For a game made by one person in 6 months, this is really good.
Open beta is ending soon I think. I hope the creator doesn't mind my creating a thread about, but why not? It's a good game. And it's going to be free. So check it out. |

I've been playing this for the past few days and, I find it quite enjoyable. My in-game name is kerk. I can help you with any questions you have when the creator isn't on. As a new player this will help you a lot http://www.realmlords.com/getting_started.html See you in-game. |

Hey I think I was talking to you today. I have a question for you. I noticed you can buy spell scrolls (from the class trainers), is there a way to permanently learn them? Very early on.
Take druid spells for instance.

I was looking at this game a while ago, it looks pretty good for a game made by one person. Maybe when the game releases I'll have a go at it. |

*not that this matters but* Comparing graphics to a different game, what would it be like? The game sounds tank. |

I doubt one person will be able to keep up with the maintance of the server and continue to update the game with new content. It looks very interesting but it also looks like it isn't nearly ready for a launch. From what I read on the website it looked like an awesome game though. |

It's not like it's some big secret... when you're an unknown developer, squalking about your game in public (especially with very little to show) just makes you look like a "wanna-be" destined to fail. Alpha testing was in-house (literally) with friends. Closed beta was in November-December only lasted for a couple weekends. Open Beta started Jan 22nd (I was trying to mirror DF's dates because I knew there would be tons of traffic on MMORPG.com) with the game under the name "Yester-Quest". It did get decent exposure. What was unexpected is that some very knowledgeable people have been very generous in sharing their advice and opinions. This resulted in a couple things happening:
So for now, its open-beta until everything works and all required features are in. I don't have a clue how long it will take. NOTE: One thing that does bite about the current setup is that I don't have any sort of staging server-cluster to do development. This means to patch, I have to take the server offline for an hour to rebuild and boot back up again. Ken edit: spleelling |

Your doing a good job man. I was suprised how good the game was with the little dev time you've had with it. Keep it up man, With the genre being as bad as it is, I hope more people try to make their own games to toss this genre back into the 80's with home made Apple II games (imo the best time period in gaming).

Hope you can check it out when you get a chance, RealmLords class system is quite a bit different from MoM's*. MoM has many classes, I think like 16 or so. RealmLords has fewer classes but they are based on a skill system. Everyone starts with no class, then does a mix-n-match of skills from the various classes to create their personal build. For examle, my character might be a Ranger-Warrior hybrid. An archer with pet, wearing medium armor, but [from warrior] able to carry a heavy shield (with no penalty) and having warrior skills such as shield bash. In order to not completely screw grouping (we want people to group, this isn't supposed to be a soloable game), the only plate wearer who gets heal spells is a Paladin. Also, the huge dps magic users (mage and warlock) have no way to hybrid so they can also be healers. This way the norm tank / dps / heals grouping is preserved. As for profession skills... at the moment Armorcrafting, weaponcrafting, jewelcrafting, tailoring, and enchanting are working (also mining and skinning). There's a problem with herb gathering (no herbs in the game yet) and without herbs, the brewing profession (like alchemy) can't be written. Ken * disclaimed: Neither RealmLords or MMORPG Design Group are affiliated or endorsed by Prairie Games Inc. |

Go into your inventory, (the I key) click on the scroll then drag the scroll to the spells tab and drop it into a box. Then you may wan't to put your spells in the hot bar,(the n key) so that it is easier to access the spells.
