I played this game almost two years. And at one time I had three accounts. It has the BEST zero G, "dancer" flight physics of any game. The Flight engine is Flawless. If you would like to know what its like to fly in Zero G, This is the game for you.

I played Jumpgate for over 4 years, it IS the 1st sci-fi space mmorpg, it was probably also the 1st to break the gameplay mould by using "twitch" based combat. it has the the most thrilling PvP of any mmorpg and ive tried them all! Jumpgate Rocks! All it needs is more players!

I have played JumpGate for almost 4 years and I have totally enjoyed learning how to fly and Attack the game AI {pink conflux} We have some really cool events and many of us spend alot of time helping all the new recruits and totally enjoy it The GM's are cool in game. We have a pirate radio station that we can listen to in game and many pilots you TeamSpeak in game also. Plz. be advised that JumpGate is "Not" a point and click, You fly your ship in a near real space sim. The learning curve can be a little steep for some pilots but We are set up with a mentor system where a higher level pilot will take you under their wing and teach you . Come on by and check us out From the stars we where born and to the stars we will one day return |

Eventhough, this game has been there for a while, it is one of the best twitch based space combat games out there. Nevermind about the outdated graphics, all it needs is more matketing to it, plus to get mentoined a lot on a lot of major technical/computer/internet related sites. |

It is true Jumpgate is in a dry spell. Thats because it lasted soooo long. I stopped playing because of a billing glitch. But I have been told that my station is still tere. LadyDracoe, good to see you. **Bows**. I play a quant named CLAW. I used to get major crap for having my name in all capitals. :)

I've been playing Jumpgate for 3 1/2 years now (started playing in mid-beta). Yeah the graphics are dated, and I know a graphic overhaul is "on the list" -- but my guess is that will happen next year. If you haven't tried it, and you like space-sim/joystick games, there's absolutely no other MMOG like it. And the thing that JG lacks most right now is PLAYERS. Come fly with us!

JGs big difference is that you do not "acquire" skills in the game -- you use your own real skills, whether it's fighting or patience (mining and artifact hunting) or intelligence (economic stuff, understanding production, actively controlling production to gain an advantage . . .) -- Ambros. Super game -- true the graphics seem a bit dated by today's standards, but it takes months to develope the SKILL to fly, fight and earn an in-game living. Instead of admiring pretty scenery and being rewarded for simply having logged on a lot, you have to prove yourself through practised, demonstrated skill. I've caught myself holding my breath during battles with aliens and felt feverish during a PvP dogfight -- nothing else like it, and

don't you mean (soon!)tm I started playing JG long before alot of these people knew it even existed. Early beta, and up until the release and all the changed aspects of the game that were in beta that made this a great game, these replies about how great this game is - is nothing but a bunch of BS lies. This WAS a great game, it had everything until the devs changed it to accommidate all the whiners. Sure, all games need tweaking, changed need to be made, but to outright ban specific aspects like pirates, pod's and the likes because others didn't like it. To police unreg and make rules where rules should not apply - IT'S UNREG ffs your supposed to go there at your own risk - if you die, deal with it. One consistant thing in all these replies is and I quote "ALL IT NEEDS IS MORE PLAYERS" Well it had alot of players, I know I was there, but when the devs made this game they made it a certain way and should of left it that way and if you didn't like it don't play it not the other way around ( we will change it so you don't like it and leave). Anyway I've said my $0.02, when someone other than NetDevil owns JG I'll consider coming back, until then this game is dead and the online player stats proves that as I type this there are only 53 players on the EU server and erm WOW a whole 12 on the US <~~~ enough said.

Hmmm, I played this "dying game" for an hour or so yesterday. Did I say play? I meant to say I took my Phoenix class fighter out for a cruise through unregulated space, warmly greeted by several other pilots along the way, until I arrived in the Aman Hook sector, where I did battle with a Manta class alien -- reasonably tough but over the last year my skill has improved and I managed a kill in two passes. I was heading to the next sector -- Canis 9052 -- where I had heard the aliens, known as the Conflux, had set up an outpost. My squad, -- New Dawn -- has an outpost in that sector, but it's hard to reach, the Conflux that frequent that sector are some of the most dangerous in the galaxy, and they usually travel in twos or threes. Anyway, on entering the sector I encountered an Eel and a Phocaena, two fast, deadly aliens. As they charged towards me, I raced forward at a slight angle, trying to set up some relative drift to through off the alien's aim -- a technique I learned through the JG forum discussions, yet still required weeks of practice. Both aliens fired on me, but the Eel is a poor shot while the Phocaena rarely misses and also turns on a dime. I concentrated on the Phoc, watching its shields light up as I hit it (and mine light up as it hit me), and on the third (or forth?) pass watched it erupt in a spectacular blast. I then turned my attention to the Eel, but my shields were dangerously low and after only one pass I thought I was a goner. (Damn, I need more practice in the sim!) We jousted -- racing almost head-on (remember the drift!) watching the big Eel's shields light up as balls of fiery plasma flash by me, the sound of their passing loud in my ears. My shields are gone and my armors down to 40%, not good, the Eel is scoring more often than I had anticipated -- I had read about a program patch that was supposed to improve their aim, damn! I switch my tactic to "circle fighting" -- trying to stay inside the big alien's turning circle. It works! The Eel can't quite bring its weapons to bear while I'm wearing down its shields with each pass. A minute later it's over and I'm victorious, but my ship is battered and my ammo and maneuvering fuel low. I couldn't take another fight like that, and yet I'm deep in alien territory. Scanning my radar targets, I locate the New Dawn outpost and make my way there. Docking is tense, the sector is filled with asteroids that can provide cover for an approaching enemy, and while trying to line up to dock I'd be a sitting duck, yet I make it and my ship is safe -- repaired, rearmed and refueled. Jumpgate is a game, and it's as challenging as you wish to make it. You set your own limits, but the choices you make. Want to earn a living searching the galaxy for precious metals or radioactive minerals? I've done it, it's actually fun. Or search for ancient artifacts from a previous galactic civilization, the folks who do that have quite an elaborate website to help you. What to drive a big-rig through space? Steering and docking a fully-loaded tow can be quite challenging. A combat pilot? A pirate? Or, like me, an alien hunter? Those jobs require A LOT of practice, but it's a real blast!!! Dated graphics? I hadn't noticed, I was too busy thanks. |

Jumpgate has an excellent flight engine. But that is all it has to offer. The game went from probably 1500 users to 50 users over 3 years. The only players left now are the carebear whinners who got the game changed to the way they want it and now they are left alone. The Game Masters are made from a bunch of very immature youngsters who do nothing to help players just abuse their GM status to cause grief in the game to the few people left. DO not give these people your credit card details they will bill you until you get a new credit card. Even when you cancel they take money out for months and do not refund any money. Customer Service does not exist. You may get an EMAIL reply 4 or 5 months after your initial problem. Avoid it, its a MASSIVE multiplayer game with 30 people playing it for a reason!
