So when does it stop being a cliche when it's actually true? The sad reality is more than half of the bashers of most newer MMO's are indeed WoW-Fanbois whom are looking for a new game because they are bored with their "best game ever". Just because you disagree with the fact that it' said so much to trolls and whiney kids does NOT discredit the fact it is most probably true. Please consider this the next time you talk about cliches and name calling :)! Pls elaborate on your argument that more than half of the opponents are WoW players. Prove it. List the names of these people and how many hours each of these "bashers" play WoW. How many percent does that add to? it is over 50%, 50% of what? time? number of persons? Are they still currently WoW players? Most important of all, how do you obtain those statistics? You have no proof and you dare call it a reality. I call you a liar on this 100% liar. You just throw up another personal accusation to settle a dispute. What a wise way, and how wise you are. Look up Fadedbombs post history. Not only does he immediately assume everyone else on this site is a kid who plays WoW, he continually claims that people are comparing Darkfall to WoW when he is the ONLY one actually doing so. Fadedbomb you clearly have some unhealthy obsession with WoW and its subscribers, and its really fucking pathetic. |

Personally, I feel the OP made this thread for no other reason than to piss people off: Initial Claim: "Absolutely the worst game of the last ten years..the worst MMO of all time!" Message Following Initial Claim: "There I said it."
Where's the supporting facts? What exactly prompted this accusation? What, exactly, makes this game any worse than the next? Did the OP answer these questions? Nope... He dared to be critical? How does one be critical without any supporting information? Critical (according to the definition) is a skillful evaluation of the truth. His outrageous claim was nothing more than a blunt statement. A blunt statement, mind you, that was intended to piss people off. Until the OP can provide more information that supports his claim, he will not be taken seriously. This thread should have been deleted a long time ago... from what I hear, harassment is not a good thing. |

I think the amount of polish missing from DF, for a game that has been in development for ~8 years, is monumental. It strikes one as a very bad amateur attempt at making a game, rather than an organized effort by professionals. |

There are other games on the market that are more matured and polished without a doubt, but none of the current crop, in my opinion, is as enjoyable to play. I guess that, to me at least, the actual enjoyment of playing a game trumps everything else.
ymmv, of course. |

to each, his own I guess. But to me, DF was a terrible let-down, after following it for 2+ years... |

Because I encountered a game that failed to look 'professional' on every level; graphics were less than anticipated (and I never had high expectations, just what I would see in screenshots). Gameplay was a shell of a game concept - basically grind mats to have spare sets of equipment in case you get ganked. Sound - need I say more. AI - what's so intelligent about it? Where are the migrating mobs, that live their life in the world? All I saw was mobs placed in spawn points, like in eveyr other MMO. Gathering - really, one node-type everywhere? What happened to risk vs reward design (rarer node types spawning in more dangerous wilderness areas)? World design - for alpha, quite good. But you can't have empty cities and static NPCs, really. Combat - Diablo2 style combat. Nothing close to M&B, which was unofficially set as the expected standard.

Ok, I disagee, but ok. (I have a very good system, though) and have solved the AA issue by using Nhanse, for my Nvidia card. Gameplay was a shell of a game concept - basically grind mats to have spare sets of equipment in case you get ganked. This hasn't been my experience, at all, but ok. (Though I have been actively helping to build my clan city for the past week, but the work involved seems well worth the effort). Sound - need I say more. The individual sounds range from good to not so good, lol. But the way that the sound works within game is actually very good, imo. I like being able to zone in on activity, simply by listening to the direction from which the noise is coming. AI - what's so intelligent about it? Where are the migrating mobs, that live their life in the world? All I saw was mobs placed in spawn points, like in eveyr other MMO. There are, in fact, migrating mobs, in game. There are also mobs that live in ruins, etc. Some of these ruins seem empty, as you pass by. But I have learned to poke around a bit, you never know what you might run into... I am having fun with mob AI. There are some encounters that seem broken, but the ones that work, which seems to be the majority in my experience, is actually quite fun. Gathering - really, one node-type everywhere? What happened to risk vs reward design (rarer node types spawning in more dangerous wilderness areas)? This is kind of true, but I have noticed that the devs are tweaking them, as far as yields are concerned. I suppose their reasoning is that, as it is extremely easy to lose your gear, it probably would be a bit too hard core to make it extremely hard to replace it. Like EVE, in a way. Besides, there are many mats, required for higher end crafting that are not readily available from nodes around starter cities. Check out the mats required for Plate, for instance. World design - for alpha, quite good. But you can't have empty cities and static NPCs, really. I understand why the NPC's are the way they are. More fawna would be nice and fluffy, but in reality, there are so many people running around, the cities are anything but empty...lol Combat - Diablo2 style combat. Nothing close to M&B, which was unofficially set as the expected standard. You do realize that the vast majority of all players are running around at basically newb skill level, even the macroers atm. I don't think we can actually judge the full complexity of the combat system at this time. Maybe in a few months we will have a clearer idea.
Anyway, thanks for your views.
