Some aspects of the game are ugly, I'll give you that but the environments are beautiful, the armor is well designed and textured especially coming from such a limited amount of 3D artists.

The biggest problem I have though is the damn attacking animations... Like one person had said in another thread they look like disfunctional action figures attacking the same way every time...

Its true the animations are terrible, but the reason I could deal with poor animations is because unlike WAR with all its effects and BS ...

Darkfall has the potential to support large scale fights.

This is a legitimate review, I don't see any reason to deride him. The game is not for everyone, that's for sure.

I'd rather not grind in any game and this one is the same. I can play and enjoy myself without having a 100 in any skill. I'll get there when I do. The draw of this game for me is the fact that there is no end game. I can wait for the skills to raise.

Nope, it is only a legitimate review if you think this is the best MMO ever with features that have never even been thought of until the devine Tasos willed them into being. Otherwise, you are just a troll.

haha you say macros are out as if its a feature that got nerfed. Macros were never in. Besides, when you play an mmo you should expect to plany months and months to maybe even a year or more before something is maxed out. You shouldnt be trying to max magic in a month or two.

So if I'm understanding this right... what you're saying is that you don't want to play this game because you're too lazy to grind it and now they won't let you macro/bot it?  You're actually saying this in public?  You do realize that MMOs are not fps or strictly fighting games, right?  If you were supposed to be as good as everyone else without working for it then there wouldn't be a leveling system in place it all.  It would just be a swords and sorcery themed fps.  This is an mmoRPG.  The point is to create a character and build it with friends while creating some fun experiences and memories.  You're not supposed to just come on and be as good as anyone else and start fighting.  If that's what you're looking for then you're looking at the wrong genre of game.  I'm actually glad you're quitting... twice.  Games like these don't need players like you.

I am not trying to read anything into it.  But it makes a difference if you are trying to get this game and are a huge fanboy of it.  As opposed to just not interested in any MMO right now and are just looking for something.

 

I will not buy this game.  It is just not what I am looking for.  B ut I look a review of a game and make my own decision on it's validity. (Both the review and the game)  I don't see a reason to post like what you posted other than being a fanboy or someone looking to start something.  In other words, why are you posting your opinion of "his" review if you don't care about the game?

Yes I am an MMO fan not specific but I hope this game gets better I never said the game is great I never said it was bad just that this review is horrible and the fact he stated because of not being able to macro now even makes this more of a bogus biased review. You my friend sound like you would like to start something. As you stated my opinion and it is what it is, you picked at me.

So, just to get this straight, are you saying you would buy and play DF if you had more time to play MMOs?

And as far as the review goes...  It is his opinion, if you don't like or don't believe his opinion that is great.  My question to you has always been, why are you berating him for giving his opinion?  It is after all HIS opinion and not yours.  And he has every right to give it.  So again why are you berating him for it?  Are you on the other forums berating others who post bad reviews of that game?  Or is it just here?

You are supposed to be out in the world harvesting and fighting people or whatever. And its supposed to be about skills, not macroing up then going outside.

You won't be trading but more than, what... couple mins out of an hour?

while it sucks having to collect resourses to boost crafting skills... there should never been a macro based skill leveling as you may as well then have a GM or server admin tweek your character to be maxed in that skill tree...

im well versed in afk farming go play bounty bay online or the poorer english voyage century. both have a huge bot/multi problem with people afking farming for wood and iron. as it takes soo long to level skills in them... im sure way worse then DF has... as BBO is a korean based game...

but the fact you openly admit to doing that ruins any review credit you hold for your review.

as people will take your review and make their own thoughts and opionons based on it. if you quit because you cant macro in DF thats hardly president over say quiting because X skill doesnt work or X class cant use X gear (yes i know DF  has no class tree.. its an example)

but the fact you quit twice the 2nd over macros... make your review worthless as you didnt quit for any real game based reason other then being unable to cheat your skills/gathering items.

the simple reason being if your macroing logging or something whats to stop you macroing items too? perhaps next you will sit for 24hrs crafting armor or something making your self super rich while joe shmoo who plays 2hrs a day doing the same thing cant...

as i understand it DF is a player run econ so marcos shouldnt be allowed period as that effects econ.. when people resell stuff to other players in vast amounts it lowers the player based good return on that item to the point everyone has the best of everything and the game becomes totally worthless and boring.

though thankyou for your review. i dont think many will heed it  as valid though :/

i myself feel if you enjoy the game then good for you enjoy it for all you can dont let other people run you down for you having fun

also and i'm just thowing it out if you enjoy the game it really doesnt matter if other people knock it or hate on it you dont need to defend your enjoyment

I agree with you.  In a game that's being called sandbox the options are supposed to be near limitless.  There should be no restrictions on how you play. 

However, macroing is not a game feature for a reason.  As one poster said, macroing can effectively destroy a player run economy.  I've seen it first hand in games and it's a terrible thing.  When the best gear in the game becomes so cheap due to inflation that everyone can get it... what's the point?  Aventurine has said that unattended botting will result in a kick, and later a ban for repeat offenders.  They're not against players setting up macros to use while sitting at their computers to take away some of the tedium.  If an action requires 3 clicks and you create a macro to reduce it to one, and then use that macro manually, then there isn't a problem.  If you set a macro to repeat indefinitely and walk away so that you can come back to a fully loaded character that you only spent a few minutes on(the time it takes to set up the macro) then there's a problem.  At that point you can't even call yourself a 'player' because you're not playing the game.  You're letting it play itself while you reap the rewards.

To the OP and anyone else who's crying about Aventurine's stance on botting/macroing/hacks/exploits, I truly hope you decide to quit/avoid this game.  The game is having a hard enough time as it is right now without the players doing their part to make things worse.

I agree that anyone should be able to do with whatever they want in a sandbox. But most of these people hating DF are saying its not even a sandbox. But even if it wasn't one, I agree you play how you like; you are the one paying the fee.

The problem comes from when someone just wants to make macros to do stuff unattended to their keyboard and aren't even playing the game anymore, which you know he's saying was his purpose. Again, these are the people DF does not want, they've said that over/over. They are really just taking up space. I got a feeling that if they ever got up to 10+ servers, then these people would be welcome, but not now.

Right now, they probably want active folks as any game that has massive oRvR battles depends on that, so they want to get guilds up and fighting each other now. The last thing they want is what happened in Warhammer, where you had everyone stuck in Scenarios fighting and the oRvR wasn't happening, because they funneled everyone that way.

What he is doing is clearly against the spirit of what the game is trying to project. Sitting in town macroing spells and stuff is not the spirit of the game when its designed to skill up by fighting other players and mobs. It's precisely why he didn't have fun.. its too much work to do it the other way. And when you are paying to play a game, it shouldn't be work.

If his idea of fun is games where you can macro everything, then he's 100% right to quit, before he got banned. Twice.

I 100% agree if your gonna pay to play a game you should do just that play it

I guess i was just trying to point out that  there isnt a "right" way to play if someone wanted to gather resources all day or craft daggers all day they have every right to do so

i dont think that just because most people (guessing here as i havent played darkfall) are in it to pvp that thats the "right way to play"

trust me i know grinds can be unfun ( i still have bad dreams about pygmy goblins from DAOC ) but i take them as par for the course
