Well, I have a masters in Micro Biology and also in Rocket Science from NASA. I am trilingual and have a14" long piece of manhood. I am also a millionaire and the 25th richest person in South US. However, i am not a programmer. The devs said that they'll block you if you refresh the account page before the page times our or if you have multiple sessions. Is there really a way to detect that? I can probably see the multiple session thing, but the other one??? |

do you have a link for that quote? because if it's true, it is outrightly HILARIOUS.
but then again, they do get taken down by DOS attacks... i feel sorry for people trusting their cc information to something this hackable. i.e. didn't they say they were having to manually enter some of the information themselves? could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

And yes, they can. You would be logged in on your account trying to buy it when available. they see your account re-authenticating repeatedly as you look to see if the shop is now open, before seeing that your account had timed out.
Now, if you are able to refresh that without being logged in, then they would only be able to track IP hits and block your IP, which you could get around by connectiong to another network or using a proxy, but that isnt very likely. |

From our launch experience, the extreme demand caused the account management infrastructure to lag and often time out. The hammering of the system by the users made things worse. Repeated attempts by users led to charge failures because of bank security rules. Incorrect billing information also led to failed transactions. We expect the account management system to face extreme demand today as well. In order to try to avoid the issues we describe above, users who refresh before timing out, open multiple windows or tabs, and hammer the system will be temporarily blocked. Please do not refresh unless you have timed out or you will lose your place in the queue. We'll post when sales open. If the copies we have available for today sell out, we will repeat this process again tomorrow. Thank you, The Darkfall Team
IN ALL SERIOUSNESS -- BUYER BEWARE. do not let your desire to try some random game override your good-sense and cautiousness with your credit card information. by that post, they are still blaming customers for taking down the website. be wary of passing your financial information to something that can be taken down so easily. QQ about numbers this and that; but do you recall ANY game being released (after recently suffering a dos/denial of service attack) and then blaming the account management/billing problems on its customers?
this is just a warning to be cautious. fanbois or not, you don't deserve to get fradulent charges because of a poorly managed website. could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

I plan to refresh their news thread on the forums occasionally and have my login window open for when the news breaks. If this means I miss it I will stop tracking sales until they are open for good. |

Lies, NASA doesn't have a university programme and give out degrees, does it? Yeah they could tell if you're refreshing if one of their 20 staff would be looking through any logs from their site. However I'd have thought they'd be more worried about banning hackers than saps trying to give them money!
