I recieved a buddy key, after tedious hours trying to get one. My trial expired after my atempt at the digital download, I had various problems with that, im considering just buying the disk for 30 bucks.
but on second thought, is it even worth my money?? some say its about as boring as they come.... after level 20.
opinions? |

I had a pretty good time in AoC but I only played for about four months. It will really help if you join a large guild right off the bat - this may prevent you from being ganked constantly. As with all new games, there were bugs but I'm sure they are mostly worked out by now. For me, I played through all the content and am just waiting for some more updates before I head back. My favorite part was the NPC voice-overs, because I get tired of reading all the text commonly found in MMOs. Oh, and the graphics are awesome if you are into that sort of thing. Personally, I like to buy the physical versions of games as opposed to downloading them, but thats just because I'm a collector. However, I didn't have any problems with the DVDs when installing. |

yeah i like nice graphics, but they aren't everything for me. gameplay probably matters more. The whole voice over thing really appealed to me, that sounds like a really cool feature. I may buy the disk, because if given up on trying to download it. I just hope that it will keep my interest. |

You can get the game via Funcom or Direct2Drive for 19.95 now to download. Better yet have a look around local stores, may find it cheaper? Not sure which issues you had with the download or where from originally?

What kind of problems did you have with the download? If you never got in and activated the account might call their customer service and see if they will extend the trial. Surely they can look and tell if you have even logged in. Worth a shot atleast. There are also several gaming stores online that are selling AoC game a lot less cheaper than 30.00. I would shop around. .. .... .- - . - .-. --- .-.. .-.. ... .-- .... --- .-. . .--. --- .-. - .-.-.- |

It's not that big a jump from WoW or Vanguard to start playing Conan. It's a wonderful game and certainly so far it's been really worth getting in to. |

It's definitely something to check out. The combat is a bit different and a little more fast paced than some other games. The graphics are probably the best out there right now if you can run it on high. And the community is pretty decent. At the worst, it's still better then the communities in some OTHER games... coughcough
But yeah, you can get it for 20 bucks off Steam. And it comes with 30 days of play. 20 bucks for a game and a month of play isn't that bad of a deal. |

Endgame is boring and the whole AoC experience is more like a single player game. But might be in that 10% of gamers who like this kind of game, who knows.. And the minor detail you forgot to mention is here the majority of players did leave the first 6 months of the game, yes funcom said in august 415k customers, but august was still a part of the 3 month sub period many people had. By september majority of those 80-90% left the game, and majority of them didn't leave due to endgame beig broken alone. The guild I started playing in counted around 50 players, they all left due to bugs and problems with the game not the endgame. The second guild I joined had about 30-35 active players died slowly also due to bugs and technical issues. They did maybe one raid and hardly experienced the real endgame content, as more of the players left do to game not being playable for them. The third guild died because a big portion officers either quit or joined other guilds within 3 days. This guild those who left the game did mention endgame being the reason, but that wasn't many players. the rest who quit did so because the guild died and they couldn't be arsed to try to get the guild alive and kicking again. The biggest problem for Funcom wasn't that endgame was boring, it was that they seemed unable to fix the game the first 3 months and this drove loads of people away from the game, yes there was people leaving the game due to endgame being broken too, but it was not the sole reason for people leaving. Endgame today is quite different from what it was, there is enough raid content to keep people busy, there is a reason to PvP. ------------------------------------- If OP should buy the game or not I guess depends on what he expects from the game, AoC is imo a good game, but it do not suit all types of players. He might want to wait until the next big patch hit's the game, this patch will change a lot of the gamplay as stats and gear will become more important then before, and also the new tarantia common district should be ready by then. I was ready to quit the game in september, and if it wasn't for WAR dissipointing me badly I would have done it. I'm quite happy I didn't do it as I'm having loads of fun with AoC these days, the changes the game has seen since September are quite nice. More content has arrived and the quality of this content and the existing one has been improved quite a lot. While Aoc might not be the game with biggest subscriber base the game today is one of the better MMO's in my opinion, the GD have managed to turn the game around and the next patches will hopefully make the game even better. |

A: after the server merges there is plenty of pop
B: ause everyone I know who left AoC for WAR were bored out of their skulls at WAR's pedestrian combat and uninspired game mechanics
C:no F2P game touches AoC, and Shadowbane is far and away the best free game to play... { Mod Edit }

I bought AoC at release played for 2 months but quit after that my bear shaman was at lvl 62, I'm not a hardcore lvler before anyone says something about being only 62 after 2 months, and when I quit then it was because I was sick of the amount of grinding I was doing just to get my shaman lvls. But now I am told there is a lot more content in the game to fill those blanks in lvls they had with release, so here I am resubbed and made a new char, right now my new assassin is lvl 24 and I am enjoying the game very much looking forward to lvling to 80. And as for if you should buy it or not, I would go with yeah. As other people said it'll cost about $20 or less and comes with a free month, play through that free month and see what you think of the game. |

No. The game is still the same but only with less bugs. If you liked AoC at release bug hated the bugs, it might be a good time to get back in. If you hated AoC as a game, there is no point in resubscribing as the game hasn't changed. |

If you hated AoC as a game, there is no point in resubscribing as the game hasn't changed. There were certain level plateau's where one had to grind due to lack of content but: A: being boring was never a major complaing about AoC, you must be thinking of WAR, or just aren't thinking B: they have added content so not only would that qualify as being fixed or at least improved, it means that you are twice as wrong

Of all the complaints that i have read and heard about AoC, being boring is not one i can recall as to be used often, lack of content in several level ranges, bugs, unfinished things...the one-shot period, but not boring, so what they have changed, added and tweaked indeed modifies what people has complained about.
If those elements made the game boring for some of the ones that left (i know some got bored of grinding) then yes, it has also been addressed, and your experience can be quite different from the first time you played.
I can't guarantee that you'll have enough fun, as that is subjective, but the game do has improved a LOT and seems to be very enjoyable for most people currently playing, including lots of resubscribers. That's no guarantee that it will be for all, tho, to really know you'd have to try it, as all sources of information are plagued by people who can objectively post opinions without projecting their own intentions towards the game (be them to hype or burn it)
If the 20 or so bucks purchase is too much for you, or you just don't trust the positive reviewers, then probably is better for you to wait for their win-back campaign or tial accounts. |
