Come on Kiba daddy got a nice juicy steak for you... |
WoW is a good example of guys playing gal toons. Im sure this game play is the norm for most if not all MMO's I myself will play a gal toon just because I would rather enjoy the look of my creation with the pleasantness of a female toon as I lvl her up. etc.... I also prefer to see a gals ass running then some dudes lol. Here is the real kicker in the ol GEM SACK. When I just beat some poor sap playing a gal toon in pvp. Now he has to go to be wondering if he just got beat by a GAL.
What are your thoughts......

I think it's pretty understood that plenty enough males play female characters, so I don't think it matters to anyone (Not that it should, why shouldn't a girl be able to beat a guy?). |

In mmorpg's its a form of "be nice" attention seeking or the opposite if a girl is a man & I have no dought it has become popular with the gay community. |

I don't really care what gender the players around me have or what gender pixel puppet they made, As long as they're mature and fun to be around.
Personally, i usually play male characters. Not sure why actually, but then again... i don't really look at my own pixel character when i play a game |

i usually play male main and the rest female alts, and i am not surprised most chars are girls. but i would like it normal way (mostly nale adventurers), so it looks more realistic i like games when certain proffesions are male/female only. i also heard that in one mmo you are required to prove your gender when creating account and you can only make chars of your own gender. i think its cool, because if you see a girl toon in such game, you know its a girl in real life, so you can be more polite and stuff. whenever somebody asks me if i am girl in real life, i say yes and enjoy seeing them go silly Playing: Rohan |

With all due respect: I'd rather watch a chick's ass if I'm about to play a game for hundreds of hours. Men watching breasts had some health benefits, I heard, but I'm sure this stands for this as well. I figured this one out a long time ago
Some guys are perplexed why a MAN would play a female character in a game. The real issue they are having with the "problem" is not that it is gay or that they think the guy has transgender issues... but the fact they like to cyber. They hate they could possibly be flirting with a man.
These types of people sees MMO's as a possible dating venue where they can flirt and cyber with chicks they wouldn't dare talk to in real life. That's the real issue. God forbid they started flirting with a cyber chick that's actually a dude in real life. That is where these threads are coming from under the disguise of "why do guys play chicks".
It reminds me of those threads you will ALWAYS see on a new and upcoming MMO's message board called "How many of you are girls which will be playing this game" or a variant of it like "post your picture". The only people upset about guys playing female characters are the so-called keyboard cassanovas.
Nobody else has a reason to care |

Originally posted by DJXeon As a guy who actualy owns a kilt, I can asure all males that it is THE best outfit you can ever wear. I don't know why girls have ever gotten their hands on skirts. All they get is a blatter infection if it's to cold (as it can in skirts), and all men gets i poor sperm quality if it gets to hot (as it can in pants). So basicaly all men should wear skirts/kilts and women should wear pants. As for why some guys play a gal toon, I have no answer. I know many that play a gal, and they all say, they would rather watch her ass then a guy's. |

I never understood why some people think it's a big deal, I've never done it but thats not because I'm against it. I just don't feel like it. It's a game. They should make a character they wanna make. Playing: Star Wars: The Old Republic, occasionally TERA. Waiting For: Guild Wars 2, and Elder Scrolls Online. |

Exactly! Pretty much how its almost always been for me. I really don't recall ever playing a male character in any MMO to start with; I've always chosen female even though I'm male, but on occassion I do play a male if that model looks better for said class based a lot on the animations and looks. What got me originally started on it was back in the UO and EQ days and everyone knows that women were very scarce back then, and from recent videos on $ony's Home and other MMOs in general, men are still weak when a female model is present! At least I recall constantly rerolling new female chars in UO and EQ and just run around in their underwear and I'd get all kinds of trades/whispers/etc from male model chars and they'd just give me money/items left and right. I would then transfer all the newly acquired goodies to my main and reroll another new char and repeat. Seriously I made a fortune early off in those games and many times during the adventure on my main I'd still get handouts just cause I was a female char....and I'm assuming they never knew I was a male or ever asked or maybe they did and the female char was enough to get free stuff.
Unfortunately that doesn't work anymore these days for the most part, but I still play a female char as I always have. There seems at least to me, a massive amounts of male chars in every MMO I play and being a female keeps me unique...kinda! I like the smaller stature/build, better hairstyle choices, I'm always playing a healer class and they look so much better as female in robes w/ stave than a male does!
...and yeah even though just pixels...I'd definitely rather stare at a female ass for hours on end than a male... |

Adolescent buttocks fixations aside I think it has more to do with the relatively poor modeling in most male avatars. Artists just don't seem to spend as much effort modeling them and their gear. "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice." ~Greys Law |

i dont mind it. I detest it when they try to act like girls to receive benefits or sympathy.
I dont have a problem with girls playing guys due to the sexist views of some of the gaming population. MMO wish list: -Changeable worlds |

I only wish games were a little more realistic and add a monthly PMS debuff + slight bleeding DOT for a few days. |

I enjoy playing female toons. In fact thats all I play. Male toons on most games look boring and cliche'. (IMO)
Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR. |

I have some female avatars; for me it really depends on what I envision the character being. For instance my ministrel in LOTRO is female but ask yourself who would raise your moral more a female singing at you or a male. |

It depends entirely on the game, and which model looks cooler. I always roll female toons in Vanguard because the male toons look retarded. Whoever designed the avatars in Vanguard put ten times the effort into the female models, and you can tell. Also, if it's a game kind of heavy on the roleplay factor, I make sure to roll a male toon, because I really don't know how to act like a girl. In fact, I generally make sure other players know I'm a dude if I'm playing a female toon. This alleviates any confusion, stops them from hitting on me, and nobody can say I'm abusing it to get handouts. Most times though, I stick with male characters. All of my WoW mains were male. I have no problem with a person wanting to play the opposite sex character, and I think it has very little to do with cyber or whatever. And if you think it does, you were probably doing the same thing, and got shot down one too many times by real girls. Science flies people to the moon. Religion flies people into buildings. |
