much of a profit and the travel distances make it impossible to have access to many people, and I would know as I grinded up to 75 armor smithing. With the new resource node patch, crafting has been made into an even worse grind and is basically a waste of time now.
Maybe I am a little too carebear, but sometimes I want to go out and make a few coins or reagents without being ganked by my own race every few minutes. That is probably why I crafted, but now that I cant even find any active nodes for miles and miles, I can't even do that.
This makes you entirely dependent on your guild to get anything done, which is usually fine, but for most guilds you wont have multiple groups running at the same time, and with the que, you will rarely have many people in the game at once.

And yes I believe with all my heart that different countries do things better or worse than others. Get real. |

OK. First I have no intentions to play this game, but to sum up everything you just said, the game does not meet the pve and craft requirements you were looking for? Cool. I have read that a few times. But on the other hand , it was my understanding , as an observer, was this not a pvp intended game? I know it is hard to give a pvp review while you seem to have been ganked a bit, but man, i could have swore the sole purpose of DF was to be for the PvP Hardcore crowd. I agree though , if it is a true sandbox, you sould be able to craft, killl mobs or player and gain skills and gear in everyway imaginable. BUT Cheers for trying it though , im still going to be patient. Jumping into WAR, Vanguard and AoC ruined those games for me.

To the OP - how do you dare to bash and troll the best game ever made in whole world ! Wait a minute, i am just kidding ;) P.S When you gain some experience at this forums. You will find that so called "haters" and "trolls" are just intelligent people trying to warn you about plain obvious truths, that some are to blinded (by self fanboyism) to see

I think this belief in the world of MMORPG is a complete misnomer. The strongest are those who have invested the most time. The smartest are those who can catch another player doing something that is imparing his ability to fight back. Is sneaking up behind a naked person that started yesterday and 3 shotting him in the back mean you are smarter than him? I suppose a genius would sit in town all day and never leave if your reasoning was correct. I have been killed by my own race resting next to a guard by someone 100 yards away with mana missile. Does it make him smarter than me? I would think not. It makes him more devious. anyone can press AWSD and click a mouse button but knowing how to grief comes with intent and practice. Racketball is a game of skill... MMORPG isn't. |

Meh, as if I have any energy to argue. Your obviously just out to offend me even more, so believe what ever you want. All I can say is, it has absolutely nothing at all to do with where the developers are sitting in the world. Most developers hire people from all over the world. |

i guess i meant it as a question.. i agree with you. I know i would lose my mind after 5 days of gankfest and trying to learn a game. Guess the only fps i am used too is on my 360. Think it will stay that way too. ps. Racketball should be full contact for those like who lack the racket skill part |

They should hire Chinese programmers to program all the software in the space shuttle because they are cheaper. That would work out well. Also, why would I care about offending you? I don't even know who you are. Drop it already no one cares. |

well if you allow me to but in it does matter to some degree. Compare asian games to western and youl know what Im talking bout, as for swedish/american well no I dont think that matters though and its ignorant to think that way, sure some swedish games may suck but so will american games do too. So long as its western based you wouldnt know the difference between a belgian or a california based game, that is if your not a nationalist. *edit* right as of DF.. quite interesting cause of the fact its norwegian/greek.. anyway its a lowbudget game and should by no means be compared to any of the other major mmos out there and its always been known its a niche based game with somewhat crazy pvp.. although I must say I thought it was just vaporware... still think it is*

I have no idea why people like offending complete strangers on forums. Maybe they are just bored and have nothing better to do or it's empowering to be a jerk without any repercussions. Anyway, I really don't understand your chinese-thing.. what's your point (except that your obviously racist) ? |
