This was one, of several trolls posts flooding the Darkfall forums. Sadly, this is the kind of stuff we have to put up with ALL THE TIME. People wonder why the fanboys are rabid, its because, for no discernable reason, these people gravitate towards this game, and awlays have. 

"I had a friend in college who made his own 3d gaming engine( and I mean from the ground up) in Louisiana and invited like 35 people to play in a small game (I made the levels and graphics) he made and had no problems on his shit computer that he bought from friggin Wal Mart like 8 years ago. He made this in like 2 months in his spare time from school. AV can't do the same thing with 30 people working FULL TIME in 7 YEARS with high end professional servers. LMAO. For all of you whiners and fanboys, guess what... your game has failed, more miserably than any game has failed in mmo HISTORY. Ultima Online was at least fun to play at the beginning and allowed all who wanted to join in. Let me taste thost tears of sorrow, c mon, let them flow. These game has been so over-hyped that I'm not surprised reactions haven't been worse. I can read every forum of this website except this one and not see a single mention of darkfall - its been a very subdued release to a very niche audience which was once a lot larger.

Honestly, I thought Darkfall was made for the hardest of the hardcore crowd. You know, the kind of players who kill you repeatedly, take all your stuff, and then post photos of themselves teabagging your corpse on the internet. I don't understand all the whines and cries about people posting opinions that you don't like on a message board. Shouldn't a hardcore PvP crowd be able to emotionally handle negative posts?

Unless, of course, that guy's post reinforced some internal fears you have that DF won't live up to the hype you've built up for it in your mind? That's the only reason I can see why anyone would whine about someone else's opinion online.

It's almost a philisophical question, what came first? The troll or the hardcore fanboy?  The reason DF keeps getting consistently trolled hardcore, is simply the reaction the trolls have been getting from the "fanboys".. You have to understand "trolls" do not care about the game.. Many probably don't even play mmorpgs, but once they find an "easy" target, it becomes a feeding frenzy.  They LOVE whipping people into a defensive fury..  Many "trolling" related sites have "how to troll darkfall" pieces..  Even encyclopedia dramatica has a "how to troll darkfall" on it's darkfall page.  You can't argue logic with a troll, you can't even have a conversation with one. The only way to beat a troll, is to ignore that they're even there.  These threads (and the numerious ones posted EVERYDAY) just encourage them.  They're not going to say, "Hey, that guy has a real logical arguement against my statement, I'm going to relent." No.. They're going to say "LOL NUBS, DF SUXX!! *instert here* WAS/IS SO MUCH BETTER THEN DARKFAIL", only with worse spelling and grammer.

Now for credibility - he should have posted screen shots.  But, that said, it is not totally outlandish.  The bit about building a 3D gaming engine from the ground up is - he probably means he used an existing engine or design 'kit' you can get for free these days (I have a demo Playstation game here designed by a 12 year old which compares to the original Wolfenstein) but designing the levels and graphics is credible. It's Modding and not uncommon now.  There is also the little fact that a LAN game is very different from an MMO... but okay.

His point here is that in the last 7 years the tools available to designers have improved dramatically.  Stuff that used to be strictly for professionals is now within the domain of 'regular' users.  Modding has gone from being something only computer geeks could do to something players look for when they buy a game.  Modding teams set out to mod games that are still in development and some Developers now even use community input as part of their game.  Essentually - a game that started development 7 years ago is well behind the 8-ball now.

Okay, that last paragraph is a unsupported rant.

But I also noticed that the post was quite well punctuated and the spelling was good.  The sentences had structure and it was ledgible.  The grammar was good.
The poster is not stupid, a little young perhaps and prone to slight exaggeration but not a rabid "UR g4me suxxor!!1111!!1!11!1!" type mouth breather rabid troll.

You say that trolls have bad spelling and 'GRAMMAR', yet some of the worst writing I've seen has come from rabid fans. Both sides are just as bad. Of course you can't say anything about people's poor grammar because all of a sudden English isn't their first language.

Quit whining people. Discuss things rationally, argue them ignorantly, ignore people who say things you don't agree with if you must, but take care of these things at the point of origin, don't drag them out and start new threads about them. If there is a thread talking about Darkfall's combat and somebody says that 'Darkfail SUXX cuz it's all running in circles and randomly clicking the mouse!' then debate that issue there don't start a new thread going 'You won't believe what this Troll said!'.
