So all the people that say they would rather watch a chicks ass run around get sexually arroused by video games? I think that is the weird thing. Rift |

If I saw brad pitt naked, it would do absolutely nothing for me. I wouldn't be "turned off", either. However, a naked Rosie O'Donnel migh just " turn me off" for the rest of my life. Does that make me gay? |

If your looking at Rosie O'Donnel nude then you have more problems. Rift |

Not really an issue with me and sometimes I sometimes also do it for aesthetic reasons. However, I have come across guys playing girl toons and pretending to be real girls also, and that for me it utterly wrong and pathetic. |

These are roleplaying games, the point of these games is to play a role. I think most people playing an opposite sex role are probably quite secure within themselves and don't need to just play culturally accepted bad ass Chuck Norris style men. Or they just want to look different? |

I had guys talk to me for hours about Hip-Hop and Gansta Rap and I just went along with it. They probably thought I was was a real bro from the hood and wanted to roll with me. To save the MMO community from people like me, we should all have to play the right sex, the right race, the right age, and as Neobushi says above we obviously should all be human. There should be a clear warning to other players if I'm playing something other than myself - to protect them from my deviant behaviour. You're right to avoid partying with me, because clearly I'm sick, deluded and a direct danger to you. <sarcasm off> The first time I played a girl in an MMO was SWG. I played as a tailor and then found I couldn't wear half the stuff I made. Since the game would not allow me to put on a strapless dress, I re-rolled as a girl. I don't know what is worse, me playing a female character or the fact the game prevented me from playing out my cross-dressing fantasies.

my thoughts are you should get a g/f and stop lusting after cartoons. could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

disclaimer: I do not think dudes that play female characters are "gay". I am not a "homo phobe". I think people can play whatever they want, they paid for the game/sub to they're entitled to do whatever makes them happy.
Having said all that. Me being a male I typically play male characters. I find when I get into a game more and more it becomes my "online persona" of sorts. I'm not saying I dress up like a night elf and pretend to quest in my backyard or anything like that. It's just that online people relate to me though my character. I don't think I'm as comfortable with this if I were to play a female character. I'd also like to mention that I used to roll female alts for banking and such. In games like AoC where you can really make your toon look like a porn star I had to type the dreaded "I'm a dude" pretty often. This to me is creepy. I'm a 36 year old former marine and I've chased my share of trim. I know what "hitting on" a woman is and I'm not comfortable having some guy trying to mack on me because he thinks I'm a chick.
that's my 2c

well my experiences in WoW told me that alot of people would lick my arse if they thought me a girl, ROFL and im not kiddin, picking a female char and telling people ingame that ur a girl made many jump on their tail and help you all they could. I know alot of others must have the same experiences cause ive seen this in various mmo's by now. World Of Warcraft ? |

You don't do much besides play games do you? Queerosexual has been on tv and in movies. I think it is weird that guys like to play girls characters in video games so they "don't have to be gay and look at a guys ass running around". You don't find that odd? Rift |

When you're young you play the gender you identify with. When you're older you play the gender that you want keeping you company. One might say they're both kinda tragic,. or sweet and funny. Either way remember this: They both require a little something called imagination. And when it comes to imagination, I can't really think of many traits that defines a person more. |

Everything on TV, and in the movies is real.
Truth. Science flies people to the moon. Religion flies people into buildings. |

This whole topic is always made more fun by the 'hardcore' people.... Those who think they're roleplayers because they use lots of midieval lingo.
The most fun is had when 9 feet tall walking, talking cows are complaining about why guys can't play girls. I think especially those people need either a reality check or a one way ticket to the looney bin. I've actually had this happen.... A player with a Tauren character in WoW (a druid even) was telling me that i can't possibly have female characters. I'm still wondering why that idiot didn't realize the irony of that situation. Playing: EVE, CoH, Tera, STO |

The point is.
No two people choose their characters for the same reasons. Not everybody identify themselves with their ingame character. I know i don't. I don't feel like it's me throwing fireballs at demons ..i feel the character i control is throwing fireballs at a demon. That character has nothning to do with me except i am controlling it. If i wanted to immerse myself to the point where i feel this is an extension of me i would become a LARP'er. However that's never going to happen since i find those types of people a complete joke |
