i've been play Warhammer online, i was satisfied for a few weeks but the broken and unbalanced endgame ruined it for me, i'm leaving it behind.
it's a shame really cause this game made me a huge PvP fan, but it's needing a lot of improvements.
so basically what i'm looking for right now is a MMO with a good PvP component, with balanced classes, but also a beautiful/immersive world to make the always-required-to-some-extent PvE less boring.
i'm considering these ones atm:
Age of Conan - heard it had a terrible launch but i keep hearing good stuff about how it has improved. open PvP also seems appealing and good eye candy. seems some people still have issues with class balance though.
EVE online - this one boggles me. i played the trial, liked the sci-fi ambience and all, but seems like it may not be fun enough, considering it's complexity, "exaggerated" freedom/sandbox-ness and an overall yawn-inducing combat system. still, some of these aspects could make it a better choice on the long run, something that can't really be evaluated on a trial.
LOTRO - i love the lotr universe, big fan. what has kept me away from this game is that it's basically a PvE game. unless it's REALLY interesting, i doubt i'll choose this one. plus, i hear there's no REAL endgame content.
overall i'm leaning towards Age of Conan. it's seems closer to Warhammer than all the others, and hopefully has had more time to iron out the problems because it was released half a year earlier. i'm open to advice and suggestions.
edit: i hate PvE grinding. most grinding of any kind actually. |

im sure ill get flames for this but give star wars galaxies a try... one of the BEST endgames of any game out there there is a questline at the begining that will take u from lvl 1-50ish and u will meet famous characters, see most planets, etc. the end game is FANTASTIC, the max lvl heroics and dungeons (pve) are just awsome. LOTS OF GEAR and other things to get to make your guy elite once u max lvl, getting to max wont make u wanna roll a new toon right away thats for sure. few other features - Space profession and politician for all, along with your profession (jedi, bounty hunter, smuggler, etc) u can also be a politician and build/run cities and u can do a space prof, 3 reb types, 3 imp types, 3 neutral. max lvl pvp in space, attack star destroyers, land on them... and if space aint ur thing u can stick w/ whatever u do on land. they have implemented in game voice chat which is great. 10+ fully explorable famous star wars planets like mustafar, hoth, tatooine, corellia, naboo, endor, lok, talus and more. one of the deepest crafting systems of any game period. if u a star wars fan u should def try it out, if not.. still prob worth checkin out free 14 day trial. hope this helps, if swg dont float your boat check out everquest 2, not quite as new as the ones u listed but great game, newer aint always better. |

Seems like you're already open to giving AoC a go. Since you're posting on this forum I gather you are familiar with the "debate". It doesn't cost that much to buy the game with 30 days game time, so give it a try and be sure to come back and give us your impressions. |

chill out people, it's just videogames, not the end of the world.
bought AoC, downloading it now (at 57% atm).
i'll drop my first impressions tomorrow or tuesday, and then a more in depth review once the "free" month ends.
edit: i did not consider SWG because i don't like the star wars universe much. although The Old Republic might pull me in, cause it's made by the almighy Bioware. Still, i avoid most things Star wars with great caution. |

try to get past lvl 40 before you decide to stay or not. the new fun crap that funcom has released is 50+ |

i know i'll eventually find this out myself but considering you've put in 400 hours into the game, how many hours you think are needed to reach lvl 80? |

I got to level 40 and quit. Didn't like how AOC was pvp wise. Can't explain it well. AOC is a pretty good game and has improved greatly since they first started. However; I truly believe they still have many flaws in the pvp aspect of the game. |
