But is this game a better PvP game then Guild Wars? Think it can beat out GW's 6million$$ sells? |

Theres 2 core types of players for this game.
1. People who are playing. 2. People who log in, get killed, and whine about how it needs more stuff like World of Warcraft. Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL! |

Dont worry you still have quite some time before the closed beta ends. I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long. |

The problem is what they spewed for the last year as a company about how it was all things to all players. Instead they delivered the worlds largest FPS map. This game could have and should have been on the original xbox and simply called a Hexen 3 with multiplayer. |

I use to be in the iffy catagory on this game, expected it to be dark and lightish but hoped for better. Some people on this forum might of thought be downright fanboi, but during most of those post i was just correcting their retardness.
After playing the game I am a downright fanboi now. There are things people can comment about, but calling this a failure of game is downright retarded. Bugged AI has for the most part been fixed and PvE in this game is some of the best PvE I have ever had. Most of the mob Intelligence is fantastic.
Queuing still needs to be fixed
Melee combat system. It is simple but it works really well. Their is difference in the weapons now and they are balanced. Weapons people use to think were not balanced actually turn out balanced once skilled up. You do not have a million special buttons, but the 4 you get are actually all you really need.
The skill system in the game is a nice advanced version of the UO, where you do something in it skills up. But almost everything you do from running to swimming skills up so it has an effect on combat. There is still grind for skills, but you get to kind of choose your grind but you get into the nuts and bolts of the game rather fast.
I kind of wish the crafting could be better. But like the melee is works and the economy surrounding it is top notch.

Are you a miserable f*ck who would enjoy a MUD if it allowed you to roam free and gank people for no reason, living our your fantasties of being a criminal piece of trash? Or are you a real gamer that plays a mix of MMOs, FPS, RTSs, and knows what a good game really is? Look at this game: Crappy sound effects. Crappy animations. Crappy GUI. Crappy inadequate chat system. No voice chat. Weak monster spawn system. Archaic combat system. Huge queue times. Lag. Piss poor community. No NA servers. The list goes on Sound is bad but not a game ruiner. Animations are ok. Download ventrillo. Spawn system works well, they are not around every corner but they are where they should be. Alot more immersive and fun to hunt. Do mistake a simple combat system for a bad one. Its nothing revolutionary but it works extremely well with the gameplay and does require alot of skill and creativity in execution. Queus are bad, lag has not been and issue and i play with a 300 ping from korea. I can respond with a block and block slower heavy hitting weapons with shield. And there is no NA server because there was no NA release. I like the UI also, might be a taste issues but i ever got masterbatorial about WoW type UI . Was ok but never thought much of it.
You have to be an idiot to call this game good. And anyone who thinks this game is going to be fixed in less than a year is a complete moron. Look how long it takes a REAL company, such as EA or Valve, to fix simple little bugs and balance issues in their games. It takes MONTHS. Here we are talking about an MMO developed by some dumb as$ skeleton crew company. Think they going to have things patched up next week? Think again. Actually Aventurine has been very small and dynamic in responding to problems fast. Big companies can suffer from burocracy and other issue This game has attracted a worthless abusive crowd of players much like what you saw in UO and EvE. Scum of the earth trash who wouldn't lift a finger for their own mother. You are really not showing yourself to be above the fray. I enjoy the people i play with, might just have thicker skin, but i think it has more to do with the fact the community in DF is not as bad as people think. If you consider yourself one of those players, then fire it up. Me, no thanks.
Hope I responded to your complaints.
The PvP, siege mechanics, Racial hatred, world design, spawn locations, the simple combat system, mob AI, freedom of gameplay, crafting, and bug free gameplay are all done well or extremely well in this game.
Saying this game is not for you is something I can respect. WoW and warhammer are both extremely good games i can respect but i admit they are not for me. Because they are not for me does not mean I go trolling their forums calling them bad games (yes i know df people do this also).
When it comes down to it darkfall is an extremely good game that I will stand behind as a player.

The one thing I always wondered about some MMOs, is why you needed 50 different ways to swing a weapon when people only end up mashing six of them repeatedly because they work best, or perform the same action the same way under a different name. There are so many games that have a basic swing animations, but each result is convoluted. You'll have one melee swing, where it gives your opponent -5% stamina for X amount of minutes and you +10.5% damage each time you swing it, another gives +5% to your armor defense but -10% to movement and -5% to your health for X amount of minutes and yet another gives +5% to your group for X amount of minutes. But when you look at the animations, it's pretty much the same swing. Then you end up with 10 hotbars of basically the same crap slightly changed, so it can be called "diverse" skills. Then people use just the same 4 macros in any given fight. Whether intentional or otherwise, it sounds as if the simplicity of Darkfall that you can just go bash someone with 4 basic actions really frees you up for other stuff. I never understood all the clutter a lot of games add in just to make it seem "sophisticated" and then half of those abilities don't work right, aren't really worth the time it took to think them up, or get exploited in ways devs never intended.

I now have three pages of excellent pro and con arguments by those passionate for the game and those against. Now, if you can please promise that you won't be playing this game - and bringing your abuse and low cognitive powers with you - that'll be a strong point in its favour. I'm just kidding, of course. I love you. Good luck. |

Haha yes hardcore RL full-loot pvp. When you stand outside your house cleanlooted, and the only thing you have left is a blessed wokpan and a toaster. I didn`t even get the car, but I was still a happy man.
I did play DF in beta, and I`m on the fanboi side. I have tried Darkfall, and I will play it if I manage to buy it. Why? Because I love full-loot PvP, and I like what some of you call a bad community. |

i don't there are fanbois anymore, there are just players & trolls. the trolls are super butthurt cause the game turned out to be good after all, and their own pet MMO still sucks. how else do you explain people who continue to post in the DF forum when they claim the game is bad? |

Hahaha.. Darkfall.... Good.. Hahahaha.
Seriously. This game is the worst thing you will ever play. Only thing that makes it different from Spellbinder / Magestorm is the use of skills and weapons versus exp levels and skill trees. The Darkfall world is just a big empty arena with nothing to do other than pking. |

in this thread www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/229368/Where-is-the-mobs.html , depsite the OP referencing a bug known to anyone playing thee game, and a bug they brought the serverrs down to fix yesterday in fact, you call him a troll and accuse him of stupidity not knowing where the mobs are.
When I called you on it, you even blatantly say you knew it was a bug , but called him a troll anyway.
So you are either a liar, or have a lifetime ticket for the shortbus , but on both counts, covering up a bug you blatantly admit to knowing about is the very defintion of a fanboy. A dishonest one at that. |

It's pretty straight forward really. You look at what the people who are enjoying the game have and compare it to what people who hate the game have. Then you figure out what you have and see where you fit. If you don't have what the people who play the game have chances are you will probably end up hating it. For Darkfall as it stands now the list includes A system that exceeds the required specs. A largish guild commited to the game Lots of patients and time on your hands to deal with queues (although the queues seem to be shortening quite abit now according to those who managed to buy the game and play it) A willingness to accept that to be mean your paying to play a closed Beta and to be generous your paying to play on a test server. It would seem that the ones who enjoy Darkfall meet all these requirements while the ones who hate it generally don't have 1 of the above to help pull them through the game as it stands now. So if you have all of the above read the positive reviews and see if they match your expectations and go ahead and enjoy yourself. If you don't either wait till there are more servers or a free trial offer and then give it a go or look for something else that grabs your attention. The lesser of two evils is still evil. |
