I played WAR when it first came out, canceled after a bit due to the state of the game. Just came back last week, and ran into a big problem. I have several toons scattered about on 3 different servers, and 4 of them I wanted to get back into playing. However, the servers they are on are dead...and I mean DEAD. I spent 16 hours playing 4 different toons on 3 different servers, and not a single PQ popped... not a one. Now, I want to get back into WAR, the trouble is WAR without population means no renown, no renown gear, no fun, etc. All the toons are over lvl 14, so I can't transfer them, so... So, I guess the question is, what the $##!@ can you do in this situation? You could easliy fit the current population of WAR in 3 servers, (maybe 2), but with the dozens they have, most are ghost towns... without the ghosts. Any news on server mergers? I mean like merging down to a few? Or how about letting you transfer toons to a populated (sic) server? Anything? If not, I can see why they are having trouble holding on to subs. I'm not renewing due to the fact that the servers my high lvl toons are on are empty and there is no way to move the time I have invested in them to a server that actually has other people playing on it. (For the record: "Reroll to another server" is not an answer. It's just stupid) |

They aren't doing merges. Theyre allowing free transfers. Theyre going through the low pop servers and allowing transfers to the high pop. Ones you are on prolly havent gotten around to yet. The high volume servers are a ton of fun though. And leveling in War is great. Just food for though. I have a 36 BO on a dead server from when I started. I decided to reroll Order and haven't regretted it at all.

Oh, I have that info. None of my toons are able because they are over lvl 14 and WAR has decided that is the cut off. |

This may be stupid, but at the moment, it's all Mythic will offer you. Doing actual server MERGES puts a black eye on Mark Jacobs, so that isn't happening. There is no paid transfer option for characters over level 14 like in WoW, I don't believe. So even if you wanted to give them cold, hard cash.. you're not moving. There is no way for them to give whatever server you are on a sudden infusion of life and opponents to kill without making it unbalanced, so that's out. Your only option offered by Mythic is.. the stupid "reroll" one. Which ironically, is... stupid you only get one option. |

The fact is that it takes very little time to reach max level, so that is where all the people are. It takes under 2 hours to get to tier 2, and from there it's still very quick to get to tier 3, where it at least slows down a bit.
The reason PQs don't pop is no one does them, they're not worth the effort. They take up time you could be quickly leveling, and if you happen to mess up in stage 2 or 3 you have to wait for it to reset and do the time consuming kill x number of guys to get it going again. Follow all that up with the fact that almost all PQs have crap rewards, no one takes the time to finish them.
When I level characters now I normally don't even max out my PQ bars until tier 3, and that's only because there's enough quests that make you do kill tasks at PQs that it maxes out as a side benefit.
I think saying you could fit the current population of WAR into 3 servers is a bit much, there's supposedly still over 300K players. And with having just opened up the free trial that will probably jump a bit.
They pick certain servers and allow transfers from time to time, if your server isn't selected there's probably more people on it then you think and they're just not in your area. Remember that at any given time the players of your level are seperated by 2 sides, and 6 zones. Combine that with everyone easily leveling to 40 and you won't run into a ton of people at this point until you level up.
So get the quests done move to the next tiers and you will find them. |

They offered no holds bar on free transfers for months where were you then? If you knew you were going to come back you should of been keeping up with the dozens of free transfers they've offered servers. The only dead low pop servers now are the ones that can no longer have new players placed on them because they're marked to have people transfered off. I love how you assume you can easily fit the WAR population on 3 servers when doing that would Utterly Blow up the servers considering there's 300,000 plus players still with accounts. I'm not even a WAR player anymore and I know better than that. |

Log on to your account management page and select free transfers, you will be able to choose your characters and destination servers. I do census on quite a few US servers and there isn't really such a thing as a dead server except for old servers everyone transferred off already. Some have lower concurrent population than I'd prefer but you would still have scenarios pop now and then both week days and weekends. Currently there are maybe 4-5 servers that are essentially full (US) and a number of medium pop ones, population appears to have stabilized for the most part with people still leaving but enough new/resubs to keep things generally stable though on individual servers/factions you may see noticable dips. You didn't mention if you play core, open or rp but for core I would suggest Badlands, Iron Rock (desto dominated) or Volkmar (order dominated) , even a lower pop server like Ironfist has decent population during prime time, just not quite high enough for regular city sieges etc. since people are spread a bit thin over 4 tiers each having their own scenarios, oRvR, PQ, dungeons and quest :) |

I transferred my toons from REM to Iron Fist and am having a ball. Why do people think that a game has to have dozens of servers? All you need are for the servers to have healthy populations so that getting into ORvR or scenarios doesn't take forever. Iron Fist has started to have login queues which insures that the population will be balanced. Ion |

Many people rolled on low pop thinking it would be a great way to have enough pve and no queues. They did not realize that the game orients around large pvp battles, so getting on a high pop server was desired.

It must depend on the type of transer you are trying to do. Azael was recently opened up to trasnfer from and most people transfered to Volkmar. I moved my 2 lvl 40's. -Currently looking forward to FFXIV -Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda |

There are different rules in place for different servers, including different rank restrictions (a lot of them won't let you transfer if your toon is over rank 11). As has been stated before, WAR is more dependant on server populations and balance than most other games, so I can see the restrictions being in place to prevent wild changes in pop and rank ranges on the populated servers. On the most severely depopulated servers (and I believe the OP greatly exaggerates the number of these), I would hope there would be no restrictions. It would be interesting if the OP would post which servers he's talking about, however, and I hope he will do so shortly. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |

I would love to.. but appearently the patch went bad this morning as servers are still down.
Edit: Also.. the last three days I have played.. (all daytime EST) only ONE server was Med/Med, ALL the rest were low/low. lol, I'm pretty sure a few of the ones I play on Low means one. |
