I've mentioned this in my other thread. The reason nobody is dying is because almost everyone is using their newbie (no drop) equipment. I'm not sure how edited this video is, but in the fights I participated in most (50%+) of the players were naked too. It was the way my guild worked.. if we went out killing mobs, we took main equipement.. but when we were going to raid another guild, most of our guild banked their good stuff and took newbie gear only. Every single PK I've encountered in the wilderness was naked with their newbie equipment. Yes, you kill them most of the time, but you get nothing from them. They are just hoping to get lucky and kill you and get your stuff. |

Secondly, "Videos don't do justice to how much of an adrenaline rush the battles are..." ..? Dude, are you basing a game solely on how much of viceral attachment you have to ganking people...? Because, you cannot address your anger, frustration or energy in real life sports, or physical activities..? Darkfall is suppose to be an MMORPG, not mortal combat... which you have obvisouly never played, based on how excited you are. If you are looking for somethign viceral and HARDCORE... how in the hell does Darkfall fit that bill..? THat video is pethetic and comical... nothing in that screams of an adrenaline rush. Dieing means nothing in Darkfall... death in the original EQ had more hardships and importance to your character. Darkfall = Carebear UO for the mentally challenged ..!

I was involved in that Hamlet battle. Reportedly 300 or so people. Our Guild, Image helped support the Hamlet. We brought about 40 members. We travelled about 1/2 just to get there. As we crested a hill we saw enemies as far as the eye could see scattered all along the plains with a concentration of the attacking clan and alliances secured up in the city. The battle in the vid was before we got there. It was the most amazing fun I have ever had in an MMO. This is also just the beginning. A lot of our time has been devoted into building our city (almost complete). The real fun will be bringing in the siege equipment.
p.s. System specs are: Dual core E8400 3 ghrtz 4 gigs ram 8800gts (320 mb) vista 64 In this battle all settings were maxed with minimal lag. |

Yeah mounted combat looks pretty much lamer than foot combat. I like the bit where the mount stops and does a little perfect reverse. Needs a little beeping signal to warning people like some truck reversing. Seriously again nothing like the standard set by M&B. Noticed not of embarassing sync issues to from time to time. Ugh... FPS games at this ping just make me swap servers, except with DF... oh yeah. One server. :(
But really I was not sure if the riders were fighting or making love to there sweet behind of there trusty mounts. Oh yeah ride my baby oh yeah !... I was gonna grab a screenie and sell it a furry pr0n. |

hell, WOW *looks* fun, and it is, until you realise you need to grind for few thousand hours to get to max level and then you have to devote 20 hours a week to raid to progress further. AoC *looks* like fun until you realise it's a shallow, heavily instanced, buggy & laggy piece of crap.
DF is all about the fun factor, and it delivers. |

Originally posted by Ruyn I have yet to see a video that looks anywhere near the 300+ people always quoted. Enemies "as far as the eye could see"? Well, seeing that the view fogs out after a couple hundred meters, that isn't saying much. |

Sounds awesome with the 150vs150 battles. Could anyone please link a video or screenshot with these numbers in? I cant seem to find any myself, thanks in advance though Edit: spelling |

Because it isn't true. Next time you look at one of the videos freeze frame it and count the number of people in frame at once. Normally around 30 or so.....far from 150. Now go back to some of the DAOC or EVE battle footage and do the same thing....surprise hundreds of avatars in frame. They are just trying to convince themselves that they have something that has never been done before which is patently untrue. Either that or they are being told to post these comments when they get their paychecks from Aventurine for shilling and failboi trolling.. |

That is the funniest part. Every time they come here with something "no other MMO has done before" we start naming several that have. Then we are trolls. |

it's not. the biggest battle i have been in recently had about 50 people and was totally graphics & network lag free with max graphic settings at 1900x1200 and on a reasonably average PC (8800GT), which is a lot more than i can say about warhammer when i was playing it (laggy as all hell). |

latency has nothing to do with your vid card.....it has to do with communication between you and the server.

No knockdown when getting rammed by person on mount? What's the point of being mounted in combat then? Do you do more damage? |
