See Dark and Light, it just dissapeared. See Mourning, it just dissapeared. Name me one game that the scenario you described actually happened...
EDIT: holy F#CK i hope DF does not come up again with SONY!!! Might as well give DF to EA or Blizzard! What are you thinking? These are the same guys that pushed VG to release early and crash and burn.
SOE had nothing to do with Vanguard releasing early. They had no say whatsoever in the game and were only publishers at the time. Many people knew before SOE was even on board that the game was going to release early after the break with Microsoft because there was barely any money left. If SOE did pick it up, they probably would make it into some semblance of a decent game like they did with Vanguard. /facepalm the game released accomplishing barely anything it set out to do, and was pve heavy probably thanks to soe When I'm energetic I'm: When I'm at default I'm:

What difference does it make how many melee skills there are when you miss me, and I hit you. Yep. This is where the FPS element comes into play. I need to time my swing when your in range and connect. That is the skill. |

Something tells me you have never played a fps game before. Maybe go play mount and blade and then come talk about 'DF takes skill'. I forgot darkfall is a whole new genre that is basically like you are in the game. Cult status has reached a new level. |

I know it has better attacking and defending mechanics. Your referring to it likes its an mmo though. Is it? |

I was refering to you saying darkfall takes skill. I just said even f2p mount and blade takes more skill. Sure darkfall is an mmo. You can hide behind that all day. To say its combat is better than some f2p games is absurd. Just because a character gains skills or in this case macros them, doesn't make it better combat than a fps. In fact even jedi knight academy had better combat than darkfall. Regardless of being one genre or the next.
The only real logic you fanboys have is to hide behind the term "but but that's not an mmo!" Heck you want an mmo then fine. Ryzom had better combat. RYL had better combat. AoC better combat. War better combat. I guess to some people pressing S and D and sometimes mouse 1 is skill. |

Warhammer’s combat is better? I don’t think so bub. WAR is the worst example of combat. Tab targeting=bad. C/C=through the roof/bad. Autoface upon attack/bad. Unlimited arrows=bad. No friendly fire=bad. No FFA=bad. Nice example there.

Sadly yes War is better. At least in war you have options. Sure go play darkfall where you cannot cc at all so people just run for 10 minutes or just speedhack. Or press the same button over and over because you really only have 1 option. Want to play archer? Sure just go farm for 3 hours to fight for 5 minutes. Got anything else? the pvp in ryzom not good enough for you? The pvp in ryl not good enough? I forgot games made 5 years ago have = to better combat. Auto facing? Are you a newb? Ive not seen that in a game since daoc.
And sorry to say no you can't just only state mmos. Constantly fanboys relate darkfalls casting and archery to FPS games and how amazing they are. It's not anything new at all. I know darkfall is revolutionary right. |

Not going to talk about all the issues with DF there are so many... but... X amount of patches and no patch notes. As a massive troll and anti DF person I often could not sleep at night thinking : "What if DF actually start behaving like a normal company and disseminating information on changes and vision for the games future". Fortunatley sleep is back on the agenda cause its obvious AV are carrying on as they started. (Actually I never lost sleep but more chuckled and laughed myself to sleep at AV antics). This is not just fail. Its Aventurine fail. What the heck is wrong with this company .. no website update nor patch information. Do they have problems writing ? Are they all dyslexic ? Do they writes too bad Engalishedid ? Or is it because the lead developer is super muppet ? Heck lets go back to having an NDA I am sure they would love that. I despise this behaviour and it just is not how a customer should be treated. Welcome to a new low standard. Come on you five or six DF fans... snap outta it... detox whatever your on and accept it. AV are bloody awful. Now about those other points... ;) |

Didn't he specifically mention that magic is the only part of the game that allows diversification? How many melee skills are there? I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time. |

He means different skills, not the same four skills with different weapons in the name. Name 10 completely different melee skills. |

So if they have called sword knockback .."needles kick" and the greatclub knockback "donkeys pain" would have been diffrent skills for you then ? You have to buy them separatley and train with the mathcing weapon to get them..so they different.. They could introduce unique weapons specials for each weapon tho..but not much..axes some "cut attack"..maces some "crush attack" ..but not much ..betterwould be they introduce some speed / damage related swing mechanic IMO.. -----MY-TERMS-OF-USE-------------------------------------------------- "There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." Sword knockback or pike knockback is still just "knockback". That's one skill. And having to buy it twice or a dozen times for different weapons does not make it anything more than one skill. So, there's one. 39 to go... You opened your mouth, now prove what you say. Name 9 more out of the 10 I asked for. So far we've got "knockback".

Sword knockback and polerarm knockback makes 2 diffrent skills.. + 7 other weapon classes knockback makes 9 + polearm seize = 10 there you have 10 skills.. A speed dmage mechanic would be really nice ..holding longer your attack button -more swing before releasing resulting in increase damage ..that would i call a real new skill.. -----MY-TERMS-OF-USE-------------------------------------------------- "There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." They're not different skills. They're the same skill applied to 2 weapons. Funny when "carebear" games like WoW and EQ2 give you more different skills than a so-called "sandbox" game. I won't bother you with it anymore. I love when a fanboi does more harm to the game trying to defend it than a so-called hater. You and Tasos apparently went to the same spin-doctor class. |

In reality, there are only 4 active melee skills, and if I remember correctly, about 2 passive skills. And to ppl above me, I mean the combat of DF is bad... but to compare it to WAR... damn. Real time combat allows for WAY more player skill in 1 v 1 than WAR... and for group combat, the depth of DF's potential combat blow's WAR's combat out of the water (not saying I'm a fan of DF's combat, they made some of the worst possible decisons making 1v1 combat really boring, but its automatically better than WAR's combat simply because its in real time) When I'm energetic I'm: When I'm at default I'm:
