if their server can TRULY handle 10k concurrent users, using the rule of thumb that during peak hours 20% of the player base is playing, then simple math would dictate you cannot have more than 50k subs. so whoever said that 175k-200k needs to seriously recheck his numbers.
10-12k is my guesstimate atm

so 4 digits being 1000-9999....lower than i thought.

I've heard this horrible definition of "success" far too many times in the past few weeks. No wonder the economy is in the tank! |

I suspect the problem with adding additional servers comes in the form of having an account/login system work with multiple servers (picking one, making a character on that one, etc). It makes no sense, with hardware costs these days, why they wouldn't be bringing a new server up immediately. From what I've seen and what they have managed to do with the game itself (seamless zones, semi-fps, etc), for MMO, is difficult to pull off. Where they are flopping is their platform. I honestly think they didn't plan on implementing this until to close to launch, and thus, we have the problems of not being able to get another server launched qickly, billing issues, etc.

(1,000*number of release groups) to (9,999*number of release groups) how many days has darkfall been on sale now? 7? based on the fact their server cant handle 3k users on a forum, i am guessing they are selling 1-2k a day. so 7k-14k units sold, the min is still below what i predicted.

Again, miagisan, we are on the same page. 10-12k would be my best guesstimate, as well. Especially, knowing the server capacity and that there is only one. I think, right now, the peak numbers may be a bit more than 20%, though, being that it is new. |

Ofc none of that really holds any water because; A. We have no idea how many ppl are trying to buy the game. B. How many copies are really being made available each day.
Oh and C. The B option is bloody ludicrous in this day and age of MMO's.
Come on Aventurine, what have you got to lose by telling everyone how many copies your selling each day, I dare you to tell us, double dare even =).

I know for a fact that there are atleast 50,000 players from europ. There are 25,000 from greece alone, this game had a huge cult following. |

That pretty well tells you the reason right there: it's not hardware and you can also rule out bandwidth. What does that leave? The human element (i.e. staff) is what's missing. Many people have referred to the current state of DF as "paid beta." I don't think that's far off the mark but I don't consider that a negative. So they get 10k early-adopters at $50 each to play. Fine, thats $500,000 they didn't have before which they can use to hire and train CSRs while they iron out kinks and stress-test one server. Seems like a perfectly sound way for a small MMO company to go about a launch. It's different than what we're used to with large coorporations that have spent all kinds of $ on promotion. Look at the number of servers WAR started with and what they're down to now with the latest round of free transfers and mergers... not to mention their recent lay-offs. Start small and build from there seems like an honest way to do things. |

I don't even think they have 10k people.
And they are banning people from playing so they can offer 10 more slots. What a joke. |

Technically you are quite correct, your not a subscriber at this point in time, however you have all paid 42 euros and in some cases more for the digital download, so your classed as a customer atm.
