Everything you type just reads out as blah blah blah |
I've been looking at the game a bit, and there seems to be a lot to be excited about. So I've decided to give it a try. Any suggestions for a new player? |

Well a pretty open ended question for sure, but here's my perspective as I've also just started the last couple weeks after much deliberation and the lack of ability to trial it hehe. First impressions? Awesome. The beginning of the game is such a rich Single player experience that really brings you into the flavour and story of Conan's world. Voice acting is superb, the dialogue is interesting and I actually wanted to listen or read the quests. Also combat is so deep, I'm playing a guardian mostly and it just has so many options for a "basic" melee it's quite enjoyable. As for suggestions? Well here's some things I think worth mentioning. PvP servers will see you getting killed in towns every time you try to hand in your quests. Rangers have a big advantage if you want to gank people, especially in town...quite lame IMO. Guardians are wicked tanks and take an assload of hits...really feels like what a tank should be. Demonologists kite super tough mobs that normal people can't kill, and barbarians will kick your ass with root that DoT's you for massive kill damage. Try all the classes if you want, healers are tough and not limited to healbotting since the HoT's let them get into the damage while the HoT's tick, After you find what you like to play, research the skills and how effective they are. There are abilties like stealth running, climbing, endurance, etc, where certain ones don't seem to do much right now, or scale badly. Also combos are plentiful and you may be overwhelmed trying to organize your hotbar. Just find the best ones and use them, they aren't all necessary, and your directional "common" swings do alot of DPS as it is. Fool around with the interface. Things like autofacing are annoying after a while and limit your ability to get as many mobs in your field of attack as possible, so turn it off to help line up the mobs in a group. Also before you get stuck mashing buttons and not attacking and wonder what the hell happenned, Turn off hotbar switching while running...shift is to run and, and you WILL switch hotbars by accident one time and die while fruitlessly wondering why you arent swinging lol. Other than that, enjoy, prepare to die alot if PvPing there are some cheap characters and low levels are fairly unbalanced so don't worry too much. It really is a great game and I'm glad I ignored the negative hype from launch...also glad I waited so that my gameplay has been mostly bug free as well. ;P |
